Sony (Ericsson) has announced a new partnership with Billabong, the brand that epitomises board sports such as surfing and snowboarding, in what it describes as a “global partnership”. If you remember, back in October we reported on a Billabong themed Xperia active. SE seems to be bringing this up again as one of the core fruits of this new partnership. It says that this Billabong Xperia active will now be available in select markets outside the Asia Pacific (it was initially available in New Zealand).
This “strategic” alliance brings some new content too. The Billabong Xperia active will feature Billabong screensavers, videos and a new mobile app called Billabong LIVE. The Xperia PLAY will also get in on the action with an exclusive surf game called ‘Billabong Surf Trip’ coming soon to the handset. We expect SE is paying big bucks to also get its Xperia phones featured in major Billabong events worldwide too.
