Lara Croft: Guardian of Light hits Android as Xperia exclusive

in Games, Xperia ion, Xperia PLAY, Xperia S

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is now out on Android and Sony has managed to grab timed exclusivity for the Xperia ion, Xperia PLAY (optimised for joypad) and the Xperia S. The game is a near-enough identical port of the well-received XBLA and PSN title. We first heard about the Android port back in September last year, at that point it was meant to launch November 2011, so fans have had a long wait.

Lara Croft: Guardian of Light sees the Tomb Raider heroine team up with a 2,000 year old Mayan warrior named Totec. It features a fixed 3D viewpoint and lots of puzzle solving. You can read an interview about the game with Ben Cusack, Brand and Marketing Director of Mobile at Square Enix Europe here. To celebrate the Android launch, the game is on sale with 50% off until 22 July 2012. You can get it on the Google Play Store for £0.99p/€1.19/$1.29.

wow, i guess someone from PS3 is working for the mobile section…. its cool to have games but i only see a battery drain issue… so i am not sure how appealing a game can be

  • for Xperia 2011 series?

It is cool to hear that the Xperia play is still supported by the developers :)

  • sufy

Yeah I agree. The Xperia PLAY is still not dead !

Play says it is not compatible with my ion, only my XPS

  • Rammstone

won’t run on my Xperia S, just crashes while trying to load

    App permissions are creepy!

  • arrowthefirst

much better is a partnership with nvidia. nvidia turned android into game platform. tegra devices are best for playing. I hope that sony will ps certify tegra devices and integrate tegra zone to PS store

  • Mark

I’m avoiding this app like the plague because of the permissions it requires. There is something dodgy going on here.
