Xperia T2 Ultra_4Sony has announced the Xperia T2 Ultra (D5303, D5306, XM50h, XM50t) and Xperia T2 Ultra dual (D5322) smartphones with 6-inch 720p IPS display, 13MP camera and 1.4 GHz Qualcomm MSM8928 Quad Core chipset with Adreno 305 graphics. Judging by the specifications, the phone is expected to be a mid-ranger despite the large display.

This can be seen by the paltry 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage (4.8GB usable), although you do get a microSD memory card slot. Camera duties are taken care of by a 13MP Exmor RS sensor and Sony’s smart social camera apps will be included. The front-facing camera has a 1.1MP sensor.

Sony has confirmed that the Xperia T2 Ultra will get a number of camera apps at launch including Portrait Retouch (virtual mirror), Collage (drop images into creative photo collages), Background defocus (bokeh), Timeshift burst and Sweep Panorama.

The Xperia T2 Ultra has a large 3000mAh sealed battery , which Sony says is good enough for 14 hours of GSM talk time. Other features include LTE, Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n) Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, GPS, GLONASS and ANT+. The Xperia T2 Ultra has dimensions of 165.2 x 83.8 x 7.65mm and will weigh 172 grams.

The Xperia T2 Ultra dual will be the same phone, but will include dual SIM capability. Both SIM cards can be set independently with custom ring tones and one-touch switching between SIMs before making calls or sending texts. Also, you can keep both SIMs active, never missing a call, even while talking on one of them.

The Xperia T2 Ultra will come in three colours (black, white and purple) and launch with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Sony says the phone is designed specifically for customers in China, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia Pacific rim. The phone is set to launch during Q1 2014 in most global markets including the UK and Europe.

  • Netto Dashius Hexareus

LOL.. How the hell there’s no even leaks about this…

  • laci_csk

Good morning Xperia blog, you are the last whit this news

  • Abdullah Robben

    Sony = Queen of designs

  • Abhimanyu

Holy Shit! Look at those designs.. way better than what Samsung offers! Even the entry level Xperia E1 looks better than the flagship Galaxy S IV.

  • penubag

    Look ma, no bezels!

  • Rob

T2 Ultra seems awesome but honestly E1 doesn’t look good but the loudspeaker must be wonderful.

  • Umar Khan

cant you give the same white (white from the front) too in XZ/XZ1 etc

  • xperiaDROID

Gorgeous! This thing is a beauty! Sony sure knows how to design their phones. Good job, Sony!

  • Nik

Very nice ,but 1gb ram only ?

  • xperiafan

1gig RAM ?!?! are you serious sony ???

  • wim den boer

It’s placed on the market as a affordable 6“ phone

  • lander

Yeah man. But have to admit. These bloggers have lives too..

  • bobeobi gzigzigzeo

Very strange device in term of specs

  • Rammstone

    Where is my Z2 Ultra!

  • saif

    Mid ranger

  • Mix

    not IP 55/IP 58 ?

  • shayan gozarabadi

1/5 gb ram would be great.
1 gb is a little bit low nowadays even for a mid ranger.

  • boosook

Want more? The Z Ultra is already waiting for you.

  • jag

Don’t ask for it yet!! I’m still having fun with my Z ultra!!

  • Rammstone

Lucky you. I really want one but lack of flash and only 16gb storage just isn’t good enough. I think Z2 Ultra would be perfect :)

  • boosook

Not so strange… the market is full of 6″ cheap devices from unknown chinese makers, while the renowned brands have pretty expensive offering, see the note 3, one max, Z ultra.
So Sony is trying to lure users who want a phablet but do not want to spend too much.
Asus just released its 6″ cheap phablet with similar specs.
China and India are big countries and these phones are perfect. And also for many Europeans…

  • bobeobi gzigzigzeo

I’m worring about 1GB RAM, but on other hand T2 Dual perfect device for my GF, need to upgrade her old Sola

  • Tjaldid

I was hoping for something a little smaller than the Z Ultra in between it and the Z1 in size but not like this, oh well at least they added flash

  • laci_csk

    King of designs

  • Kurt Kobaine

    Sony anti-leak policy, DUH

  • New wallpaper!

  • laci_csk

wery good phone for midrange. Less bezel more screen

  • dead_lion

nice,,, still no update for SP,T,V and TX but they release new phone? good bye sony time to change!

  • xperiaDROID

    Okay, bye!

  • rexperia

Bye and good luck for the new….

  • nvier

Looks like Sony’s ditching TFT displays finally. I like the how Sony’s designs keep getting sexier even though they’re just minor changes.

  • impatientfool

Bye, I hope your impatience will cause you to regret whatever phone you get next.

  • rexperia

OMG…SONY, this is the georgeous phone, i’ll buy it asap when it’s released!

  • Atlas

    Quing of designs.

  • sisore

I admit that this phone’s overall design is sexy, but when I see the corner-side design, it’s kind of deja vu.
Time to think something new, Sony?

  • laci_csk

  • india man

    it’s “V”… not “W”, “V”… VERY not WERY!!!

  • Xperia+me

This is perfect….beautiful!!! Sony’s phones are more than just phones, they are works of art!! Noone can beat Sony and its perfect smartphones!!!!!! I love you Sony. Make.believe <3

  • adiq

    Grow up

  • Bezelicious

  • iKushtyy

I’m sorry, but I don’t know why you would have a huge screen with mid-range internals.. But if Sony have found a market for this niche, then I wish them luck. :)

  • Anthony Wardhana

My thought exactly, DAT BEZEL has shrink….

  • bobeobi gzigzigzeo

    First view from SonyXperiaRussia

  • Alvin

    Bye” , one less whining

  • Vignesh Raja

    Pixel Density(PPI)?

  • Jerry Berglund

Yes, seems like XPeria BLog missed the release of the cheaper Xperia E1 too

  • surethom

Can we please have a choice again & have a flagship spec phone with a 4.5″ to 4.8″ screen size with thin bezels, the ideal size for one handed use.

  • vigneshprince

Yeah E1 design is awesome just like XZ! wow

  • blitz_arc

I own sp, i dont care. Bye non loyal supporter.

  • ryq24

The price will determine how successfull this phone will be. And I am hoping it will be cheaper than samsung mega.

  • Sal3m

So you prefer thin bezel rather than ability to hold, pass around, and
share your phone without inadvertantly pushing the stupid search button
in the bottom right corner that constantly mocks you and starts searches
    you never even wanted to?

  • 3rdflyleaf

8 gb internal for low end and 8 gb internal for mid range. -_- seriously, sony?
4 gb user internal is so 2011. Stop making unbalanced specs phone!

  • wick

Awesome midranger phone from sony!!!! This will very well compete from those Samsung Galaxy Megas and Nokia Lumia 1320!! Awesome specs hoeever i wish they have provided with at least of 1.5GB of RAM but as kitkat 4.4 and future versions of android will be optimised for 512MB of Ram i don’t think there will be any problem in the performance the beautiful elegant design great battery and awesome 13MP Camera will lure all the customers in! Go Sony Go!
In INDIA this is going to sell like hot cupcakes!!!!

  • wick

btw it was really a surprise a sony phone realising without a leak! damn
    sony is sirius! lol

  • pokr612

I believe the T2 ultra is a REAL start of SONY 2014 lineup, since the wallpaper is a new design. even the E1 series still use the 2013 wallpaper. but the T2 is using a different color as wallpaper.

  • surethom

Thin bezels left & right of the screen not the top & bottom.

  • Battal Aljadei

    Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONY

  • AA :P

    “hot cupcakes”
lol. sorry about the laugh, it’s supposed to be “sell like hot CAKES”

cup cake might pass too :)

  • Hamed

… and with 20.7 camera and thin bezels, a flash, stereo speakers (one on top), 4k recording with 60 fps, more ppi and …. (help me, say what you want from sony)
6.44 is great. just don’t touch that part.

  • Mirrorpurple

    dayum… but i rather get the Z Ultra tho…
i know its a mid-ranger but still, it doesnt attracts me

  • Samsung

    Mmmm…..yes daddy cum spank me….
I’ve been a very, very, very bad girl…..I’ll happily bend over for you….give me your best shot………

  • hamody.ap

is the back side made from glass or plastic?

  • djsilentg

the royal family of design and imagination; giving you that wow factor

  • Sumo

So is this an upgrade of the Xperia T? or a new model?

  • Xperia+me

The ui looks so different in some of the pics! 4.4 ui maybe?

  • Jesús López Sotelo

With that name, it makes me think it will be a successor of the Xperia T, the T2.

  • Battal Aljadei

  • JR 205 6 doors

how about LG smartphone? no updates even Optimus G is 2012 LG’s flagship

  • engston

Love it so much, and look! it’s all white on front and back now!

  • Andreas Zaper

Great design – but 6-ich display???? Why? The perfect size for a smartphone display is between 4,3 and 4,7 inch. And maybe Sony should also work on a better looking surface for Android. It´s really annoying to see those great hardware (hopefully Sony also uses better materials in the future) with Android. This OS still looks very blindfold.

  • doraemonboi

There are people who like bigger screen. If Sony follow your style and make their phone all between 4.3″ to 4.7″, those big phone lovers will not consider Sony anymore. Anyway, Sony is making the compact version for people who like smaller phones.

  • Popster

Is it possible to have xperia T2?

  • P9

Sony Xperia, please kindly put the XPERIA under the screen like XT, we do love see it than to see nth under the screen. :)

  • P9

    be moved

  • Jiyeon90

720p in a 6 inch device is a huge fail.
I saw the galaxy mega and it’s screen was totally horrible compared to the other flagships

  • P9

like sammy design? hate it. It’s a touch screen.

  • P9

    why not XT1? we have EZ1, XE1…

  • Guest

    Jack of designs ;)

  • Guest

Where else do you get your info from then? I only know of Xperia Blog and Sony Rumours.
I do love Xperia Blog’s design though, so simple yet so sophisticated, its so easy to navigate and read.

  • Guest

    Same here.

  • Guest

I hope this isn’t the SP’s successor or I will laugh. Not that it isn’t a good phone but maybe I am spoilt by the LED notification bar. 6″ is huge though, I do like my bezels but that’s kind of like woah. Only 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage, same as last years SP…

  • sisore

I never said that I like Samsung’s design, not even once, I just realized that I felt deja vu seeing that corner.
So I think Sony, as one of this industry’s finest in design field, should do something about it like making new design.

    Cheers :)

  • Me

That’s why they XperiaT is abandoned by these asshole? They want XT owner to upgrade to their new shit?
Fuck you Kaz and update XT instead of playing on us

  • Me

    and :

  • xperia4ever

it’s a mid-ranger but has the triluminous display, 13MP, quad-core, and these new awesome camera apps! if this is a mid-ranger then what do i call my xperia Z? T_T

  • Prateek Bhanushali

Is this phone a waterproof ??? I asked becoz I see flap closings ???

  • juliadi

well, actually you can’t compare mega and t2 ultra to a flagship device. They are midrange, dont compare with flagship, different price and segment.

  • juliadi

nope,4.3 as said in sony website.

  • Xperia+me

I know dummy, but the 4.3 ui doesn’t look like that. Maybe they’re showing us the 4.4 ui early.

  • Quark Gluon

    Ace of design!

  • Quark Gluon

Yeah! And the screen looks damn great too, probably IPS!

  • Quark Gluon

Maybe, but memory and SIM card slots can’t be left open anyway, right?

  • Quark Gluon

What are you talking about? They announced Z1 Compact like a week ago!

  • Quark Gluon

    It’s just 4.3 with a new UI. That’s all.

  • Goddamn, these edges are beast!

  • Mac

what! A white front plate? Why doesn’t the z1 compact come in that opinion. And yep, purple..
    Z1 compact should be purple.

  • Diogo Simões

I want that wallpaper hahaa :p

  • Purnama

    last year flagship?

  • Xperia+me

Sigh, in the case you haven’t realised I’m talking about this pic×433.jpg

And no, that’s not the actual ui of the phone, judging from the video. Plus it looks a lot like the kitkat ui. And yes I know the actual phone is not running kitkat. Gosh.

  • Quark Gluon

Oh, you’re right! Sorry, I didn’t notice. I was just amazed by the screen.

  • Gitarooman

only 1 gig ram so, they should have ship with android 4.4

  • Gary Ohanian

Not sure what you are talking about. If you’re referring to IPS displays, then it’s still TFT. Read this article and educate yourself.

  • Battal Aljadei

Just wait for Xperia Sirius in the next month, you’ll be amazed ;)

  • Battal Aljadei

    Take it :[

  • jag

yup, agree with the storage. maybe if they make it 32gb it would be awesome. but for the flash, i really dont use it since my sony eriscsson phones so it is no big deal for me.

i hope Z2 would have extra software like the note series. it will become really handy.

  • jag

it is the successor of Xperia T as mentioned from different tech sites

  • jag

i think it has new function like what i saw from the hands-on in youtube. if you double tap the home button. the notification together with the quick toggles will go at the bottom part of the screen for quick access since this is a huge phone. i hope they implement it to Z ultra too

  • jag

    any leaks from xda? hehe

  • jag

add more power there, maybe octacore and then 4gb of ram to handle all those things and apps. then provide a dragontrail++ and adamantium frame for supreme ruggedness. then they will call the phone as Z Ultranova. whew!

  • jag

  • Anonymous

Sony is afraid it might get sewed by Apple if they make a flagship phone that is white in the front and back and has a rectangular shape. It seems like Apple has a hold on that in the U.S. of course I’m being sarcastic but I won’t be surprised if it turns to be true. Otherwise, why wouldn’t Sony make a “flagship” device this way?!!!

  • jj

They use TFT for the display, not IPS. Look at the specification.

  • laci_csk

You heard about Gsmarena or Phonearena….etc.
    I love Xperia blog too,

  • Alfino Setya

probably, I will get IPS and Triluminos on Sony mid-ranger smartphone.

  • Night of Xperia Z

Does Xperia T2Ultra have waterproof like Z, ZR and Z1?????

  • JG

wait, I have to say god bye to this dude too! LOL.. bye

  • Andreas Zaper

Yeah, but this is a 499 Euro high-end-phone. They should also announce new models with this design language in the mid-range sector.

  • Netto Dashius Hexareus

Dude, seriously, I’ve been seeing people like you all the time in this blog. They say “phone should be 4.3/4.7 and never cross over 5 and bla bla bla they suck small phone ftw”. Stop this shit. Not all people in this world would prefer small phone. There’s people like me who needs bigger phone due to big palm and fingers and eyesight problem and using a small phone is tough for us. I own an Xperia Z and LWW before and tell you, even on my mom’s 4.3 inch XS on 720p I can’t read all those letters. Just imagine that when I was still using LWW. I have to move my phone near to my eyes. But after owning an XZ,I don’t have that problem anymore. And one thing. There are no such thing as perfect smartphone display size. Its all subjective and depends on the target consumers.

  • LancerEX

The back really reminds me of my ray or the arc/arc S :)

  • laci_csk

thanks, it is very good too.

  • sarasein

    Okay bye… use ur SP,T,V,TX till 2050.

  • Siberian Messenger

    Look at the big eye(lens) of T2.. What a shame it’s not G lens///

  • Siberian Messenger

This phone is perfect for all those who want a “Sony cater to more people”——big 6” screen like Galaxy Note, IPS screen with Triluminous display + Mobile Bravia Engine 2 (not X-Reality for mobile), a 13MP Exmor RS CMOS camera..

  • Mac

    F**k Apple..
Sony will never look like no apple..
Apple ain’t the only one with white front in that shape but I understand what you mean.

Man, so what do u say about the ZL?

It’s a flagship right, aight it is not same size but still kinda same form factor.
Also the SP, ain’t a flagship, but I find the it very nice in white, as well as the ZL and yea the Xperia L too.
But u may be right because I can’t see no other reason either.

  • Siberian Messenger

And for the bezel. Now T2 has got a slim bezel as ZL. And I suddenly realize that why Xperia Z series got huge bezels: Z series are waterproof. So they need a charging dock instead of constantly using micro USB port. On the other hand, the dock must have enough headspace to sustain the phone. That’s why Z series have thicker bezels than those don’t have waterproof specialities.

  • AWSM

  • Hamed

    Z Ultranova sounds great

  • Pingback: Xperia T2 Ultra Dan Xperia T2 Ultra dual: Phablet 6 inchi, Kamera 13MP | hp tekno()

  • josesl16

Uhh… because it looks (arguably) more elegant and gives the illusion of a bigger screen when it is turned off? And maybe the screen on this one is big enough already so the front is also white-colored to save costs(possibly?)?

  • josesl16

You have the 5″ Z1 and the 4.3″ Z1 Compact for your choice. Choose one or another.

  • josesl16

what’s with that lens position… it’s so near to the edge of the phone! Considering this is a phablet that is often used two-handed, wouldn’t that lens be touched a lot? :/

  • Mac

Yep the screen looks bigger when turned of, true. But honestly, I don’t give a f*** about how big the screen looks before it’s turned on. Then I want it 2 look good, and for me the white front make the phone look better. Actually u get disappointed when turning the screen on and see that thesscreen doesn’t use as much space of the overall size as it seemed before (black phone).
With a white one u can clearly see what u are holding and adore it. It’s not just white, all colours but black that is just boring. And u can’t stand out of the crowd cuz nobody gon’ see what phone u have from distance.
This got a bit longer than intended but for me it’s all about making my one style, I don’t want iPhone cuz that’s not a personally device since most of the humans have it.
My phone is like my clothes and shoes. Like my car and my living room. Personal and stylish.

  • jj

Same spec? Sony has Bravia, higher camera resolution, and IP certification (if you compare the Z1 and nexus5)

  • josesl16

Okay, I respect your opinion that you think the white front makes the phone look better, but what about other people? Since there’s really no survey/data for this kind of thing, I can’t really argue if Sony made the right decision, and I will just say it’s a personal preference, since I myself am used to black-fronts and probably prefer that(although that’s not that big deal for me).
As for the last part, if you really insist on your “one style”, then there are several Sony phones out there with complete color on both sides, which you probably know already, but just saying since that seems a big deal for you. And not wanting the iPhone just because most people have it and it’s mainstream? Then you are called a hipster…
Not to mention Sony is already awesome and personal enough on it’s own, and it will always be even if it becomes number one someday(hopefully, so they can keep producing more, lol). As for me, I think my choice of phone(silver Xperia P, btw) and home screen customization is enough to make me unique, even as an Android user.

  • Mac

Well for me it’s pretty clear that most of the ppl don’t care but as u said it’s not everything. Aight, lemme tell u I ain’t just dizzin iPhone for beeing iPhone. I Am, and probably always will be a Sony fan, and I’m planning 2 get the z1 compact to replace my ol acro s with. But it would have been awesome if it came in purple but I will have to go for the white one. This time I need a beast of phone cuz I’m sick of running out of RAM, redrawing home screen and slow start apps.
But I still love both my neo and my acro s for all they’ve done Fo me.

  • Abhay Singh

Everything aside… The T2’s music is the best ever given to any Xperia till Date …!! :)
