Sony Z Ultra GPe_Android 4.4.2_2The Sony Xperia Z Ultra (C68XX) started to receive the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update yesterday, however lucky Sony Z Ultra Google Play Edition (C6806) owners are now receiving Android 4.4.2 KitKat over the air (OTA) in the form of build version KOT49H.S2.2052. The update fixes a number of issues that was plaguing the handset including the app uninstall issue and security settings bug. It also sorts the problems with Google Now voice commands as well as the clear data bug. Developers are doing their best to try to port this update to current Xperia Z Ultra handsets, we’ll keep you posted if anything comes from it.

  • Micro

This is kinda funny, you know:
The update fixes a number of issues that was plaguing the handset
what a shame, “flagship” android version made by mighty google, pure google.. came broken out of the box, and nobody can blame Sony this time..
LOL, I’d rather wait for Sony to release their own 4.4, I don’t care if they delay it to fix such a bugs on their own

  • Aniket

Lol, it was actually Sony responsible to develop the software on this phone and test it. Google’s only responsibility was to release the final build to the public in the form of OTA.

  • Berg

Incorrect, Google test the softwares as well, and have the final say if the quality is up to snuff.

  • Marcy

I am a Z1 owner Of an unbranded UK and still on 4.2.2 so yeah tell me again how i am waiting for 4.4?

  • Sol Shiuan

and my ZR still in 4.1 >:(

  • ICum
  • Aniket

No. These builds are not compiled from Google’s AOSP code but Sony’s. They don’t have any responsibility in that matter. When HTC sent the final build to Google for the KitKat update, google did no testing and released within a few short hours. And these bugs are not present in AOSP. So, even if Google did test it, it was Sony’s mistake for missing out on the bugs when compiling the final build. These bugs are not present on any Nexus devices nor any GPe devices.
