Xperia Z is baby-proof [Video]

UK mobile operator, Three, used a cute baby to show off some of the rugged and water resistant qualities of the Sony Xperia Z. We don’t learn anything new from the video but the message from the ad is a strong one i.e. the way that people think of a phone should change dramatically once you know you can stick it in a bath.

Such water resistant phones may be common place in Japan, but they are relatively rare in the western world, especially when it comes to flagship devices. It’s therefore no surprise the video concentrates on this feature, likely to be unique amongst all other flagships released this year. Saying that though, we’re still not sure we’d let a baby bash around a phone so expensive. Check out the video below.

I just showed this to my sister with her 1 week old girl. She said “my next payment check, that one will be mine!’ Although I couldn’t convince her to not take the purple one…

Really good phone but price is way to high. :-( Sticking with my Live with Walkman for now :-)

Of course water-resistant smartphones are rare in the western world. They cut into the carrier’s bottom lines because it makes it harder for them to dig into our pockets more by way of selling additional insurance on the phone :)

I think why iphone can sell at such a high price, why sony cant? while the previous model like xperia s, t/tx and v didnt sell for a top price like iphone did, this time z is worth every buck for a top price.

  • David Lettinga

    There Sony’s commercial right there

  • Lunkz

You’re right, why people spend so much money for the iphone but complaining about the high price the xperia z? After a month the prize falls down…

Will you be able to change the Xperia Z’s system language if the unit is bought elsewhere (i.e. Japanese model phone)

  • Name

looks like the device has already sold out in asda. temporarily out of stock. or maybe they’re trying to conserve their stock and capitalize on customers’ pent up excitement.

Yes you can, most phones have english, even if it’s a region specific phone. If your native language is not english, well, it depends

  • Dinky

Is there an unlocked model for Xperia Z in Japan?

  • Alvin

Anybody know when Sony’s MWC event started? what I know is just on February 25th at morning…

Put a commercial like this in the US and maybe some people will start to notice Sony. That and air it as often as samsung airs their commercials lol. I hate never seeing any Sony phones in people’s hands. Expect people I made buy one lol.

This should be the main video to help to sell this phone, the message is very strong in my opinion.
