Sony Honami pops up at GFXBench; confirms C690X model number

by XB on 30th July 2013

in Rumours, Xperia Z1

Sony C6903 HonamiThe Sony ‘Honami’ has made an appearance on benchmark site, GFXBench. It used to be quite common to see upcoming Sony Xperia devices pop up on numerous benchmark sites prior to release, but Sony has done a good job of limiting this in 2013. The C6903 model number has appeared on the site and is believed to be the European LTE version of ‘Honami’.

A number of specs have been confirmed by the listing including a FHD display, Snapdragon 800 chipset (MSM8974) with Adreno 330 graphics. It also shows the handset running on Android 4.2.2 with the latest firmware build at version number 14.1.G.1.406. The maximum processor clock captured by the benchmark is 2GHz, but is likely to be the same as the Xperia Z Ultra (2.2GHZ) on release.

    First Comment! LoL

  • xperiazuser

    Haha first

  • hans

Impressive.. But.. nah, the Sony launcher needs to be reprogrammed to remove the lags. Or Sony needs to have that eMMC storage that Nexus use (if not yet), so TRIM can be ran to improve the I/O heavy situation..

  • SonyFan

did u try the launcher from Honami ? I’m using it right now and since then, i’ve never seen a lag!!

  • lovebmw

    Second idiot (Xperiazuser)

  • lovebmw

Third idiot (arifkpi) you did not make the first idiot! sad

  • Zamry Zulkefli

Im using xperia honami launcher on my xperia ion.. So smooth.. No lag

  • Phat-t

Xperia launcher is the nicest stock launcher! No lag either. Go use your ugly stock android where everything is just black and blue…

  • nameofthewind

give him the trophy already! :))

  • Abdullah Robben

i like sony launcher but it must be smoother
it’s better than ugly touchwize and dark htc sence

  • Makiz

I use it on Xperia Z .. no lags for me either!

  • reght

I use it on my Nokia 3310, its flawless

  • DiUS

MIUI V5 is much smoother and better

  • Zamry Zulkefli

    Wow!! :-P

Hey Hey don’t be so mad at me, I’m just suggesting to Sony to preload all the widgets because all the lags experienced in scrolling left and right caused by the widgets. One of my favorite Launcher is and still is, the Sony one, but i just wonder when alternative method will be applied when it comes to widget loading (but if based on SonyFan experience, i might try that on my Razr maxx).

Plus with the recent Samsung cheat on S4, Benchmarking is not that essential anymore. So there was my writing here.. Fix the lag on Home Launcher and Sony will have a winner!

PS: Even though i’m Razr user, but i am Sony fan, just wishing more refinement to Sony’s effort before my next switch to Sony again (maybe Honami with that big battery to substitute my Razr Maxx later)

I’m getting the Honami, I’ll tell you that!

I was intrigued by the Lumia 1020 at first, but since it doesn’t run Android it just isn’t much of a smartphone to me.

  • Gitarooman

with android 4.3 + OpenGL ES3, the UI should be even smoother than it is now.

  • Tangent Lin

Even Samsung S4 benchmark lose honami. Just hope the design doesn’t disappointed us.

  • ProWeirdo

How can this be that launchers made by app developers are smoother than Sony’s launcher??

  • Anton Avdyushkin

what the the f#cking way OpenGL have to improve smoothness of UI?! It is just specification of texture, it compressing, etc…

  • Debz

2GB ram and Android 4.2.2? When most companies start releasing phones with 3GB ram and 4.3? That’s pretty disappointing. I’m sorry but in a matter of months Honami’s specs will be outdated and with it’s bulky design it won’t stand a chance against the competition.

  • gitaroo

sony added native gpu rendering for z and zl ui later, any improvement to 3d performance would help.

  • Mahesh

Go get ur self a Ubuntu Edge, dont cry here

  • Babylonbwoy

About Benchmarks, have you see that, Sammy caught cheating again !

  • You mean the android-iPhone? No, thanks
but of course that’s what you like

  • DStyle

What’s the screen size? Won’t go anything smaller than 5″

  • Billy de Fretes

every smartphone specs 1000% OUTDATED every 6 months or less… wait, how about S4 … the original S4 specs already outdated less than 6 month when samy release snapdragon 800 version.. just like in computer, there will be new hardware with better specs almost every couple of month so your argument is invalid

  • Rizky Maulana

    that’s not a PHONE anymore dude, that is “Micro PC”. #plak :v :v :v

  • Amimanot

Its the fact that sony’s launcher only renders the active page only ( the page you’re viewing at that time), if you switch pages the launcher refreshes all Widgets available on that page, thus the lag

  • Billy de Fretes

this might be out of topic but for all people who complain when xperia S will get update please read this

    it’s not sony problem… it’s qualcom

  • Ethan McLads

for those complaining about being “outdated sooner and other disappointments” — I believe this is not the final specs of honami? Correct me if I’m wrong. Things will/might change sooner or later. The software (android), I also believe the honami can be upgraded to a higher android version and Sony is doing well on releasing upgrades lately. The hardware — 2.2Ghz is usable enough. A single core 1Ghz is also adequate for everyday computing. I don’t know how people can complain about so much about the specs. It is not always the cpu cores that tick, or how great the screen is (maybe for some). There are a lot of things to consider with honami. The biggest for me, the higher capacity battery. Remember, it is always the modern things that become old-fashioned.

  • ProWeirdo

He’s not talking about the design, he’s talking about the optimization, dumb ass fanboy -_-” Sony’s launcher laggs like shit on my Xperia S while Nexus’s doesn’t.

  • ProWeirdo

Like every other luncher is not lagging?

  • ProWeirdo

I think dual-core is enough to handle few widgets on several pages at the time. The animations aren’t so smooth and the toutch reaction is pretty late…

  • ProWeirdo

They make the phone = their problem too.

  • Babylonbwoy

Yeah, I remember entropy512 saying same about scorpio a while back at xda when asked why update are so long to come. He said all scorpio are in the same boat not only sony’s…

  • Babylonbwoy

fstrim added by google on 4.3

The fstrim subsystem implements the dotrim command, which goes
through all the writable filesystems on the device, and invokes
the FITRIM ioctl() on them. This marks all the unused blocks on
the underlying flash device as unused, so the device performs better.

  • Phat-t

Clearly I said no lag either if you can read. And no shit the nexus doesn’t lag, its pure android

  • ProWeirdo

Yup. Editing option in disqus is great :)

  • Anton Avdyushkin

…would help to improve gaming performance. not UI. please google open gl es 3.0 and read about it before typing such comments
