Xperia AX gets long-winded root method

in Tips & Tricks, Xperia - Japan Models

The Sony Xperia AX (SO-01E) for Japan’s NTT DoCoMo has now been rooted. However, this is no easy one-click method like some of the ones we’ve seen in the past. It’s quite a complicated process that should only be attempted by those who know what they are doing. Xperia-Freaks has the full instructions which involves flashing the AU rom for the Xperia VL (essentially the same phone), rooting the handset and then flashing back to DoCoMo firmware. Click here for the full rundown.

    Crazy Japanese ppl!!

Good job! Now port MBE2 and ClearAudio+ to older xperia devices! :)

I always thought MBE2 and ClearAudio are both hardware base tech, until someone told me recently.

  • APai

    “until someone told me recently.”
as in ? don’t all the new xperia share pretty much the same platform / SoC ? maybe that’s why its easy to port stuff from one model to another ?

on another note, I simply do not understand sony’s point of view to enable MBE2/ clear audio on one phone, and not on others , especially if they all cost roughly the same and they all share the same SoC. wierd !

  • Quark Gluon

Well I guess MBE2 and ClearAudio+ are both fresh from the oven. They would likely to put it on their devices from Xperia V onward. Just like the old MBE.

ClearAudio is not a feature, it is an audio quality requirement you have to fulfill.

  • Quark Gluon

No. ClearAudio+ is a digital signal processing, just like Bravia Engine, except this one is for audio. It enhances sound quality, most effectively for poor audio files which loss their quality throughout compression process. You might confuse it with HD Voice, which is indeed a new high standard by GSMA for voice during call.

indeed, & some people in xda-developer who own xperia 2011 device already using the clearaudio+ technology. :)

  • Quark Gluon

They’re still working on it. And I’m not sure about current ClearAudio+ mods since they said it was from Xperia T and Tablet S, because I think ClearAudio+ is only available on Xperia V.

I thought they require some hardware to do those kind of processing, all the phones uses the similar soc doesn’t mean Sony can not included a few processor of their own to work with audio and video processing. Like Vita using similar parts as ipad but also included media engine 2.

Picked up a T, and noticing that these new phones have features that aren’t mentioned. Maybe it’s time that this site added a board for users.

  • dereknobuyuki

You mean a board like the rarely used forums?

Too bad they don’t have enough users to make it worth using ~__~
