This is spectacular, as a different manufacturer would not update at all.
    Go Sony!

What about Xperia Sola ? Will not receive the ICS update ??

  • annoyed sony user

so the last half year all we read is this: “sony announces big stuff.. 1000 new phones… and then all we read is ‘update soon… update in near future… sony confirmed update within next days.. weeks.. months…” -.-

Can anyone using an official Sony Xperia build of Ice Cream Sandwich confirm that you really cannot cut or copy text from textboxes?!

When you long press on text in a textbox (on a website or typing in gmail, for example) you get this magnifying glass looking thing that zooms in to finely control your cursor position (something that strikes me as being very iOS-esque). I can’t actually highlight the text to bring up the cut/copy controls.

Does anyone else running Sony’s ICS build have the same issue?

I agree they could consolidate their resources on fewer phones which could then receive software updates in a more timely fashion, perhaps. ‘Better late than never’ seems to be the Sony motto these days.

Double tap will do the trick :-)

  • amsaKANNA C

my sola has got a problem now with the touchscreen similar to this
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/45545?start=0&tstart=0 Given to service center. Have to wait for 15 days. We people wait for ics update and now I feel my phone has become old because of this repair.

    What about Xperia sola??????
Does Sony even remember that there is a phone named Xperia sola……..

  • dereknobuyuki

    Thanks!
It seems counter-intuitive to double tap when you long press elsewhere
but it’s definitely great to know how to do that. Thanks again.

När egentligen kommer uppdateringen till xperia U!!!

  • Paulo Tavares

Ics this…ics that…pathetic. Go for Samsung. People are waiting for more than 5 months now and still no ics. I already bought another phone and will never buy sony again, its just like LG, promisses…promisses. in a few days every phone will have 4.1, but not sony.

  • Rahul Hamal

when is the update for xperia u coming

  • ShaRic19

What is the exact release date of Xperia U ICS update?

  • chi

Yes i an experiencing the same issue

  • dereknobuyuki

It’s not really an “issue” but more how they chose to implement it.
As Andreas pointed out below, double tap editable text to activate the highlighting UI
