Sony H2 flagship rumour mill: Details on ‘Togari’ and ‘Honami’

by XB on 28th April 2013

in Featured Content, Rumours, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1

sony-logoSony Mobile is currently working on two new flagship handsets that will be released in the second half of this year. We have known the existence of the phones codenamed ‘Honami’ and ‘Togari’ for some time now, but with very few details. All we’ve known for sure is that the Togari will come with a display size larger than that of the Honami. However, reports from a number of Asian sites are providing some juicy rumours to digest.

The first is from a forum poster on Baidu who claims he is a tester for Sony Xperia devices. He starts with Togari, which is believed to sport a 6.44-inch 1080p display with a design similar to the Xperia Z. It is believed to be very slim (much like the Xperia Z and Xperia Tablet Z) with a glass back.

There will at least be a white colour option with a white bezel. This should appeal to those who like the all-white look of the Xperia ZL versus the Xperia Z version, which has a black face and white side/rear. The phone (or phablet if you prefer) could be launched as early as July in Japan. This ties in with the previous rumour we reported on Togari.

However, more interesting is ‘Honami’, which is believed to be the company’s ‘One Sony’ model – offering the best Sony tech in one chassis. Honami is believed to sport a 5-inch 1080p display, dedicated Walkman audio chip (S-Master MX Digital Amplifier?) and a 20MP Cyber-shot CMOS sensor with Carl Zeiss lens.

The tester goes on to say that Honami will be one of the most attractive phones Sony has ever made, even more so than the Xperia Z and iPhone 5. Honami could also see a July release, in Asia at least. Both Honami and Togari are said to be water and dust resistant.

Some of the above information is corroborated by Chinese site ePrice. It says that Honami will debut in China (with Unicom) in July and then see an international launch in August or September. This would most likely be at IFA, a traditional launch venue for H2 Sony Xperia handsets.

Honami may end up running the Snapdragon 800 chipset with 2.3GHz quad-core processor and Adreno 330 graphics says ePrice along with 2GB RAM and an embedded battery with 2700 to 3000mAh capacity. It also cites a 20MP camera sensor and says that it will come with a xenon flash and dual LED.

Lastly, another site, VR-Zone, says that the handset may run a Triluminos display according to its own sources. It also talks about the possibility of the Snapdragon 800 chipset and mentions a 16MP camera, instead of the 20MP sensor above.

Whilst all of the above are firmly rumours first and foremost, it’s hard to not be excited if they come anywhere close to being true. We’ll keep you posted with developments on both Honami and Togari.

Via Baidu, ePrice and VR-Zone.

Thanks Bob!

and amplifier for walkman

i think that’s like a fu..cuk in samsung as..s

4 Keon Fraites April 28, 2013 at 18:18

Once Xperia Z doesn’t end up like Xperia S I have no quarrels with them releasing the phones.

5 Vasan Ramesh April 28, 2013 at 18:20

Wow! Perhaps they’ll release three flashgrip models next year?

I just gave away my Xperia S to get an Xperia Z! :/
Now I’m left to wonder if these two and the cheaper L & SL will get the 4.2.2 updates, before my XZ !

My next phone surely won’t be Sony, if they release another flashgrip this year!
Unless, you know; if it’s a nexus!

7 Nidhal Akatheking April 28, 2013 at 18:27

Samsung’s dick will be chopped off if these specs are real!

Bring it up Sony! It’s about time people understand why Sony is our favorite brand ;)

9 lovebmw April 28, 2013 at 18:31

Don’t care about mp, care about the software it self

10 lovebmw April 28, 2013 at 18:32

Why do you want, 4.2.2? Convince me, I have a z with 4.1. What’s do different?

11 Rizky Maulana April 28, 2013 at 18:33

i just need 2core krait with 2gb ram, jus it :’)

12 Vineet Kumar April 28, 2013 at 18:35

2.3 GHz processor…..

13 panagi?tis April 28, 2013 at 18:36

and the flagships keep coming every 6 months or less. xperia s all over again and a reason to avoid sony phones

14 Cristi13 April 28, 2013 at 18:39

So why xperia z couldn’t be like this, I mean again 5 flagships a year and the old ones left in the dust. Why it can’t a single one with all your best features. How many “the best of sony in a smartphone” exist?

15 Nidhal Akatheking April 28, 2013 at 18:40

No alternative to Sony.

16 Akram Ahmed April 28, 2013 at 18:43

i think it will better than z and s4 anyway cause sony wanna win the battle this year and do it’s best

17 Akram Ahmed April 28, 2013 at 18:45

they can’t o that,,,they must make at least 2 flagships to cope with other companies phonesphones

18 Felix April 28, 2013 at 18:49

Samsung manages to have one flagship each year (Galaxy Note has the same internals). Apple has one flagship every 2 years (dismissing the s ones).

19 Raymond April 28, 2013 at 18:51

Gotta love Cyber-Shot sounds good too me that’s the old Sony (Ericsson) I know and loved. Fantastic.

20 Mumbira April 28, 2013 at 18:51

But it exactly will end up like the X10/S/T/V…

The Z was released 2 month ago and now they think about a Z remake, 2 newer phones and and and….

AND as it isn’t enough, the first newer phones come in TWO month…
The Z had a even shorter lifetime than the S.

21 Cristi13 April 28, 2013 at 18:53

My point is that last year they had 6.flagships and we all know what happened to the s,acro s and ion. I hope they don’t do this again again why xperia z couldn’t had that camera with xenon flash and that battery in the first place?

22 Leon April 28, 2013 at 18:54

please, not TFT displey :(

23 Felix April 28, 2013 at 18:55

Let’s hope Sony delivers a good picture quality this time. It’s been a long time since they had the best camera phone. Arc was decent, but too much compression, Xperia S was good, but SGS3 was better, Xperia T was disappointing, Xperia Z was just moderate.

24 Rene Pedroso April 28, 2013 at 18:56

25 TechGuyChris April 28, 2013 at 18:59

It’s not coming to the U.S lol. If itdoes, the carriers wont buy it. will have to get unlocked lol. Idk whats up with US carriers lol

26 ProWeirdo April 28, 2013 at 19:01

If it will cost max. $100 more than Xperia S just on sale, I’ll come back to Sony! I wish these specs will be true!

27 Max Gonzales April 28, 2013 at 19:02

everybody want:
-OLED DISPLAY 443ppi!!!
-white magic display
-bravia engine 2 pro o better!
-triluminos display
-cybert shot 16 – 20 MP
-Chipset Walkman dedicado!
-chipset Snapdragon 800 con 2,3 GHz de procesador quad-core y Adreno 330
-the best designed in all world
-please, not TFT display :(

Sony is the best company in the world. Sony can do it all, because haves the enought tecnology!!!

28 ProWeirdo April 28, 2013 at 19:03

Don’t be so sure. Wait on iPhone 5S and SGS V + you don’t know how much will these Xperias cost.

29 PowerSonic April 28, 2013 at 19:06

sounds like alot to take.. kinda hard to digest.. hope that they maintain the older ones also well at the same time…

30 Akram Ahmed April 28, 2013 at 19:08

i phone 5s won’t be a revolution on words of theri company tehmselves i think it will be like sony xperia z u can say i phone 6 better
and sgs4 is a great phone but if these information about honami is true it will be better farway from sgs4
and yes it must be toooooo expensive
look at z now itt’s still expensive wat about this!! :D

31 aj April 28, 2013 at 19:10

Sgs3 camera is awful bro….and xperia x10 camera was great :)

32 Akram Ahmed April 28, 2013 at 19:11

we all hope so

2 updates for sony xperia v and and z till nw

33 Sanjaya Kanishka April 28, 2013 at 19:11

34 Akram Ahmed April 28, 2013 at 19:11

37 Amit Sheokand April 28, 2013 at 19:28

sony in 2015:-
xperia XCEUMAS

38 Luis April 28, 2013 at 19:32

Sure, they’ll make it, only after releasing lower end phones and waiting abit until people buy those then release it :P

39 Sanjaya Kanishka April 28, 2013 at 19:38

40 ShinOrochiX April 28, 2013 at 19:50

If the ‘Honami’ specs are true then that is absolutely amazing, most probably the best smartphone ever to have be made. Hopefully Sony can pair exquisite hardware with peerless software. ;-)

41 PRo April 28, 2013 at 19:52

And TSUNAMI then :P…. Lolz
By the way I luv my Z !!!!

42 Golfakias April 28, 2013 at 20:01

haha :P
me to i love me Z :D <3

43 Vas Varnava April 28, 2013 at 20:04

Im most excited about the walkman chip, i got those mdr1 – rbt headphones and the xperia s soud just doest really match up to the headphones. So this sounds really good.

44 Ambroos April 28, 2013 at 20:04

If you don’t count the Note because of identical internals you shouldn’t count the Acro S, Ion, SL, V and TX either.

45 IwantHonami April 28, 2013 at 20:06

Oh Yeah!

46 Justin Williams April 28, 2013 at 20:57

They talk big but can they actually deliver such amazing specs and what will it be like for google updates, since rooting on Xperia phones are next to impossible because they lock the damn boot loader

47 Herman April 28, 2013 at 21:06

Holy hell!

If this is true, I don’t need no PureView anymore!
Cyber-shot with Carl Zeiss optics can’t be any worse than existing cameras.

48 Xlash Andraid April 28, 2013 at 21:06

How much this one will cost? $1500 US dollars?

Yes, SONY is ma favourite brand, so superior to the rest… Including the price, that’s the only point when SONY should be inferior, for the sake of us, their fans.

49 Xlash Andraid April 28, 2013 at 21:16

iPhone 5S? what is it gonna feature? a 4.5 inches screen? ios maps 2? LOL

50 veneticat April 28, 2013 at 21:18

The xperia z was only supposed to rival the s3, so said Sony, but this is their real flagship for the year that will rival htc one and s4. And my good does this sound sexy, should wipe Samsung clear XD so happy… Definitely Sony picking it up.. Hopefully the updates will be better aswell, because they’re Sony phones unlike NXT series which are Sony Ericsson..

51 Fuad Jalil April 28, 2013 at 21:20

You haven’t owned an Xperia since X10 right? Or perhaps you’ve been getting them via a carrier (still unlockable). Sony actually has put up a page detailing the unlock procedure for its xperia lineup so please….

52 s<dgfh April 28, 2013 at 21:27

I really hope they make the Honami. Even if its gonna cost fortune… I’ve wanted to see a manufacturer really go all in and make a super phone

53 NikAek April 28, 2013 at 22:04

:O ,when you will ever notice the difference ??? ,only in your pocket ..well if its a habit to buy & try iam with you ,if not its a waste of money time

54 Yuri Barbosa April 28, 2013 at 22:20

Se ele vinher pro Brasil, nem compro o zq. Vou aguentar fica com o meu antigo xperia neo até lá.

55 Uchiha Dare Nial April 28, 2013 at 22:28

Dayum,I just fapped when I saw the Honami specs

56 Rayx April 28, 2013 at 22:34

well that escalated quickly.. bye bye xperia z

57 jag April 28, 2013 at 22:56

Going to sell my xperia Z if this Honami is true.. But i really love my Z.. Huhu

58 JG April 28, 2013 at 23:06

I wasn’t able to buy the XZ due to budget, but I’m definitely going to have to save for this “Honomi!” and I’m so excited about this!!!

59 xyqz April 29, 2013 at 00:11

honami? really? good bye my xperia z

60 zerocools April 29, 2013 at 00:15

Xperia Ion, carrier bootlocked by AT&T, took me less than a minute to root using Binary’s method. It’s not hard to root an Xperia device even if has a locked bootloader.

61 Ashad Mamood April 29, 2013 at 00:48

Bloody hell! They both sound great!

62 r34r5w April 29, 2013 at 00:57

agree. and that’s what i really hope is going to happen. they announced a device to rival the s3 and iphone 5 so i hope this time, they will offer a device that will rival the s4, htc one, and upcoming iphone.

i just hope the display would be much much much much much better not for my sake but for sony’s sake. sony can’t attract new customers who have been accustomed to amoleds and better looking IPS displays from rival companies.

63 erest April 29, 2013 at 01:10

aren’t you supposed to be glad with that? we’ve seen the many weaknesses of the xperia z. it simply cannot stand up to the current flagships from competing companies.

a successor is in order. besides, the xperia z was announced by sony’s marketing manager to be a competitor to the galaxy s3 and iphone 5. you should not wonder why they’ll be releasing new flagships for this year. these new devices will be the real 2013 flagships to match the s4 and htc one.

let’s just hope it will come with better displays and cameras that perform better than the s4. i was really so impressed with the s4’s camera that i was almost depressed for days. how can sony be beaten when it comes to camera tech when it manufactures topnotch cameras.

64 efwse April 29, 2013 at 01:17

i don’t really think there’s an issue with that. it should even be good for you since that means the earlier flagships will have lower prices. it’s just a matter of choice. you only worry about that when you buy smartphones for the sake of showing off the latest model. having several choices is good. lower prices for the earlier models is even better.

65 naathaanS April 29, 2013 at 01:22

“One Sony”…
Then what’s the point of Z? a pre-One Sony? Doesn’t matter, i ain’t even mad. I’ll just stick to my Z till Honami price drop or till a newer model comes out just before Honami goes discontinue

66 Arokhantos April 29, 2013 at 01:51

Maybe they should stop releasing broken handsets tablets and fix bugs first before releasing new broken products.
Just saying………
Don’t get angry at me i’m just saying the truth, and most of you known i’m right.

67 Arokhantos April 29, 2013 at 01:53

Hope they fix their software issues bugs problems inside sony before they release this, i really would love to see sony kick samsung’s ass.

68 AllanT April 29, 2013 at 01:55

Every one wants:…..

I want a good picture quality out of the camera and putting too many megapixels in a small sensor isn’t going to give you good pictures. It’s just people who don’t understand who keep talking about pixel numbers

69 pikapika April 29, 2013 at 02:06

when samsung wasn’t as big as it is now, it also produced several flagships (even more than what sony is offering) for multiple platforms. they even had the samsung wave line. you’re just nitpicking. there’s nothing wrong with offering more. you can criticize the xz display, camera, and battery but not the number of devices being released. that does not make sense. new models mean lower prices for older ones. what do you buy your smartphones for? to brag about having the latest model? that’s a stupid motivation for buying gadgets.

70 ererse April 29, 2013 at 02:09

appears to be a test device. they’re testing the waters. it appears the water resistant feature is well-received so they’re implementing it with the succeeding flagships.

71 Hamza Salau April 29, 2013 at 02:11

The z isn’t that expensive here I can get one for about $560 in the states compared to the price of the iPhone 5, Sgs4 HTC one and the rest its pretty cheap

72 Hamza Salau April 29, 2013 at 02:14

You realize that every LCD display has a thin film transistor right?
Plus oled’s are over naturally and experience burn in after a while

73 miguel bessa April 29, 2013 at 02:15

and with carl zeiss lens

74 AKS April 29, 2013 at 02:20

you think Iphone is cheap? that bloody expensinve , and dont wanna get lost using the maps out of this world.. SONY is premium no matter what specs u add to samsung it will still be a piece of plastic..

75 aks April 29, 2013 at 02:28

76 Thiago Guerreiro Bastos April 29, 2013 at 02:30

I’m a Xperia S user and I’m not going to buy Z as I said a lot in this blog. But I’m considering to buy Honami

77 Thiago Guerreiro Bastos April 29, 2013 at 02:37

78 Rizky Maulana April 29, 2013 at 02:46

79 kevin April 29, 2013 at 03:28

It hasn’t been announced as official and you already say u wanna buy it? That’s why it is a rumor so don’t get all ur hopes into it

80 sfordesign April 29, 2013 at 03:49

clearly somebody has never used sgs3 but claimed that its camera is awful.. i am actually shameful to show off my photos taken by my ion to my friend who has the sgs3 while we are taking basically the same pictures

81 Krishna April 29, 2013 at 05:12

With the next Flagship, they should have a dedicated Camera button as a Capacitive Key, with probably a short press as Auto Focus and a long press to take a shot. This would probably help them waterproofing the Handset, and give us all a great device which has got everything in it.

82 arena April 29, 2013 at 05:30

xperia z also sounded great when it was rumored. look what has become of it now.

83 APai April 29, 2013 at 05:42

I doubt if they’d go the 4.5inch route (even in jest). they might go for a 4.2-4.3 inch route. but apple has already eaten the humble apple pie – they are more human now – ipad mini, 4 inch screen, google maps. i only wish other companies learned from their mistakes! sony needs to pick a clue from sony fans about software updates.

84 derived April 29, 2013 at 05:54

Sony stop making so many new phones, Sony wat r u soon, Sony stahp!

85 Arokhantos April 29, 2013 at 06:27

Samsung will become very very very small soon just wait and see :)

86 Ryan April 29, 2013 at 08:02

Yeah sure, flashgrip. It’s flagship not flashgrip. I know, your next phone is Samesuck plastic crap. Don’t deny it.

87 Ryan April 29, 2013 at 08:13

Seriously? Do you what is “root”? Rooting Xperia phone next to imposible? You must be joking. Xperia devices are the easiest android devices to root. Educate yourself first, don’t talk and make yourself look stupid.

88 Raiden April 29, 2013 at 08:29

I love my White Xperia Z I LOVE IT !

But if all of those features are coming in a single package, a this “Honami”, and also if comes in white :) sorry I’m selling the Z.

I really need to get back those feelings like old times with the SE K and W series with top notch Walkman and cyber-shot features.

Are only rumors, but if this is true, is a perfect battery, perfect processor, perfect camera (xenon) perfect mp3 player (the internal amplifier) MINDBLOWING

89 Cristi13 April 29, 2013 at 08:38

Oh, yes they said that they will release a phone to compete with s3 and ip5, so they admited that they’re behind-_-‘.Anyway I’ m waitting for their superphone with all the best from sony(hopefuly it exists). I wonder when they will release a phone with good viewing angles, people here will be complaining about privacy?

90 osin17 April 29, 2013 at 08:45

I’m not sure it’s for June. I think it’s for next year.

91 Ashad Mamood April 29, 2013 at 10:03

Which 6 flagships were those???? Xperia S,Ion and Acro S & HD are different variants of the same phone. The T,TX and TL are the same phone for different markets! In that case Samsung would have had about 12 flagships last year!

92 Ashad Mamood April 29, 2013 at 10:06

Don’t worry Triluminos is coming and Sony’s own Oled

93 Ashad Mamood April 29, 2013 at 10:08

Z is a big seller and will be well supported! Stop panicking!

94 Ashad Mamood April 29, 2013 at 10:12

It’s a great phone! I love mine! Why???

95 arena April 29, 2013 at 11:08

it’s inferior compared to other flagships. i’m a sony fan but i have to admit the xperia z display is inferior to the s4 and htc one. even the oppo find 5 has a better display. likewise, the touted exmor rs camera is also inferior to the s4. i don’t want sony to be inferior to samsung when it comes to displays and cameras. sony is supposed to be the best in these departments.

you can check for sample photos online. there are a multitude of them. i made sure to check every possible sample available on the web to properly conclude that i can no longer defend the xperia z and express to sony that they need to come up with something new to beat the competition.

still a sony fan, though. my hopes for sony were lifted with the honami rumor.

96 roeshak April 29, 2013 at 11:20

If they want to release a flagship to rival the htc one and s4, they should release the phone around the same time i.e. H1.
There’s no point releasing the phone months later when everyone is looking forward to 2014. The 6.4 inch device is good for H2 but the other sounds too much for 2013.
Sounds more like a H1 2014 flagship.

97 Cheng April 29, 2013 at 11:44

I OMFG cant for for ONE Son’y HONAMI! If it can be prettier than Xperia Z, im totally sold, even if it costs more than Z ~~~ nice Sony nice! keep it up and COMBINE your stuff!

98 Markac April 29, 2013 at 11:53

At last a real Xenon flash again. It’s been missing since the SE Satio.

99 Rough April 29, 2013 at 12:40

OMG… My wallet… :c

100 surethom April 29, 2013 at 12:56

Honami cybershot phone YES finally, but 5″ screen NNNNNNOOOOOO this is too big & will drain battery quicker, Please 4.7″ ish screen with battery of Over 3000mAh as xenon flash uses way more power.

101 surethom April 29, 2013 at 13:00

I agree I wont more to the Z because the low light photos dont look good & the MASSIVE 5″ screen maked the phone MASSIVE, I so so want a xenon flash Android phone but only if the phone screen between 4.3″ – 4.7″ Please sony give us more user friendly Camera phone.

102 Loken April 29, 2013 at 13:27

no oled please i hope sony never goes oled.. unless they use flexible display!

103 surethom April 29, 2013 at 13:28

If sony insists on the Honami having a Massive 5″ screen, lets hope the bezel is very thin so the phones dimensions are smaller than the Massive Xperia Z.

104 Akram Ahmed April 29, 2013 at 14:26

they will .. i begin to trust in sony …. they do their best

105 vinay April 29, 2013 at 15:12

another extra row of icons ! what else !

106 Preetam Nath April 29, 2013 at 15:36

HONAMI will be bigger. And battery will be over 4000 mAh

107 RonRon3050 April 29, 2013 at 15:52

How much do u think will be the price bros?

108 Zulugula Mobutu Seseseko April 29, 2013 at 15:58

109 Saif April 29, 2013 at 16:29

They’ll definitely buy it! Those specs!!!

110 Habib Saleh April 29, 2013 at 16:32

It’s not a question of getting 4.2.2 ; but any earlier update!

1. Buggy Walkman – No doubt Walkman™ is one, if not the best music player I’ve seen, but buggy software puts me off sometimes. Take for example the playlist, the order of the tracks keep changing, and I’m also not able to play the track on another Xperia device. Oh, and clearaudio+ randomly turns off.
2. NFC – Sure it’s a great feature, but only works with two Xperia Z’s. I’m not able to transfer photos to my friends Sola(or any other device Sony or otherwise) using NFC.
3. Contacs – I update a contact; and call the person later. It displays the old name and contact picture when calling,
4. Lockscreen can still be bypassed!
And many other small annoyances like icons in a folder rearranging themselves :/

113 Vasan Ramesh April 29, 2013 at 17:02

Okay. Flagship. My bad.
But Samesuck crap?! Seriously?!

114 Thiago Guerreiro Bastos April 29, 2013 at 18:44

I said that I’m considering to, not that I’ll buy it.

115 Ann Hiro April 29, 2013 at 18:55

Two more flagships. Nice to see Sony’s learned its lesson.

116 Ann Hiro April 29, 2013 at 18:56

lol. Apple and humble don´t belong in the same sentence.

117 PVV April 29, 2013 at 19:59

Completely agree with you. So many people that just so obsessed with numbers and the need to have a device which has more GHz, more cores, more mpx, more ppi than the devices their friends have. These people dont understand that this is just a marketing trick and there is no difference with ppi large than 300, there is no use for big GHz in a phone other than additional battery drain and that the large number of mpx on a small phone camera sensor will actually make pictures worse.

118 Xlash Andraid April 29, 2013 at 21:34

Remember what happened with Xperia S, U and P, they were released in march 2012. Then, Xperia T, V and TX were released in september. Something similar may happen with this new phones.

119 Mumbira April 30, 2013 at 01:29

The Xperia S was also a “big seller”

120 Deads April 30, 2013 at 01:29

Indeed to many people focus on MP and the amount of mega pixels doesnt matter on these phones. There are many things that are more important for good picture quality.

121 Mumbira April 30, 2013 at 01:33

Yea, good strategy Sony, …

erest, I’l tell you something, in 15 years, I will make my own Galaxy S3 competitor,…

You see the Problem? The Z was even outdated on his release.

122 Gitarooman April 30, 2013 at 02:51

they should ditch the alphabet for this One sony line up and call it Xperia 1.

123 Adrian Alejandre April 30, 2013 at 03:52

I want AT&T compatibility!

124 naathaanS April 30, 2013 at 05:37

Please stop posting this picture, even imagining you in it is not funny anymore, if you’re on reddit, you’ve been banned the second time you posted this… Frank

125 Arokhantos April 30, 2013 at 05:44

Lemme guess your the only one who thumbed this down.
Sux to be you.

126 naathaanS April 30, 2013 at 05:45

I thumbed it down because of the picture… Frank

128 MG April 30, 2013 at 06:23

You know, it takes more than a day to develope a phone! ;-)

129 Vincentius Phang April 30, 2013 at 07:26

top it all with Google making it as template for the Nexus 5 (as LG Optimus G is template of Nexus 4) and VOILA !!!

130 Arokhantos April 30, 2013 at 08:14

Btw who’s frank ?

131 LIKE.NO.OTHER April 30, 2013 at 08:50

And hopefully that sony will improve the UI

132 Cod3rror April 30, 2013 at 09:35

“One Sony” is definitely the right idea. Don’t split features and technologies between multiple phones, release one superphone with all the features in it.

Splitting features among multiple handsets is what killed Nokia and combining them all in one is what made Apple and Samsung awesome.

133 naathaanS April 30, 2013 at 10:47

Are you sure you don’t know him… Frank?

134 Arokhantos April 30, 2013 at 11:10

135 naathaanS April 30, 2013 at 11:20

You are a bad liar aren’t you? ;)

136 John Andrew Santiago April 30, 2013 at 13:03

Right. It’s all about software optimization. About screen ppi, yes 300 is already good. 720p is good for 4″~4.8″ displays. 1080p is for 5″ and above. 1080p is a huge difference to 720p, but in small mobile displays, there’s almost no difference to quality, but there is a HUGE difference to gaming performance because 1080p is a sh*t ton of pixels to process by the GPU.

137 Babylonbwoy April 30, 2013 at 13:26

Glad they didn’t choose the octo-core stuff following Samsung non sense biggest dick competition!

138 Arokhantos April 30, 2013 at 14:22

Maybe you should go see doctor >_>

139 Dead Darren April 30, 2013 at 14:35

Hopefully they’re done with the “Crystal LED” they talked about last year and use it on this one… TFT is getting ancient… Although gotta admit, they were able to use TFT against modern times’ OLED — Bravia…

140 Dead Darren April 30, 2013 at 14:44

Maybe Sony should bring out the “Crystal LED” display they talked about last year on this phone… Don’t tell me it’s too advanced that Sony wants to play fair in catching up and use it in the right time… Hahaha! :D

141 naathaanS April 30, 2013 at 14:52

I know who you are, i know, i know…
btw what’s your /u/?

142 Jaem Muel April 30, 2013 at 16:43

I really hope they would consider the price as well. Samsung’s pricing for their S4 was a great move for a flagship phone.

143 rajarukz93 April 30, 2013 at 16:45

Hope so these rumours are true…..but still keeping a very high hope towards sony

144 rajarukz April 30, 2013 at 16:54

High hope frm me….

145 InspectorGadget80 April 30, 2013 at 19:21

DAMN. those specs ARE HUMUNGOUS. Think i’ll pass on the XPERIA Z and what for this MONSTROUS PHONE TOO COME OUT. damn SONY IS KICKING ass with specs it sounds better than the NOTE II or the GS IV.

146 Klm April 30, 2013 at 23:58

Sony, i love you
You make. I belive.

147 philippe May 1, 2013 at 00:52

I have read the original conversation of somebody with that tester. He claimed that Honami is so good thhat he somehow regret to buy the xperia z so early. and he also comment that compare to Honami, iphone 5 is simply a rubbish. he also said that as the camera was not on the phone yet, so he couldnt test the camera.

148 Alexandr Arutynov May 1, 2013 at 07:06

Sony you idiots. You all missed, but Nokia, has always paid special attention to the cameras, unlike you! (And it will always be a leader, and you’ll always catch up with her.

149 Z May 1, 2013 at 07:28

what is even the point of posting this picture over and over again oh my god its not even mildly entertaining anymore.

150 Fadly Hermawan May 2, 2013 at 10:03

I miss Walkman, Cyber-shot and Bravia-branded in Sony mobile phones. I hope it will be come soon.

151 Jaywalker May 2, 2013 at 14:25

They should make smaller screens too. We’re not all monkeys, hello! Big foot or something. Some people have normal hands. Could you, can you? And do something with that noisy and whitey camera or roll-back to the old k series. The pictures have no contrast at all.

152 tonkotsu May 3, 2013 at 00:02

might as well make it 100mp

153 logan May 3, 2013 at 06:40

i think they should recycle old handsets from the users to buy new ones

154 Ashua May 3, 2013 at 07:42

No it Won’t and plus how many nokia phones have actually been selling compared to sony phones this year and how many pureview handsets has actually sold, until you have facts don’t say its to late for Sony because it is not, for Nokia certainly yes at this rate if they don’t come to android soon and continue to stick with Windows phones, They will continue to plummet Into the abyss!

155 Ashua May 3, 2013 at 07:48

I am glad they are focusing on the camera and new software for the camera and a walkman amplifier chip and snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.3 GHZ compared to samsung’s octa core which is clocked at 1.9 GHZ even with 8 cores the S4 is slower than the Honami which will completely blow out of the water, especially considering its going to be waterproof and dust resistance as well thats icing on the cake! :)

156 Alexandr Arutynov May 3, 2013 at 12:10

For the person who want really good or the best camera, it is still what operating system . Android is not perfect, for example windows at least more interesting, and I do not think nokia must necessarily move to android. Lumia 920 sales is very good, so that the windows phone future certainly is. Personally, I have nokia 808 which works on simbian, but so what? Main thing that I have my best camera on smartphone and i dont see competitors . And the future Honami will not competitor for 808 Pureiew.

157 Ashua May 3, 2013 at 12:41

How exactly is windows phone better then Android? windows doesn’t have much apps on offer compared to iso and android, no HD screen quality, and on to of that even Micro$oft makes more money out of Android than even their own Windows phone, even out of google, comes to show windows is dead just a third wheel, but that is going to be gone by time ubuntu, Tizen and firefox phones come out later this year.

158 Alexandr Arutynov May 3, 2013 at 15:17

wp8 is more convenient for user. The interface is very user-friendly and intuitive and smooth works. Any smartphone on Windows Phone 8 is faster than a smart phone with similar features to Android 4. On WP8 no concept “virus” and “malicious application”. And never will be. Android with each update becomes very heavy OS Windows Phone only drawback is the lack of applications, but over time there will be more applications. So that wp is the future! I’ll even tell you that many of my friends want buy devices running on windows!

159 Ashua May 3, 2013 at 15:36

Windows phones, when it comes to updates a official overhaul, they abandon the devices, and replace them with new phones and only do maintenance updates on it, and windows only has 2 home screen, compared to Android which has 7 and you can even make more, and Android has quad core, while windows has only dual core which makes it very behind in terms of hardware on their flagship, which makes them In turn be competing against mid-range phones and again if Windows was really so successful, how come Micro$oft makes more money from Android then it does from windows phones, end of story its a two horse race not three, between Android and Apple.

160 Alexandr Arutynov May 3, 2013 at 17:34

And for what to you 7 home screens? What advantage of it and for whom it is necessary, it`s more similar to a mess. I wrote to you that Windows uses less energy, for normal work windows needs only 2 core
, only two, and your gluttonous android, even with 4 core works not so ideal as you want. Not the quantity of cores plays a role! Quality and energy saving of an operating system, and here Windows leader. I consider Windows is focused on serious people more, android more is suitable for gamers

161 Ashua May 4, 2013 at 08:22

Nope, because on Android you can do multi tasking and gaming, and can you please answer the question, if Windows phone is so great, how come Micro$oft makes more money from Android then it does selling its own windows phones.? and if you mean serious people what about android, iphones and blackberry been given the approval to be used in the pentagon where the president and other top political individuals have meetings.? Yet windows has never been used at the pentagon ever so there’s my answer to your question, now answer my one! :)

162 Alexandr Arutynov May 4, 2013 at 20:22

Answer: The policy of double standards! For example: Microsoft receives $ 5 from every smartphone production HTC. Earn money. Regarding the Pentagon. First, the Office for the Protection of Information Systems Department of Defense is considering using as the main devices of iPhone smart phones and tablets iPad. However, after the test, the Agency stated that the Apple remote control gadgets on the platform iOS, so employees at Apple, it is possible to track the movement of their devices with embedded chips GPS. That’s why the Pentagon chose android platform! Android, decided to military experts, is open source, which allows easy use of custom configuration. Because of this Pentagon employees responsible for information security, can implement their own security policies and remotely monitor changes to the settings.)) But I do not pentagon)) for example, more people are acquiring a smartphone platform vindous 8. The only thing that is missing now on WP8, applications and cool games, but it will eventually. And the rest, the platform is very nice and pleasant, so my friend, in this operating system has a future! But I am at the beginning, not talking about the operating system, I’m talking about cameraphones . And Sony has no chance to overtake nokia Pureview, because Sony cant make revolution, but Nokia can, and she has proved it !

163 Procurement ReadyMix May 5, 2013 at 08:51

Best thing in SONY is you are getting what you are paying for.
best electronic company in the world.

164 Ashua May 5, 2013 at 10:18

Actually Sony does have a chance, reason why is because they have a camera department, and are best known and one of the most recommended brands by photographers and people in the film industry compared to Nokia which has no chance its only camera phones, with the combination of its camera department and technologies into their phones, nokia will be crushed and silenced by the honami and way better then the pureview which hasn’t sold much,so really sony has already beaten nokia in everything! :)

165 Alexandr Arutynov May 5, 2013 at 11:05

What? )) Sony has already beaten nokia in everything! :) In everything..? Oh Very funny, especially after this: nokia will be crushed and silenced by the honami ) Almost fell off my chair for laughing so hard!))))

166 Ashua May 5, 2013 at 22:24

Yup, Sony has the xperia Z has done really well, sold a lot more then nokia, in the worlds top 10 smartphone vendors and sales and yet nokia is nowhere in site of been in the top 10, and on top of that, nokia is doomed, Sony is begin to rise, with many more things to come, where as for nokia it is to late, your comments alone has made me cry tears of laughter and amusement, thanks for the entertainment! :) and how about you get off here and go to a nokia blog rather then be on xperia blog or any sony blog! :)

167 Alexandr Arutynov May 6, 2013 at 08:01

You’re funny))) Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately, this is not your personal blog. Dont worry about nokia, it will be number one again, like in the good old days. Your Sony has never been a leader)) But why you are so latched on Sony xperia Z? Lumia 920 is the leader of smart phones based on Windows 8 On android phones Xperia Z better HTC One and Galaxy?

168 Ashua May 6, 2013 at 20:25

Nokia 920 is nothing when its compared to android and Sony has been a leader in many fields such as tvs, video games, music, cameras and films, so really sony is coming back with a bang as for nokia, they are to late into the world of smartphones and don’t really have anything interesting to offer, sony many things, cameras, music, films, games and many more so really sony is rising now especially once this phone and many more future phones come out, as for nokia, game over unless they come to android before its to late! :) and again thank you for the entertainment, keep up the good work! :)

169 Stephen Raharja May 7, 2013 at 07:11

I bought Xperia Z right after it was released…. And now this??

Come one Sony, how many awesome phones must you release within this short time?
Now I can’t stop thinking about this awesome phone

170 Alexandr Arutynov May 7, 2013 at 17:03

A beautiful speech!)) Agree, Sony is a great company, especially 30 years ago. But Sony is not dominant smartphone company! There are other leaders!) And I really hope that Sony finally release, the best smartphones with the best cameras..) Nice talking to you! Good luck=)

171 Ashua May 7, 2013 at 17:23

Thank you :)!

172 pradeep p May 10, 2013 at 16:52

I like this 2 modal . You have to add something new floating..,, gesture…., finger lock… Ir removed…, water and dust profs… Best battery. …
thank you

173 pp May 10, 2013 at 16:58

Fu….. Cuk Samsang lot’s of s4 in service Center k that’s not working properly

174 andrew May 11, 2013 at 20:53

I hope take a more common sense approach to the use of glass on the back of my preferred model, the Togari. Very large smartphones need traction in the hand. Period.
The specs of this device are mindblowing. For me suddenly my desktop is obsolete and thoughts of buying Sony’s Xperia Z tablet are gone.
Samsung will be hard pressed to better both the sound & the camera tech in the Togari, but you never know.

175 SadDonkey May 13, 2013 at 10:56

Mann… How are they gonna top honami’s feature with 2014 1H Flagship? my plan dosn’t end till then.. =(

176 Hakan Mutlu May 14, 2013 at 17:55

COMPLETELY agree with you. I was hoping that I’ll be happy with my Z at least for a year and now this Honami came up. :(

177 Italino May 15, 2013 at 07:22

The most kick-ass specifications so far!!!!!!!!!!
But i hope this superphone “Xperia Honami” will come with a very thin bezel. (similar to Xperia ZL)

178 Firman Rasyid May 18, 2013 at 02:19

Do you know when this phone launched?

Teknologi for future

179 Shan June 6, 2013 at 18:05

hopefully android 4.3

180 alex July 8, 2013 at 18:46

All sony devices have poor sound quality. No midrange and subwoofers. Look, if u play mp3 files on samsung devices it even vibrates and very excellent sound quality. If u ask me about sony devices? No comment. I would recommend Sony to sell tomato in the market. Surely they prosper.
