US retailer Best Buy has dropped the up-front fee on the AT&T Sony Xperia ion (LT28at). You can now purchase the phone for free, but will be subject to a two-year contract. If you go through AT&T directly, you’ll still be charged $99.99 upfront so it’s a decent saving. Best Buy also offers free shipping and store pick-up to sweeten the deal. Judging by the customer reviews on the Best Buy site, it seems as if many Xperia ion owners are very happy with the handset.

awesome! I bought mine for $29.99 from BB. Ion is one of the best AT&T phones with a very low price tag. I’ll pick up another one for my other line very soon.

Gave up on this phone when I heard about the LT29 & LT30, still a good deal for those who don’t have a smartphone.

… spent 50 bucks on it, should’ve gotten it a month later, o well, for those who are planning on getting this in the U.S., I think the Sony store has the same offer going on, just want to throw it out there =]

i like xperia ion but what stopping me to buy this mobile is 4 navigational keys. 3 keys is fine but with search button. NO WAY! so i bought xperia acro s instead of this. And i am very satisfied with my new phone.

Not only do we (Sony Store) have it for free but in California (not sure about other states) we charge tax on free so its free out the door. Where other places like best buy charge tax on the original price even tho it states free.

I bought mine in costa mesa, sony store, man sony reps can’t handle at&t contracts for sh#-t. they really messed up my contract. Good phone though.

  • Jonathan

I’m sorry for that man, I’ll let upper management know. I’m at the Beverly Center Sony and I’ve always handled the ATT contracts.

  • moe

Yea shouldve gone over there I guess. I already fixed it through at&t customer service because at SS they “couldn’t do nothing about it” Thanks anyways.
