Xperia ion firmwareA new firmware version (6.1.C.1.111) was recently certified for AT&T’s Xperia ion (LT28at). This is the first new firmware certified since August last year (6.1.C.1.105). Judging by the minor number update, we expect this to be a bug fix update only. The Xperia ion is expected to receive the Jelly Bean update at the same time as the Xperia S and acro S, so keep an eye out for it from next month.

    hmm, ok.

New firmware has just certified for Xperia V! 9.1.A.1.138

If they don’t update JB for xperia s on late march early april like they said … i ‘ll definitely cancel sony about mobile phones… or if something wrong they can say something about or talk something more about xperia s like that to say what updates will get when or something like that… definitely not fair to xperia s costumers… (late ICS because of waiting to update their 2011 older phones than late JB because they update first the new phones xperia j,v,t such a great politic bravo ! )

  • James King

Fyi the AT&T ion isn’t expected to get JB. AT&T isn’t going to release it.

  • BreastMilk for Xperia S users

Why do most Xperia S owners always make a post about themselves and their devices. If you want to jump ship and join Samsung that gets their design inspiration from washing machines then go ahead. Humans aren’t perfect, so expect anything we create to be slightly “off” same applies to updates and such. Proud laggy, freezy, glitchy Xperia Go user right here!

  • sfordesign

I wish you enjoy your laggy freezy and glitchy Xperia go while without support. And yeah, I will leave the laggy freezy and glitchy Xperia by jumping ship to the lumias. Yes, nothing is perfect but Xperia 2012 is too far from decent.

  • Dime

you are far away from company that should be like … you accept your xperia with that bugs i guess you are joking or you are to much fan of sony so you dont care about your phone and sony xperia if they won’t to compete with companies like samsung and apple with this kind of progress they are also far away … my xperia s is waiting the update at the end and they have done many wrong things like updates to xperia 2011 before xperia s to get ICS and now first will get xperia t,v,j and mine not its not the same politic as 2011 xperias that is why i’m nervous …

  • DIme

(if they want to copmete )*

  • Ben-Amie Lim

    yay Ion! :)

  • Still sucking on that Breast

Calm down chucky cheese, of course im pissed about my Xperia not working how it should but I trust sony will fix it soon enough with JB if they don’t then well ill have to make due with what I have (Sorry im not rich). Sony said what aswell? April something for your “S” update… You’ll get it soon enough so stop being a child with all that jealousy…PLUS you guys are probably going to get exclusive stuff with JB sooo load a light rom or bare with the problems till you get it :)

  • Canadian man!

Hey that’s the wonderful thing about Android is that I can load a custom rom when support drops. oh and good go! jump and swim with em sharks I hope Microsoft/nokia w/e dont screw you over too bad when they come out with WP8.5 or 9 then drop support for your device like they did WP7 users when 8 came out <—– i'm sure something like that happened (Hope im right lmao) :)

  • sfordesign

ofc they will drop support, and i recently found the mistake i made when choosing my android. i want a stable and fast phone that gets the job done plus a good enough camera. i thought my ion could reach my expectations but it basically failed all of them! for a phone with a dual core processor and 1gb of ram plus a so called 12mp camera… seriously?!. In addition, you never know when it’s gonna suddenly close the brower, gmail apps, or some games that you are CURRENTLY using/playing without any notification. Now back to windows phones: they don’t need that much support because they are stable, fast, and get the job done in nature; camera just depends on the manufacturer. So that’s why there ain’t that much rages while a company said they ain’t gonna update their windows phones anymore.

  • Dan

There has yet to be any announcement on the AT&T version. But on the other hand, Sony has confirmed that the Xperia ion is expected to get the update. At&t usually takes a bit longer than international releases if it does go with it.

  • Dime

We will wait and see … i also trust sony ericsson and now sony sience sony ericsson t100

  • Pulkit Anand

When is the update for the At&t version of the Sony Xperia Ion supposed to come out? Any ideas?

  • Spectre51

    It’s not.

  • Pulkit Anand
  • Spectre51

It’s coming for the ion just not AT&T’s version. At least we can flash the international firmware.

  • Pulkit Anand

How will that be done? Do I need a rooted device or download some files for it?

  • caa3rd

Just updated to 111. Seems much faster w

  • Pulkit Anand

Yeah it is a bit smoother but i don’t see any other changes or improvements

  • Pulkit Anand

Yeah it is a bit smoother but i don’t see any other changes or improvements

  • vesra

How are you so damn sure? You offer no proof, other than your own word. Seem more an att troll than informative, without any actual proof.

  • Spectre51

Haha a troll huh. Guess you don’t read the forums at http://www.xda-developers.com I have a friend at Sony and have shared what I can with the forums there quite a bit. My track record has been very good but you don’t have to believe me if you don’t want. I don’t care, but don’t be disappointed when you don’t see an update.

  • Pulkit Anand

So if it is not coming out, the JB update can be achieved by flashing the Lt28i firmware on the phone, correct? But I have this question – After flashing the firmware, will I loose 4G LTE on my phone?

  • Spectre51

Yes you can use the LT28i firmware just fine. You will not lose LTE because the LT28i supports LTE as well. You will lose the bloatware, gain wifi hotspot ability and still have LTE. (as for the wifi hotspot I have used it numerous times and AT&T hasn’t said anything yet)

  • Pulkit Anand

I have researched on the process of how to flash the firmware on this website:

    http://www.andromods.com/basic-how-to/step-by-step-install-official-sony-firmware-updates-images-flashtool.html

Do I loose any settings and/or my apps if I flash the firmware? I have everything ready and just have to start.

  • Pulkit Anand

I lost my data using ability after flashing the new firmware. any fix to that?

  • Spectre51

You have to manually add you AT&T apn settings on the international firmware.

  • Pulkit Anand

Can you tell me the steps to do that? Or do I have to go to At&t and ask for the activation?

  • Spectre51

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27979729&postcount=4

Create the apn under settings – wireless & networks – mobile networks – access point names

  • Pulkit Anand

any specific values I have to put in for each of the sections?

  • Spectre51

That link I posted has screenshots of what you need to input.

  • Pulkit Anand

Oh, I overlooked that link. Thank you very much.

  • Pulkit Anand

After getting the firmware, I am unable to root my phone. I have tried all methods but it does not work. Any ideas on how to root my device?

  • Spectre51

This will root the latest lt28i firmware.

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2204321

  • Pulkit Anand

Thank you very much for the link.

  • Pulkit Anand

One more question – when is the estimated date of the JB update for the Sony Xperia Ion Lt28i? And since I have flashed the international firmware, will I get the update OTA or do I have to flash the JB firmware too?

  • nyo

Minor fix? No jb for this built number?

  • vesra

Well well well, so how does that crow taste? Being petty is bitter sweet. Sure it tastes way better than that crow smothered in your own words.

  • Spectre51

No crow here because apparently you can’t read. Did I say it wasn’t coming out at all? No I said it wasn’t coming out for the AT&T ion the LT28at. In fact here is exactly what I said just in case you can’t look a few posts up, “It’s coming for the ion just not AT&T’s version.”

Sooooo…why don’t you take your idiocracy (great movie BTW) and go somewhere else because I still have no been proven wrong. There STILL is NO jellybean for the AT&T ion. Begone with you.

  • Pulkit

True, I have not seen an update for the At&t version either. Anyways, do you know when the update will come out for the Lt28i? It was supposed to come out by the end of May but I have seen nothing.

  • Spectre51

I would expect it within the week or next. Shouldn’t be too far behind the LT28h though I don’t have definite info regarding international devices and their firmware.

  • Pulkit

Oh, alright. I’ve been waiting for the update for so long. I need some change in my device. Sony better hurry up.
