Sony SBH50_8Sony announced a new headset a few days back called the Stereo Bluetooth Headset SBH50. As you can probably guess by the model number, the SBH50 is a step above the recently launched SBH20. Like the SBH20 it has NFC capability to easily pair with your Xperia smartphone, but it also includes a 128 x 36 pixel OLED display allowing you to read messages and keep track of calls.

The headset features Bluetooth 3.0, a built-in FM radio and a 115 mAh battery capable of eight hours talk time. The SBH50 will come in both black and white colours when it launches in June, pricing remains a mystery for now.

It looks like Smart Wireless Pro without the MP3-player. They have removed the memory card slot and added NFC instead:

Why do Sony always have to use split headphones? I mean left one shorter and right one longer… I HATE THIS! They should at least give us a choice…

I’m happy! (in that Spongebob voice)

  • Lunkz

I hope it has a better Sound quality than my old Sony Ericsson MW600.

  • skrug

It’s good because you can hang it around your neck when not in use and also it’s easy to tell which one is for left/right ear.

You can use any buds you want on this guy, yo. Problem solved except for the stratospheric comparative price. A similar model has already been offered and it’s expensive. My problem is why would I want the Sony Watch if I had this? I know the watch is lack luster, but I want it.

  • Jurippe

The long wire goes behind your neck, the short one goes straight up from your device.

I prefer it asymmetrical because I hate having earbuds visible to other people.

What phone it is on these pictures??

All BT headset are out of stock for weeks here in france, can’t buy any!

The SBH20 is nice, but the clip is so tight I can barely slip it on to my tshirt or jacket. This is much more like the Smart Wireless Headset Pro, but with NFC. Perfection from Sony once again.

Actually, it’s the new Xperia ZR.

In the Uk site appeared the price.

    £59 ~ €69 ~ $89.5

  • hocestquisumus

Nice. But I prefer the MW1′s SD slot. Works as an MP3 player without a smartphone, too. I mean, how often do you pair those devices? Once every year?

  • BGSaint

would anyone know where from I can order this online? Thanks

  • Gabor

This device hasn’t been in release state yet, but you can Pre-order on this site:
