UAProf confirms international Sony LT29i ‘Hayabusa’ (Xperia GX)

by XB on 4th June 2012

in Rumours, Xperia T

The Sony LT29i ‘Hayabusa’ which is widely expected to be the international version of the Japanese Xperia GX (SO-04D) has appeared on a UAProf (user agent profile). UAProfs are used to reveal a device’s properties for web page rendering and MMS exchange. The listing confirms the phones 720 x 1280 resolution and Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chipset (1.5GHz dual-core processor and Adreno 225 GPU).

The Sony Xperia GX is an exciting phone, apart from the S4 chipset, it will have a 4.6-inch display, 16GB flash memory, microSD memory card support, LTE, HDMI and a 13MP camera with Exmor sensor and full HD video recording. A version of the phone looks like it is on the way to western shores in the form of the Sony LT29i but we still await an official announcement.

Thanks Felix!

  • ipatz

Sony is always late for the party. Samsung and HTC already went quad-core.

  • Kaostheory

Samsung and HTC have gone duel core for LTE compatibility there is no quad core LTE phone.

  • EpPart

Yeah! I wanted the GX or the acro S, but the acro S is not coming to the Netherlands

BTW Which phone is the MINT?

  • aokde

i will be honest here, if those are the hayabusa specs, then its not worth waiting for it. 720p resolution should go up (i’m not a “more specs the better” kinda person) a little maybe? just to maintain the high PPI? the snapdragon s4 msm8960 is good, but why not use msm8960 pro (main difference is the gpu, adreno 225 vs adreno 320). and also, why not try to make it waterproof or dust proof or i dont know….
anyway, i’m hoping this phone will be as i expect (and maybe a higher battery).
sony, amaze us like you always do :D.

  • sony isn’t late… u seem to b living in late centuries.
htc and samsung couldn’t achieve anything by going for outdated quad cores, htc’s dual core one s and at&t’s one x(dual core) beat one x(quad core) hands down while samsung’s quad core offering is just on par with qualcomm’s dual core.
so.., it would b better if u stop trolling and rather involve in some healthy conversation

  • jmx2012

S4 Snapdragon is way better than quad-cores. Quad-cores are battery drainer.

  • jmx2012

this is the device I’m getting my current phone Xperia Neo V.

  • weeeeee8888888888

yess Its about time cant wait to see it!!!

  • maybe u don’t know that there r already two more flaships(most possibly) on the way from sony(mint and the sony nexus device) which may be even more better than what people r hoping for…
the only grudge some people might have with international xperia hayabusa is the use of simple msm8960 instead of the pro one, otherwise i don’t find anything wrong with these specs for international version.
as for the resolution, gng with more than hd resolution dosen’t make sense at all on a 4.6″ screen, it would be plain stupid… higher resolution won’t make any difference in real life other than putting extra pressure on the phone’s gpu itself

  • Anonymous

At 4.6″ and 720p resolution, that is still 319ppi which is pretty close to “retina” definition. Most likely you will not see the difference. As for the 8960pro, there is probably not enough stock around. They are just still fixing up S4 supply issues.

  • Aokde Gharra

sony won’t release more than 2 flagships in 2012. one was the XPERIA S, the second would be in H2 2012, if the hayabusa is the flagship, then there wont be another flagship.

  • Adrian

Pro chipset with Adreno 320 isnt availble yet…

  • Mint is a LTE device for international markets and will have (according to rumors) similar specs like GX but with an aluminium body (non removable battery) . Maybe the CPU will be S4 Pro, but that is just a rumor too.

  • If not a fan of Sony, no one has enough patience to wait for the awesome devices :D

  • ahomad hosin

this phone would be called xperia x. sony is developing the xperia just the same as the Vaio. the top vaio modle is Z followed by X then S. this will be the same with the xperia phones, we already have the xperia s and the above is the xperia x and the mint will be the xperia Z with S4 pro Chip probably, so sony will only have one flagship which is xperia Z and the others will be mid-range phones like the HTC one S which have (more or less) the same spec with the xperia x (GX). they just released the xperia s earlier because they just acquired Ericsson and they need some time to change their strategy (these things doesn’t happen in blink of eye)

  • Aokde Gharra

will be in H2 2012, perfect time to implement it into the next flagship from sony.

If sony so late in spec or what ever … no one will do a review battle between xperia line up with other brands. Sony already knows as the optimize expert for their smartphone. And its already prove on xperia s battle with more high end spec such a quad core processor. Just late by a second or two not a big issue for normal user consumer but for ageek i dont know…. my aim will be this GX… yihaa. ..

  • CP2020

I am sorry to burst your bubble my friend but don’t get too exited about this all 4G LTE so called new network standard. It does indeed exist but as of now it is in a development stage ( yes 4g is just a name for something that is really … well … still 3g ) , has been for a very long time and will be for a while yet before it becomes a real wi-fi new networking standard for mobile and radio communication. 4G LTE is not what the public is told by media, carriers and whatever businesses, they are telling people that they gonna get the fastest wifi speed possible supposedly faster than 3g…well they won’t. But hey it’s all bout profits new names and lie that consumers like us will swallow cuz we want the best. I want anyway so go on Sony 3G is fine lets get this GX out ppl are getting very impatient with your releases lately

  • Kaostheory

No burst bubble here. I was just pointing out that there is no quad core carrier backed phone in N. America that I’ve heard of. I’m on Rogers in Vancouver which has 2600MHz

  • What would they name it? would it still retain GX? or another letter? or perhaps it will carry the name Arc

  • Vrils

if Sony Xperia GX is Hayabusa and Sony Xperia Go is Lotus then
    Sony Xperia SX is ?!?

  • Soban

    Olive, perhaps

  • Getsuga

still waiting for Xperia SX Orange :)

  • DragonClaw

Xperia Hayabusa is not the international version of GX. Acro S is the Hayabusa. where as international GX is Mint.

  • Camille Cascarino

HDMI or MHL port for the Xperia GX ?

  • Mint is a tablet not a phone …

  • ankitw

Sony should bring out a windows phone8 and windows8 tab with their as usual amazing design… As for the GX, if its coming with 1700mah battery, then I’m not moving from my xperia S, will wait for sonys Quad core !!

  • really…?
when GX was announced xperia blog stated the japenese version to b mint and international version as hayabusa

  • nope…

  • Nope, Acro S is not Hayabusa.

Xperia GX = LT29 (LTE device only for Japan)

Hayabusa = LT29i (international version of the GX, but without LTE)

Acro S = LT26w (international Acro HD, XS replacement)

Mint = LT30(i) (LTE devices with similar specs to GX, but with aluminium body)

Here’s the link to the leaked road map:

Go according to my theory. (Assume that this road map is only for the international versions). And you will see that things are very spot on. (along with the prices (in INR)).

Just my thoughts. Just check it out. You will think like me at least for some time too. :D

    MT27i: Xperia Sola [Announced]

Tapioca: Xperia Tipo [Will be announced soon. Why I am saying so? The name was leaked. That’s why]
    HAYABUSA: Xperia Arco S [Announced]
Tapioca DS: Xperia Tipo Dual SIM [Yet to be announced]
Lotus: One of low end devices leaked
ATLAS I: One of the low end devices leaked
    MINT I: Xperia GX [International]
Doesn’t this make more sense? After all it’s all rumors and guesses. :)
    Thanks,Rick

  • mint is 70 euro costlier than hayabusa acc to the leaked roadmap which just don’t satisfy it’s specs at all.
how can an international version be that much costlier when it would most probably be lower specced version of japenese one(with omission of japenese specific features + lack of lte as it will be an international version)
these are the things that make me think that mint will be an altogether diff. device

  • Coollead

The GX has MHL. Sony is also shipping a dock with HDMI on it.

  • Coollead

Seeing as the Galaxy S III and GX have the same processor in America, Canada, Japan, and Korea, I’m pretty sure Sony’s competing with specs just fine.

  • Coollead

Why do you need more than 720p on a phone less than 5 inches…? Not only will that require a more expensive panel, you’ll need a much more powerful GPU, which in turn means more battery usage. Think before you type.

  • Coollead

What language are you typing in…?

The Xperia GX supports Docomo’s LTE network that was launched in 2010. 35mbps in the service area and up to 72mbps in certain areas.

  • Coollead

Why do Samsung, HTC, and Sony all use the same exact processor (S4) for their phones in North America and Asia then? “Quad-core” is literally just a marketing term that you’ve fallen for.

  • DragonClaw

I am saying that Hayabusa (Acro S imo) has no relations with GX at all. It is basically a IP6 certified Xperia S.
On the other hand MINT_I is the international version of GX. So it will be having an S4 processor and thus it will cost much higher than the Acro S (Hayabusa) as well as the Xperia S, which run the S3 processors.

According to zymo upstairs, Hayabusa = LT29i (international version of the GX, but without LTE). Now Hayabusa according to the leaked roadmap costs same as the Xperia S. But if Hayabusa really were the international GX running an S4 processor, it would cost a lot more than the Xperia S.

    Thanks,
    Rick

  • Like you said, Acro S is just a “outdoor” Xperia S and that why it has the model number LT26w (Xperia S has LT26i). The GX has the model number LT29 and the device which is mentioned in the UAProf has the number LT29i (“i” means international in Sony phones declarations). So it is the international version of the LT29 aka Xperia GX. According to leaked roadmap Hayabusa will cost 10% more then XS and you have to consider that the XS was the H1 flagship, where as Hayabusa/LT29i will be the second half flagship along with some other devices (like Mint). How much more do you expect a S4 equipped Sony phone should cost? CPU is not the most expensive part in a phone it’s the internal flash memory.

  • Stephen Raharja

    Mint is a phone.

A reliable leaker has verified that Mint will be the international version of GX, with bigger battery & other changes; that’s why the higher price.

  • Yes that what insiders are telling. Maybe it will have an upgraded CPU/GPU (S4 PRO) But the main difference will be design.

  • have u read thread ? two version of GX ? Haybusa and Mint. as i know Mint is a tablet ..

  • Vrils

    Tapioca: Xperia Tipo
    HAYABUSA: Xperia Arco S
Tapioca DS: Xperia Tipo Dual SIM
    MINT I: Xperia GX

Lotus: One of low end devices leaked
ATLAS I: One of the low end devices leaked

    ————————————————————-

    Sony Xperia Go is LOTUS
then maybe Sony Xperia SX is ATLAS & Sony Xperia Ion is OLIVE?

and Sony Xperia SX is clearly the Sony Xperia Ray successor

  • DragonClaw

Ion can not be Olive. Ion costs a lot. It has much costly build when compared to other phones.

Xperia Go can very well be Lotus (In case by Lotus Sony doesn’t mean the car company but the flower that is WATERPROOF :D)

What you say about SX might be true, though I doubt it. As IMO, Sony’s trump card this year will be the s4 processor, and I do not think they will sell a phone with that processor at a cost lower than the Xperia P. But I do have a strong feeling that what you say might just be true. (What you say fits in a lot better. You are correct perhaps :))
    Thanks,Rick

  • CP2020

I’m affraid those speeds are only theoretical and i could bet all my money on that nobody in japan using commercial mobile phone/tablet gets that kind of speed. Pretty much just like anywhere else in the world. It all depends on carriers and density of devices connected to the service at the time in a certain area. In practice u are most likely gonna get half of that if you lucky for a limited time as well. That is if you are right next to the tower and there’s no one else using wifi with you at that time. Then the carrier might assign u higher speeds. It is all crap i am telling You.

  • DragonClaw

And you say that what the Ion is to XS (the build quality is better), the MINT_I will be to Hayabusa?
Hmmm… That’s reasonable too. Lots of logical theories we can have :)

  • CP2020

And English isn’t my native sorry if u having trouble with understanding it

  • Trojan

Hayabusa= the GX, Hayabusa is just the code name

Sony is a way better brand than others, they come with very nice designs and specs, and they don’t copy like others did.

  • Sony fan

    Based on this leaked thing
http://androidos.in/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Sony-Lineup-2012.jpg Hayabusa won’t even be the flagship.. It’s the Mint. Most expensive one. Well that’s only a guess :))

  • weeeeee8888888888

ok Greate ,Cant Wait For It

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH !!

  • Arie

I hope it will come with lcd backlit ips

  • Well, there are rumors that both Haybusa and Mint won’t be “flagship”, but a third phone. But again it depends on how you define “flagship”. If the rumors about a Sony Nexus are true, that could be the third device. But as always, step by step :)

  • it seems that sony is amongst the five companies manufacturing next nexus device.

i hope sony would retain the glowing logo as seen in the GX, It was said earlier that the Sony logo would be placed on top with the XPERIA logo below, which clould mean that the XPERIA logo itself will glow. it will make LT29i looks much more distinct

  • coolgids

i really want this phone to replace my old Arc!
    hope it will launch soon

  • Stephen Raharja

Yes, I do read thread. I got this info after reading tens of pages in different threads in xda-developers

    Waiting……..^^
