Source code for Android 4.2 Jelly Bean released

in Android

Google has now pushed the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean source code to the AOSP (Android Open Source Project). The SDK platform is now available to developers, so hopefully we will see some custom ROMs based on Android 4.2 appear in the not too distant future.

The SDK includes access to a number of features including interactive lock screen widgets, a ‘Daydream’ interactive screensaver mode, support for external displays and native RTL support. We do hope that Sony received the PDK prior to this and is already hard at work optimising Android 4.2. Time will tell.

I love sony, but if I am honest I can really only see my next upgrade being a nexus device. My Xperia S is amazing, but the cost and feature packed nexus 4 makes this a no brainier! The only thing putting me off is that LG made the current device…urgh! hate that company, hopefully nexus 5 will be some else…maybe a sony device we can only hope haa!

    Oops – corrected, thx!

  • Currently own the Xperia T and I can see JB coming this time around next year. Song too slow for updates, as much as I love the T I really wanna change to the nexus 4

enjoying 4.2 on my Gnex, and im waiting for my nexus 4. :) sony will definitely give u guys the update next fucking year! haha. wait till another ver of android comes out before u guys get the 4.2. still stuck at ICS while others are enjoying 4.1.1 and 4.1.2

  • Poor samsung nexus guy

LOL!! While we’re using a STABLE android version with innovative features from Sony [FYI, the “multiple users” feature on Nexus 10 is a copycat feature of Sony Xperia Tablet S], you nexus folks are “enjoying” the unstable android with unusable/ordinary features(basicly, you guys being guinea pigs of Android). .
And I’m VERY sure that Sony will make sure it’s stable and perfectly optimized[unlike Optimus G, LG is poor at optimization] plus some useful, innovative feature [unlike sammy and apple that copies every shit].
