Sony SBH80 Stereo Bluetooth Headset_2Sony is expected to launch the SBH80 Stereo Bluetooth Headset as we reported yesterday. At the time, the biggest clue we had on what to expect was that it was an “Around The Neck NFC Stereo Headset”. Well now we have what is believed to be the first picture of the SBH80.

The description says that the SBH80 is a “neck style wireless headset” that vibrates gently when a call comes in. It also has NFC to allow for one-touch connection. We can’t verify for sure whether the image or description is real, but it looks authentic enough. The design is certainly unusual, with what appears to be one button pod hanging off each ear bud. We can’t wait to hear some official details on Sony’s newest headset.

  • josesl16

Yes please, hiding it entirely just by unplugging from the ears and inserting it inside the shirt will be pretty awesome.

  • haha

    but we have m505 now

  • Colby Leong

Seems like a cool idea, especially if you’re rocking the Xperia Z Ultra, or any large phone. Pair together with the SW2, and you never have to worry about pulling out a huge phone. No idea the battery drain on the phone if paired with two things.

  • Guest

Tell that to Sony, the SBH20, 50 and 52 are uneven. That’s what azzido was referring to. I have the SBH20, it is uneven and I do not like that about it.

  • Micro

I have in my z1 about 3% of total battery drain from BT when I use both BT headset and BT keyboard, so I believe it won’t matter that much.

  • skrug

you’re suppose to have it go around the back of your neck, so when you aren’t using them you can just drop them down and they will hang around your neck. I like that design

  • Jmaxim

Not a fan of wearing it behind my neck but I’m glad you like it. Otherwise I think they are excellent.

  • skrug

You can always use a different set of ear buds (if you can find one that are short enough.)

Also, I guess you wont like these ones either, judging from the picture you would have to have that bar thing sitting on your neck.

  • 3rdflyleaf

Love this kind of headset. Would love to see one without that leather looking thing on the back. Like this :

  • xPnoyStar

The back of the headset is for the neck and it vibrates when someone is calling :)
The Plantronics Backbeat Go Bluetooth headset is great, but has a poor battery life.

I also used Novero Rockaway Bluetooth headset it is great but it has too big ear plugs -.-

Now im using Sony MH1 headset :)

  • ????????????

i use backbeat go now with z ultra and before – with xperia z. it’s quite stunning but the main problem of such unique headset that the wire which goes to the rear part of a neck always move to some side of the neck – so the one’ s side wire is always shorter than another. it’s annoying. same issue with any headset like plantronics backbeat – like JayBird BlueBuds X for example. i’m pretty sure the upcoming sbh80 probably will not get this issue because of such massive part, which of course will have a quite good battery.
    anyway, that’s an innovation

  • jag

The best things in life are for FREE!!! Perfect companion for my Ultra

  • Max

You do know that ages ago, Sony Ericsson had one of these. I’ve been using it for ages, well, until recently, when the battery in the thing died. It was WAY before Plantronics and all the other manufacturers came along and TRY to copy the design.

It was the Sony Ericsson HBH-IS800.

  • Max

Finally a successor to the very minimalistic HBH-IS800!

  • Colby Leong

It’s good to see that the battery has been given more attention. I remember the Z could barely last a day of use. Add in a Bluetooth connection and that thing is dead within the first half of your day.

  • Micro

TBH after the 534 update (got it 2 days ago) I noticed almost double battery life.. especially on standby, but overall battery life has been significantly improved. At least with my usage I noticed that very clearly.

  • Prohim

the 50 and 52 are connected to a device, the 80 just hangs on the back of your neck (as i see it in the picture) and that would be really weird if it was not symmetrical
