White Xperia arc S – initial impressions

White Xperia arc SThe 1.4GHz Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S just landed on our doorstep and we wanted to share our initial thoughts. To be honest, given that the phone is pretty much identical to the Xperia arc apart from processor grunt, it’s difficult to say anything different to what we’ve already covered in our recent six month review.

However, this is a white Xperia arc S and damn is it sexy. Much sexier than our Midnight Blue version. It has a glossy white back cover, but unlike darker plastics, you’ll probably never notice the fingerprint marks on it. In terms of performance, it feels fast but right now it’s difficult to ascertain how much faster it is over the 1GHz original.

The handset is running Android 2.3.4 firmware out of the box, however the build number is 4.0.1.A.0.266 rather than the 4.0.1.A.0.283 version hitting other handsets. We’ll come back in due course with our full thoughts, but in the mean time check out some pictures below. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask in the comments below.

Sony know how to make a fucking unbelievable sexy handset. I heart my Silver Arc.

u can buy one… or do you not want a 10 pound cable after spending over 300…

Finally have option to upgrade my white X10i to white arc S.

  • Griffithboy

Well i have an Arc before that a X10. The X10 i hated so much constant lagging for a smartphone it was shit. Somehow i got coned into an Arc which is a  little bit better but is constantly force closing on apps the phone its self. And i find timescape freezers my phone when updating so i have it turned of automatic and do it manual. When i do still phone works pretty well. Its a great looken phone but iam disappointed. Dosnt anyone else have these problems ?

Im from UK and mine came with HDMI cable and 8gb micro sd

I’d hit this stright away though my budget’s holding me back for Nozomi…

let me ask the same boring question i asked this year when the ARC was realeased in europe!  WHEN IS IT COMING TO THE U.S.?  why does sony do this every time why can’t announce a day?  my current ARC broke, now i need a phone, how long do i have to wait?

  • Sss

If I am going to spend £300+ I would buy a white SG2 not an Arc s. The original arc is fine go dual core. You need to stop sucking se balls.

  • PL

Well the S2 is substantially more expensive. Around £200 more in fact and tbh i dont need dual core for my usage. More of a camera person and the optics on the Arc S are far better than the S2 in my opinion.

lol excatly, sss go buy a SG2 then u fool stop being such a tight ass, if you can fork out that much for an arc s then go buy a cheap hdmi se dont need to provide that u idiot

in europe the arc s is already released… the white and the midnight blue, the silver one isn´t at this time… the midnight blue since sunday in germany.. and i already using it since a yesterday ;)                But you´re right… I never read a date when it should hit the streets only when you look at the sony ericsson shop it was there or not – for example: the white one was availiable, the blue wasn´t there only stood that it isn´t available – no single word when, the same case by the silver one. It´s a bit disappointing. Maybe it would really be better for SE to announce it with a date instead of doing more or less nothing…

  • Bigdirtyturbo

Owned it for 2 days and today im taking it back… the battery life is very very poor ive had 11 and 10 hours from a full charge, even using power saving and app killer!! VERY DISAPPOINTED.

have silver arc, this seems to be much too small of an upgrade.

i sure love my arc though.

  • betatesterz

If you’re really a mobile photography person and not much of an appp user, you would’ve already gone for the N8.

  • Tsikkouris

How about first charge? It comes fully charge or not? And how many hours are needed for first charge?
