in Android, Xperia PLAY

Sony TabletsSony has unveiled two new Android tablets that will run Android 3.0 Honeycomb and are the first Playstation Certified devices to be announced since the arrival of the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY. Whilst this news isn’t Xperia related, it’s good to know that Sony is committed to the Playstation Suite, which should be good news for the Xperia PLAY going forward.

The first tablet, codenamed S1, has a 9.4-inch (1280 x 800) display. It will come with Wi-Fi and 3G/4G network compatibility. The second tablet, codenamed S2, has a dual 5.5-inch (1024 x 480) display with a clamshell design (much like a Nintendo DS). Not much else in terms of specs or price has been disclosed at this point. Both tablets will be available by the end of 2011.

I’ve got a Bravia TV,and a PS3, and an X10, and I’ll eventually get an Arc… If these things plays nice with all that, then they are pretty tempting.

Becoming a Sony fanboy buying into their ecosystem. :)

  • looks great but i’m not impressed with the whole playstation certified idea when it lacks the hardware controls, unlike the xperia play…

  • They look pr

  • They look promising to be honest.

  • i think it would be really nice if the curved back area on the s1 was hallow on the side.. so u could have the option of the sliding ur hands thru to get a good grip of the device, and a touch sensitive back section like the NGP would be interesting too!!

SE has proved that smartphones dont need to look iphone-ish to be awesome. This time sony is going to prove that tablets dont need to be ipad-ish as well. Simply shame on the companies who cant innovate
