in Xperia Z and Xperia ZL

rogers-xperia-zl-pricingEarlier this week we reported that the Sony Store in Canada was listing the Xperia ZL for C$674.99 (locked to Rogers) along with a 2 April launch. Now, a leaked inventory picture appears to show that Rogers off-contract pricing for the handset will come in C$50 cheaper at C$624.99. It will also be available on a three-year contract for C$124.99. The 2 April launch date is also cited. Given the close proximity to launch, further details should be available very soon.

    3 year contracts. How horrible.
They also sometimes offer 2 year contracts. But then the phone still costs 600.
    Should be a crime.

not to be sold until april second? does that mean the us will see it soon? and what does this say for the ever elusive c6606?

You think that’s bad. In Mexico it’ll cost 900 USD off-contract.

Usually the 2 year contract pricing is $50-100 more than the 3-yr pricing, and a one-year contract can sometimes be had for an additional $100-150. But 3 year contracts are the norm here in Canada, although there are discussions of making them illegal at some point in the future.

As for the US seeing this handset, I have distinct memories of a 6-month delay between Canada and the US in earlier Sony and SE handsets. This release means nothing in terms of when the US will see the ZL. As for the 6606, no word yet means who knows. The 6606 could be released in two weeks, two months, or never…
