New Xperia ion firmware (6.1.E.1.19) certified

in Firmware, Xperia ion

Many LTE Sony Xperia ion (LT28i) owners are still waiting for the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update to appear on their handsets. This is in contrast to the HSPA+ version of the Xperia ion (LT28h) which had ICS on release.

However, the LT28i Xperia ion could finally be nearing release judging by the latest firmware to be certified on the PTCRB website. Firmware version number 6.1.E.1.19 was certified yesterday and is the second ICS firmware to be certified after 6.1.E.0.211. We still have no confirmed timing on this, but given the usual rule of thumb of a firmware release around a fortnight after it hits PTCRB, expect it in mid-September (we hope).

Hope this is coming to Arc S too. Would be nice!

Maybe Sony will skip ICS for the American/European Ion and go for JB straight. The LT28H is supposed to be getting JB in a month or two I guess, the other Ions getting ICS in the same time just won’t be nice…

AT&T model just got a new firmware certified too: 6.1.C.1.105 From what I have been told by my friend at Sony the AT&T ICS rollout should start mid september.
