SE confirms Android 2.3.4 rolling to Nordics; RoW expected in late October/early November

in Android, Firmware, Xperia arc, Xperia Neo, Xperia PLAY, Xperia ray

Xperia ray Sony Ericsson has confirmed over on its product blog what we have already known for days i.e. that the Android 2.3.4 update is rolling out to the 2011 range of Xperia handsets (Xperia arc, Xperia neo, Xperia ray and Xperia PLAY) in the Nordic countries. For those in other countries wondering when they can see the update, you should expect a long wait.

For some reason, Sony Ericsson says that all other regions will see the update at the end of October or early November. That’s a whole month away. We’ve never seen this happen before, so we wonder what the reasons behind the delay are. Maybe there will be some new functionality or maybe there’s another reason. No explanation was given in the blog post. For all of the kits released so far, click here.

Gonna go kinda off topic here… I’m still kinda curious as to how is the Xperia Ray cheaper then the Arc, at least where i’m from… I mean it has EVERYTHING the arc has(maybe excluding the larger screen), plus a front facing camera. A more compact design would also mean aditional engineering chellenge from the team. So how is it still being sold cheaper?

    Lack of HDMI port. Probably.

  • Denmark, I would imagine. I don’t know if we’ve gotten the update yet as mine Mini’s at the repairshop..

I dont mean to sound ignorent but is this talking about when the ray will get the 2.3.4 or all 2011 xperia phones? Just cause i have already got the update on my uk generic xperia arc. I downloaded it about 3-4 days ago.
