What is your favourite Sony Xperia of 2012 so far? [Poll]

by XB on 5th August 2012

in News

At the start of the year, we didn’t expect Sony Mobile to release significantly more handsets in 2012 than it did in 2011. Last year it launched ten handsets (Xperia active, Xperia arc, Xperia arc S, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia neo, Xperia neo V, Xperia PLAY, Xperia pro and Xperia ray). So far this year, Sony Mobile has launched eleven handsets (Xperia acro S, Xperia go, Xperia ion, Xperia miro, Xperia neo L, Xperia P, Xperia S, Xperia sola, Xperia tipo, Xperia tipo dual and Xperia U) with more expected to be announced at IFA 2012 at the end of this month.

There is a fair argument to be made that perhaps Sony is releasing too many phones and perhaps a tighter focus on a smaller number of handsets would yield better sales. However, the fact that some of these handsets are being targeted to emerging markets at lower price points should mean a much wider distribution and accessibility across regions. Anyway, we wanted to ask you, which is your favourite Xperia launched in 2012 as things stand? Please vote in the poll and let us know why in the comments below.

    XPERIA P all the way!

  • ??

Still S, despite of banging my head against the wall every day I checked the PC companion just to find the ICS update hasn’t been released.

I “might” grab international GX later on, but it will depend greatly on the reviews and the price, as it doesn’t have the sexy transparent light bar

    Wtf?? 11 handsets in 6 months? They’ve gone crazy…

  • Alex

Xperia P – best of breed

  • Xperia Ion!

  • Mosaarthur

Without doubt Xperia S. A breathe of fresh air

  • Acro S!

  • Coollead

    Obviously the GX… ;)

    Only four more days… AHHH.

  • beri beri

Acro S >. my reason are : – It has very good specs ( dual core, big screen with 480 x 854, camera, compact design ) , and It is waterproof ( no afraid if it is being rain ) — but the lacks of removable batteray, and only micro sim

  • goldenblls

White Acro S. Tremendously good looking with a unique set of features.

  • littlej

xperia S because of the design and the built quality, this also goes to all the NXT series. What comes first into my mind when I hear Sony mobile, is uniqueness.

  • I voted for acro S but I love GX too. Actually, there is gonna be Xperia T (LT30) which is gonna be my fav one :)

  • 15923

    -.- It should be 1280×720

  • 15923

Come on:-D, i’m waiting for my dear lt29

  •  I’m Love With Xperia Acro S because Water resistant.Sony u always make awesome design For Mobile and gadget :D

  • Design: xperia ion
    Configuration: xperia GX

If only ion had S4 Krait CPU that would be my favourite phone.

  • 720 x 1280 pixels, 4.3 inches (~342 ppi pixel density)

  • bisits

Xperia S, All those phones are great, but there is only single problem with sony – their software updates simple sux!

  • I am looking for premium model from Sony )

  • Felipe Pimenta

Voted Xperia S, but I rather Xperia GX.

  • Isn’t it a little hard to vote for your favorite if you haven’t had/tried them all?
I have a Xperia S, but I’m on the verge of selling it(hate those crappy buttons and slow ICS, and the ergonomics).
First I had decided that I wanted the Acro S for the water resistance and better buttons, but then I realized that the GX/mint is coming out soon and I just love the design and specs (except I’d like a smaller screen).

Am I right that the GX/mint should come out soon internationally?

  • Sebasgl1

Xperia P.design and technology in a efficient package

  • Zak

    Acro S using normal sim.

  • xperia p because of its aluminium body ..

  • We need more choice, more products. The Xperia range is very limited in 2012.

  • Tohar Lalua

ghanta…I postedwa for Xperia S but bhating for the SL…ka bolat ho tu sab sasur log :)

  • 5tupido

Xperia Go it is almost like my xperia active but with steroids. That may be my next phone. Active is so tough that it’ll last forever till it gets broken. If Go is as tough than active I’ll be more than happy.

  • Fightingirish

My phone Sony Xperia P in Silver. Right size and the silver aluminium body. Hope that ICS will be rolled out for this phone soon.

  • deepu

    Dude it’s 720p not 480 x 854

  • paul4id

The 2012 phones are all the same form-factor, merely each gimped in different ways. They manage to release more phones in 2012, yet these are not as differentiated or as understandable to the customer as the 2011 devices! What a mess!

Xperia Pro FTW!! (even in 2012)

  • Donny

Xperia mint!!! Unfortunately it’s not up there!!!

  • jxPerience

for me the much awaited SONY XPERIA ACRO S, its the perfect phone for me.
    Durability? check
    Hd screen? check
    sd card slot? check
    dual core? check
    1080p video recording? check
    nfc? check
    hd front camera? check
    1g ram? check
    16 gb internal memory? check
    responsive home buttons? check

cant wait to get my hands on Xperia Acro S

  • jxPerience

okay 11 handsets in 6 months but only 7 of them are available on market world wide. What a lame strategy Sony!
you should release the best product first before the weak one. Example? they release xperia Go first instead of Xperia Arco S.

  • Dead_dreamz

Xperia P. Perfect size, Slick design with aluminium unibody. Great camera, white magic display, competitive price. What else can i say? Looks good (esp in black) and feels good in your hands too!

  • R Pedroso

But the SONY name lights up which I think is sooooo much more cooler

  • Dreamitwork

    Xperia s… my magic stick… ;-)

  • Fakeemail

And they all have pretty much all the same!
woulda be cool to see Hzo water proof XPeria! with removable battery that is__
    maybe impossible!?_

  • You all completely ignore the Live as an android smartphone. It’s nowhere on your 2011 specs/gallery lists, and you didn’t even mention it in this post as one of last year’s phones. So what if it’s not branded as Xperia, it’s still a SE 2011 android phone, and I think you should include it in your site.

  • M Usman

Xperia S. Why? because I own one hehe

  • My favorite Sony Xperia of 2012 is the Xperia Hyperion! Why? Because it has a powerful S4 Pro CPU along with 2GB RAM and a 12 MP Cybershot Exmor R CMOS sensor with dual LEDs and a Xenon flash!

  • Khiem Diep

Got Xperia S and loving it except for the fact that it is a little bit too big. I can’t reach everywhere with my thumb so I’m forced to move the phone up and down, and doing that using one hand will probably make me drop it sometime (hasn’t happened yet). So I voted Xperia P because it technically has all the features of S just a toned down version but in turn you get WhiteMagic and some cool material.

So yeah, I regret getting my Xperia S and would rather get a P at this point. I think I would be a much happier Xperia owner.

  • Averyko

xperia S design wise it’s my favourite and on the specs sheets its pretty close to every other handset available… So I love it… :D

  • The Truth Must Be Said

No QuadCore CPU, no HD AMOLED or IPS Screens, no good batteries. = None of them deserve to be one of my own stuff.

  • DragonClaw

Sad at how people prefer larger devices. :(
Nevertheless, blame it to Sony for keeping specs in the order of the device’s sizes.

  • dereknobuyuki

My Carrier has 4 Xperia phones: Xperia GX (LTE), Xperia SX (LTE), Xperia Acro HD (3G/HSPA), Xperia Play (3G/HSPA – but not 2012)

Rival carriers AU by KDDI also has the Xperia Acro HD (3G)

Basically, there are 4 Xperia devices in my market from 2012 so far and NONE of them are in the poll… orz

  • am I the only one who wants Xperia SX?

  • Sony Fanboy not

    sony’s flagship nozomi

  • wyvern

I love my xperia s except for one area that does my nut in every time. The home button at the bottom when typing i hit spacebar and it goes to the home screen once or twice and id think its just my fingers but its happened so often i get extremely pissed off with it. Which is a shame as most of the rest of the phone i like. I hope they decide to give a proper button in the next flagship

  • Pepe

Xperia S is a beautiful machine that not many people has appreciate it’s power.
    I love it.

  • Mehdi Moha

    i can’t find xperia play 2 !!!!!!!!!!!

none of them , all have same design .

  • No that’s the landscape form
720 x 1280 is the portrait form, which is the common way to hold your phone

  •  who cares?

  • Carl

    Stop trolling dude..

  • boosook

That’s one interesting point! The iPhone shows that there are many many people who want a full featured phone that it’s not too large, and this is true especially for women. I really can’t see why Android manufacturers do not understand this and lower screen sizes are always associated with lower camera and cpu specifications. That’s why so many people get an iPhone: they want a phone with the best available performance, good camera and that fits in their pocket. And this is something you cannot find in any manufacture lineup, because if you look for a (more or less) 3,7” screen you cannot have a decent camera and decent CPU.

  • DragonClaw

Xperia SX. That’s a very cool phone in that matter. iPhone 5 however, as some rumors pointed out, might be a big phone too. There has been a clear shift to larger phones. But still, like Sony did in 2011, they should make phones of all forms and sizes, but should try to make sure that they all run the powerful hardware.

  • xperia is bad smartphone because they have bad quality firmwares

  • I already own an Xperia S, and I love it. But after buying an Xperia Go for my dad, I fell in love with it, so I’m thinking of buying an Xperia Go as a secondary phone to use it when I go skiing or swimming or any other activity where I would have originally been worried about my phone getting damaged.

  •  I would only be interested if they released an aluminium one, like the one available for the Xperia P.

  • Micheal Archer

I’m a fan of the ion, although I purchased the Xperia S when it was first released.  At that time the ion was still advertised as an AT&T exclusive, plus I don’t live in an LTE coverage area.  I’m satisfied with the Xperia S, though I wouldn’t mind a software update in the very near future.

  • Paul Surgenor

Love my S but only got it cause the Acro S didnt look like it was hitting the UK anytime soon, Wish mine was waterproof and all that jazz!

  • InspectorGadget80

I still like the ion cause of it mp & it have sd card support. also lte! Ill wait for the xperia t.

  • rtardart

Acro S. It’s the phone I’ve been waiting for since my Desire. Just a tiny tad too big, but still the smallest 720p phone out there so I’ll live with that :) I honestly didn’t think I’d get to see the day when the most beautiful phone conceived has the highest PPI on the market AND is one I can have with me while taking a bath.

  • KammyTDC

Xperia P – I own one after all. Has everything I wanted in a phone except maybe a better battery :)

  • H-R-K

most of the brand release 2 quad core phone this year, even iPhone 5 come with quad core. so why Sony release a quad core phone?
