in Videos, Xperia E

Firefox OS Xperia EEarlier this year, we were surprised as anyone to learn that Sony Mobile is planning to launch a Firefox OS device in 2014. To show its intent, the company released an experimental Firefox OS ROM at the end of February for the Sony Xperia E (C150X). At the time we saw a short video of Firefox OS on the handset, but we’ve now come across a more detailed video (in Czech) giving a tour of the UI and features. To our eyes, the OS looks quite sluggish, perhaps not surprising given it is not expected to go live until next year. Check it out below.

    Nothing new.

Seriously why the hell have a Firefox phone? What do Mozilla have experience in doing other than browsers and e-mail clients? Seems such a pointless exercise, Sony should put all their efforts into Android and maintaining these phones, or if not, I’d at least go with Windows Phone instead.

Not to mention it looks like sh*t

    How about the Vita OS?

reason is simple – low end android devices dont work well, at all… unless you have nice dual core and 1 GB of RAM, you better not buy android…hence firefox OS was made.

Can Sony Ericsson Xperia 2011 set can use this OS ?

  • ShinOrochiX

Android once could easily run on low end devices (GB and below) but it has been further developed and now it is much more resource heavy. Same may probably happen to Firefox OS-now it seems light but several years later it would probably become resource heavy as more features are added.
