The new Nikon J1 has sensor 5 times bigger and ‘only’ 10 megapixels

The Nikon J1 isnt a very good camera… just so you are aware. But i get what you mean, megapixels are not everything

The first image is beautiful. Go Sony! 

Pictures don’t look half bad. Only “flaw” i see is in the picture with 4 santas crossing the road, the sky seems to be a tad bit over exposed, covering up the phonelines.

Then again these are in good lighting conditions. I would like to see some night shots, poor lighting conidtions where the Exmor R is being marketed at.

Yes it is 1/2.8 in other words size is 18 square mm
Xperia Arc is 16 square mm
Points and shoot are from 28 to 48
Nokia N8 is 38 square mm
The Nikon V1 is 116mm
Samsung E-PM3 is 226mm
Sony Nex-5 is 360mm
Full Frame DSLR are 860

Sony put inside a 18 square mm 13 megapixels – you see pixel size so small does not improve camera resuls

It is only about marketing

that was disappointing. I was hoping SE would launch a camera android phone that would defeat both iPhone 4s and N8 in terms of Imaging. But then perhaps its one of those last few Sony Ericsson phones that’s why they didn’t bother to make it all that.

Though i don’t know how to convert 1/2.3 to square mm…
Correct me if i’m wrong but think i’ve read somewhere before that the Arc’s sensor is 1/2.3 or 2.4… If that’s so, having a 1/2.8 sensor on the nozomi’s a huge downgrade =(

These will beat the Iphone but maybe not the N8, what Sony really need to do is add a Xenon flash for indoor & night times

And yet Apple seems to know how to better optimized what Sony has created hahaha

I sincerely hope that with increased MP size comes better image quality

The Cybershot line was successful(i guess), why don’t they incorporate it in this next phone?
also, if the final products comes with 720p or 1080p HD recording capability, that would be nice

With the advancement of camera phones, their performance is coming close to P&S cameras. Take the N8 for example, its performance can arguably beat most P&S cameras out there. Less an optical zoom feature of course. My guess is sony still wants to leave something to desire for their P&S cybershot cameras..
