Xperia S Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware leaked

in Android, Firmware, Xperia S

We may still have a six-week wait until Sony officially releases the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the Xperia S (LT26i), but if you want to see what’s in store then you’ll be glad to hear the firmware has leaked. Firmware version 6.2.B.0.68 brings with it Android 4.1.2 and a new 3.4 kernel to the handset.

As with any leaked ROM there are a number of things that do not work including the ability to get a network signal, so only download this if you want to try the new features. It is developer firmware that has been ported to production devices and therefore will only work on phones with an unlocked bootloader. You can install this using recovery and full download links are at xda-developers.

Thanks Andy, Domino, Muhammad & Murad!

about time. i hope we see it fast like xperia T after their leak. after all xperia s was a flagship so it has priority over the smaller ones

The Xperia names already confusing, why make it more confusing? :P
    Sony Xperia SP = SXPSP
    Sony Xperia ZL = SXPZL
Sooner or later, if they keep it at this pace, they will most likely start with 3 lettered Xperia. Confusion will be OVER 9000 !!!

installed it today after i read that News and tested it a few ours… it runs smooth and fast as hell! never thought that the S was able to bring such a nice Performance… smooth Scrolling, faster app starts… and the best: 700MB of usable ram instead of 630!!! that means: clean System 320MB free after boot… basically set up System 270MB after boot… (on ICS 240MB/180MB)

For phone enthusiasts like us, this is a great news! I sometimes root my phone for the purpose of testing the true potential out, and unroot it after that because I want to keep the OTA updates. This is a good chance to take a glimpse on the next update before official release. Remember to save a backup before doing it though!

You are so smart! It’s like S2 or One S got JB a week before it was anounced! Cmon. Everyone has to wait a few months for updates so don’t try and be smart!

I’ll do my best. Like a Sir.

  • Fraulein

Why abbreviate Xperia at all? You’re model doesn’t make anything clearer. If the model name is P, call it P. Anything else will add confusion in the long run.
