Xperia Z1 T-Mobile USAThe Sony Xperia Z1 is already available in the United States, albeit only the HSPA+ model (C6902) and only unlocked. We have reported on rumours that the Xperia Z1 will be picked up by T-Mobile in the US at some point and this latest leak reinforces that.

The Xperia Z1 for T-Mobile USA has been spotted at the Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group), with model number C6916. The last two digits ‘16’ in the model number denotes T-Mobile, corresponding with the T-Mobile Xperia Z (C6616). A release date remains a mystery for now, but it is looking increasingly likely that T-Mobile will announce the Xperia Z1 in the not too distant future.

    The T-Mobile Z is C6606, not C6616

06 is for the general NA version. the 16 is usually for customized model. But the weird part is that normally, Canadian carriers ought to have those customized models. I guess it might just depend on the releasing date, who get it first will has the 06, the latter one has the 16.

I think SONY is kinda late to the party. I’ve opted for the nexus 5, even though ive been waiting for the Z1 since I first heard rumors. such a shame. Guess I’ll wait for the Z2 hoping that SONY won’t botch the US release Again…..

He said that the US market is not on the list of priorities yet. Then after 3 years, he comes and say “we didn’t take the US market seriously” which is the very same thing they said couple years ago regarding apple.
I don’t say it because I live here, but many people in the world still look up to the US market to decide what to buy.
Got the Z1 European model but lack of LTE now is bugging. Not sure why Sony with all the power still has many issue or maybe they are just a successful insurance company?

    I’m looking right at my T-Mobile Z, and it says C6606… ;)

Isn’t the three versions, C6903, C6906 and the C6943 all are LTE compatible with T-Mobile 4G LTE? They all seem to have compatible LTE bands, not just HSPA+ bands that are required on T-Mobile USA bands.

  • Xyor

This one is customized for T-Mobile… Like TL for at&t in last year.

That’s why US need lots of investment according to what CEO said recentely, developping a version for each carrier is time and money consuming, here in europe all carrier sell the same version, they just add their bloatware and lock the BL and that’s it.

I heard the model 6906 is compatible with AT&T

Just held it in my hands today :)

A colleague of mine had it with him, he got it from t-mo for beta testing. It was wrapped by a plastic cover and a black label on the Sony (or T-Mobile?) logo, but the power button and open headphones plug definitely gave it away, especially the location in the middle of the top side, like on the leaked render. Not a fake render after all.
