Disable Auto BrightnessOne of the biggest criticisms that the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY has faced is its tetchy auto brightness setting. Sony Ericsson has provided no setting to turn this auto brightness off which means in certain scenarios, like in a dark room, the display can be too dark to use properly.

To get round this developer hatcyl has created an app on the Android Market called Disable Auto Brightness that disables this setting and allows you to use the handset on full brightness under all conditions. The app requires root access and will cost you $0.99 (62p), but for those having problems with the display it sounds well worth it.
