[Poll Results] You want the Xperia V much more than the Xperia T/TX

by XB on 12/09/2012

in Xperia J, Xperia T, Xperia V

A week ago we ran a poll asking users which of the newly announced Sony Xperia handsets was their favourite. We presented four choices – the 4.6-inch Xperia T and Xperia TX variant, the 4.3-inch Xperia V and 4-inch Xperia J. Well, over two thousand people voted and the Xperia V came away as the runaway winner with 61% of the votes.

The Sony Xperia T had 20% of the votes, the Xperia TX had 17% and the Xperia J had a much-unloved 2% of the vote (probably not surprising given most people are biased towards the flagships here). Even if you combine the Xperia T and Xperia TX as one entry it would still only give you 37% of the vote, well behind the Xperia V. So there you have it Sony, get the Xperia V to the market in a timely fashion for a competitive price and you’ll have a winner on your hands.

  • Brapicoco

Well definitely xperia V will dominate the market. The Real H2 Flagship! :) have a taste of what innovation is like!

  • http://twitter.com/3lwee Mr.Alawi

well it’s not a surprise since Xperia V got more of what Xperia T/TX can provide … i hope that Xperia V will come out on the market soon

  • AlexBurnout

    Xperia T

  • jumpered

if xperia V get to the market in october i think that phone will be the new hype like samsung was etc, so i hope sony can actually kick samsung and apple and give them some competition now=)
but i dont think they can realease it later

  • http://twitter.com/cjgruber .cj

… with a dedicated camera button it would be the competitor to the nokia 920 or the iPhone5, sony just missed this opportunity

  • Coolkid

    Obvious, result is obvious…!!!

  • mz

I own an xperia ray right now and dread to buy anything larger or thicker, but Xperia V sounds the best out of the lot.Sony should ramp up its production and price it $399 or $450 max, even if its over $500 the prices do come down pretty quick :) And the S4 processor should remain competitive for atleast 2 years or so

  • luckystar

too bad not all countries will b getting Xperia V! :(((
hope 2013 sony will produce a SUPER XPERIA!

  • http://twitter.com/FQdeB Felix

Since then, I’ve changed my opinion:

I’d go for the TX: The phone itself is not bigger than the V, but the screen IS a lot bigger. I am careful enough not to need a waterproof phone, and with some tweaks you can make the volume buttons act as a shutter button. I only need an sd card slot, which is why I choose the TX above the T.

  • lovebmw

dude, your message is confusing…. are you saying the TX does not have a camera button?

  • mz

You can buy any phone use it almost any where on 2G, if it breaks down then your in trouble ;)

  • mz

Does any one know if Xperia V sides have metal/aluminium ir is that nicely painted plastic too?

  • Regular

If the V does come to Canada, it’ll be hard to decide which phone to get. >.<

  • lovebmw

well here is the confusing part, i am more worried about the fast capture, i saw the V commercial, and they have a new intuitive way of performing fast capture
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sabceviTlEE look at second 36

but that has to be a two step process right?

  • mz

Well number of steps depend,if the phone is in your pocket (thats another step), but the responsiveness of the new S4 seems to be virtually lagfree so starting the camera will be the quickest of steps ;)

How I wish I can get xperia v on my birthday!!!Sony please release this in malaysia or else they will go for htc devices…..

  • ray user

Sony already produce Xperia S,U,P now wait for Xperia E & R, before Sony make the Xperia SUPER ;)

  • http://twitter.com/FQdeB Felix

Oh it does have one, I thought only the V had one. Well that makes the choice easier.

  • lovebmw

the V has no LED notification?

  • H-R-K

why Sony is so late to give mobile phone in our hand?

  • dereknobuyuki

It seems like a lot of people really want the new Exmor RS stacked sensor camera module and IPX5/7 water and dust resistance. Can’t wait to see what the next product cycle will bring us.

Perhaps an LTE stylish yet powerful with a decent battery Xperia Acro 2013 or Xperia Nexus or some other nice sounding potential 1H 2013 Xperia device with Key Lime Pie. I’m looking forward to it.

  • dereknobuyuki

    The opposite.
TX/GX = Dual Stage hardware button for camera, touch to capture, and onscreen button options
V = may not have the hardware button but likely still has the other options.

I’ve tried Japanese market phones that use the volume buttons for a shutter and it felt counter-intuitive since I expect volume keys to control zoom. (Instead, I had to swipe left/right to control the zoom which is even more counter-intuitive)

Seems like you have enough reason to go after the TX or wait for those few extra features of the V to come to a TX like model next year.

  • arrowthefirst

lumia 920 is epic fail because of its OS. And Iphone5 is a competitor of xperia p, not these devices.

  • crazychef

well i see that alot of people talk about dedicated camera button but hey the iphone doesn’t have one and it sells like hotcakes. so i dont understand why the pressure for a dedicated camera button on the v. and yes xperia v might seem like the better phone on paper but is it?

  • http://www.facebook.com/ToxiD8 Tomáš Hoffmann

I don’t know but the V has too small display for me. It would be fine if it had a hardware keyboard but it got the Google panel which reduces the size of display. That’s the only reason I would rather get the T so it is pretty annoying.

  • http://www.facebook.com/yasir.fawad Yasir Fawad

iPhone 5 announced! but busted poor iphone. no innovations. long live Xperia V, my new Smart phone,

  • http://www.facebook.com/georgesmh Georges Mhanna

the deal breaker for me is the absence of the wet tracking technology on the V. will get the acro s instead since the device is available in my country now

  • Rene Pedroso

    It does

  • r41nier

What is fail with WP8? If Sony has one, I Would choose it over an Android Sony. WP8 is a very good OS.

  • paul4id

I think Sony could have done a better job in shrinking the dimensions of the Xperia V, whilst at the same time keeping the screen size the same. It makes no sense that it is almost the same physical size as the T/TX which both have larger screens.

  • djabag

Pre ordered a Xperia V in Sweden today, and it says deliverance on the 28 of November.
    Price SEK4990,- (USD770,-)

  • Xlash Andraid

Off topic, but you guys of XperiaBlog are planning to compare Xperia T, V or TX against iPhone 5? I want to see how Xperias kick iPhone’s ass.

  • Khiem Diep

Well, to be fair, I bet a lot of the readers read your article “Xperia V is the real flagship” or whatever you guys called it. If you guys did the poll before that article, your poll would have more accurate results. Instead you have a group of potentially “corrupted” people.

I personally chose Xperia V based mostly on the fact that Xperia T/TX is so big and that Xperia J is too weak. I couldn’t care less about the specs. I easily chose Xperia P (which has the perfect size btw) over Xperia S.

  • malih

finally someone who also appreciate WP8, I thought it was only me, although I’ll only be buying flagship WP8 device if its made by Sony

  • dereknobuyuki

I think the video is unclear though as to whether you can just use the regular quick launch or quick launch and capture options… or whether they have added a new option to the unlock-to-camera feature to allow you to “unlock to camera and capture as soon as possible”.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s nothing new here and unlock to camera doesn’t get a new feature (but you can always just use the camera hardware button with the existing launch and capture option) and that the video was just editing in a way to make it seem really fast to launch and capture.

It’s already reasonably quick though (less than two seconds including the time it takes to “long press” but camera button). Currently, if the phone is not in your pocket, it’s a one step process ( hold down the camera button, it quick launches and quick captures )

  • mike_b

Right now i don’t think anything will sway my mind away from the gorgeous Xperia TX, well until Sony re-imagine the arc shape again next year. Honestly though i think Sony did and excellent job designing these phones, it shows that you can take the same philosophy, the same muse, the same idea of the Original Arc and have something different, yet even more alluring.

  • afzal

I bet xperia v will arriving in malaysia soon enough. Cause the device were lte enable not just lte alone device.

  • Metanol

The Xperia T/TX is not so much bigger than Xperia V, check the dimensions, its almost the same however V has a smaller screen.

  • Metanol

Yeah especially since I saw the Iphone 5 specs, its not so innovative

  • Metanol

    +1 I agree

  • http://www.facebook.com/gagan.palia Gagan Palia

I am waiting a new version of mini pro may be Sony xperia MP

  • mountain

Does anyone know where is the SD card slot is in xV? The reason why I ask is because SD card is hot swappable in xT, but not in xTX, because it is under the battery.

  • http://twitter.com/GhareebSaeed Ghareeb Saeed

I know the V has all the powerful features but I will go for the T and I don’t know why I feel like it suits me in every kinda ways I told you it was love at first sight and not to mention its a SONY smartphone LONG LIVE XPERIA FAMILY SONY make.believe.

  • http://twitter.com/GhareebSaeed Ghareeb Saeed

Apple = iPod pretty much it!

  • Memo

The only reason I’m getting xperia TX instead of V is the thickness the V ( really thick 10.7 mm)

  • lovebmw

i agree, 35 million cutomers can now open their eyes into other phones, this is Sony’s chance to hit hard…. come on Sony lets start

  • mark

hmm… according from the site PhoneArena it says A6 chip powers a Dual-core or Quad-core based on an A-15 architecture but its not certain. if so, i think A6 is a serious competitor against the S4 krait.

  • Ryan

    Iphone 5 vs xperia V plssss !!

  • ivanprskalo

Only thing missing is right pricing…

  • Khiem Diep

Guess I should’ve done my research better. Definitively would go for a Xperia T then. Although in both cases, they are way too big and I won’t buy any of them. This make me very content with owning my Xperia P

  • Metanol

    TX is thicker than V

  • Wasea Taranovici

    Definetly a Xperia TX!

  • george

yeah but ios 6 is a joke
