O2Now this is a strange turn of events. We don’t think we’ve ever seen a branded firmware release before the generic firmware, but that is what’s happened in the UK. O2 UK users are reporting that the Android 2.3.3 firmware update has started to roll out to handsets, whilst the generic UK update is still absent. Only a few regions have so far seen the update, including Hong Kong. However, we would expect the vast majority of other regions to get the update from next week.

  • For instance German generic  for SIM free Arc is nowhere in sight.

  • this is NOT the first time!
also in Germany the O2 firmware for the X10 in the past often was earlier released than the Generic german…

but this is good that UK starts…. that means it will take less than 2 weeks until german generic gets released…. this is the normal time after the UK releases

Even stranger is that this release is from O2. My X10i was 4 versions behind the latest SE release because O2 was taking so long to release them, I ended up installing a UK Generic firmware because they were so slow.

  • If i flashed my phone with generic international firmware, but i live in the UK, will i get the update when the UK -firmware owners do ? is it region depended with the generic firmwares, or is it firmware depended ?

  • Snehal Thx

i think its firmware dependent, cos i flashed with generic international firmware, so i tried to get back on my original firmware by using SSU. but hell i m on generic international firmware after update. :(

That’s because the xperia arc has sooo many problems!
