Sony Mobile confirmed today that the Xperia T (LT30p) is HD voice certified (GSMA accreditation). As the name suggests, HD Voice brings an extra level of clarity to your calls even in noisy environments. This means that consumers can talk normally and be heard clearly, without having to raise their voice.

This technology isn’t new though, a whole range of Sony Xperia handsets already have HD Voice capability. This includes the Xperia NXT family (S, P and U), Xperia ion, Xperia tipo/tipo dual, Xperia arc/arc S, Xperia neo, Xperia mini/mini pro, Xperia ray and Xperia PLAY.

However, there are limitations. HD Voice is only available between two HD capable phones and between customers on the same 3G network (this includes calls between T-Mobile and Orange networks in the UK; Three UK also has HD voice support). Hear a demonstration of how much difference to calls this technology can make here.

Beat me to it XB. I was goner say my Xperia S has HD voice calling and is on orange and enabled. I love this feature when calling another HD enabled phone on the same network. Call clarity is exceptional. I just hope it becomes a standard and in the future works cross network!

I wish telcos in the Philippines supported HD Voice.

Of course it is. All sony (ericsson) devices since 2011 are hd voice compatible. It is not new.

call between S and U is crystal clear :)

  • M Usman

that’s not true. it started off with the Xperia Arc then Arc S etc. Not all devices since 2011 support HD Voice Calling

I don’t wanna imagine you having phone sex on any call. voice or video, hd or two cups and string :-D

  • but..

The thing about this HD voice is… While the other side can hear me crystal clear, i often am unable to make out what the other party’s saying under bad reception area… lol

I am have Xperia Mini Pro sk17 on T-Mobile UK network.
so how do i enable HD Voice ?

the only option i found was
    “Settings>DEVICE(Call Settings)>Other Call Settings(Noise suppression)”
    Reduce background noise during call
    Is this it ?

I live in Italy ad I use TIM
When I experienced HD voice I thought a malfunction!
    I wish to disable it!

Even the C905 had HD support, which is great btw. HD support and noise cancelling make for a much clearer conversation.

  • goldenblls

it works automatically. The phone must already have it installed and your network must support it.

  • M Usman

    yes

  • M Usman

LOL then it’d be your loss not mine. ;)

  • goldenblls

That not true either as it didn’t start off with the Arc etc. Both the Sony Ericsson Hazel and Elm were HD Voice ready.
