in Xperia Z Ultra

SGP412JPSony Japan has announced a Wi-Fi only version of the Xperia Z Ultra (SGP412), as expected. This version is the same as the existing model, barring any cellular support and comes with 32GB internal storage (versus 16GB in the cellular model). The Xperia Z Ultra SGP412 will cost 51,800 Yen (£299, €366, $496) when it launches on 24 January 2014. The mini tablet will launch in black, white and purple colours.

A number of official accessories will also be available for the tablet including a DK33 magnetic charging dock for 2,700 Yen, the CP12 power cover for 20,000 Yen and the ES22 stylus for 1,980 Yen. There will also be a Sony DCS-XZUPL01 leather case available in black and white/grey for 3,480 Yen.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra Wi-Fi SGP412 white paper

We’re not entirely sure why Sony has a new dock for the Xperia Z Ultra SGP412, especially since the dimensions (179 x 92 x 6.5 mm) and weight (212g) are the same as the existing model (C68XX). The global Xperia Z Ultra (C68XX) has the DK30 magnetic charging dock. Update: Sony Japan seems to release its own magnetic chargers for the same handsets, for example the DK34 magnetic charging dock is for the Xperia Z1 (SO-01F).

At this stage, the Xperia Z Ultra Wi-Fi Edition has only been announced for Japan, but there is a chance it could be announced internationally at the MWC tradeshow next month.

The Xperia Z Ultra Wi-Fi Edition has a 6.4-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm APQ8074 chipset with 2.2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and micro SD memory card support, 8MP rear camera sensor, 2.2MP front camera sensor and IP55/IP58 certification for dust and water resistance.

Via Sony Japan.

Thanks Ben and DooMLoRD!

XperiaBlog just in case you didn’t noticed that information Sony Released The Xperia Z1’s Timeshift Burst Feature Into The Play Store!

Xperia Z Ultra is the world’s smallest display on a tablet, world’s thinnest tablet…

Definitely, it has an identity crisis. Haha. :D (Seriously, I want this Wi-Fi only, but give me a reasonable price to pay)

  • Mirrorpurple

A bit overpriced… even tho the specs are appealing…

  • bobeobi gzigzigzeo

    Too expensive

  • cs098

Sony you know that the Kindle fires have the same specs a fraction of the price.

  • faysal

are you retarded? kindle fire has the same specs as this? please go read the specs of kindle fire.

  • cs098

Uh snapdragon 800, 1080p display, the whole works. Yes the kindle fire hdx has the same specs as the z ultra.

    Are you retarded?

  • xperiax10.awesome

at this price – ppl will buy used Xperia Z Ultra, another silly move by Sony

  • faysal

kinde fire and kinde fire hdx are not the same product… read your previous comment….

  • cs098

I said kindle fires, with a s. Implying more than one, i.e kindle fire hdx 7 and 8.9.

  • faysal

putting an S does not mean a diffrent model.. seriously man! your making your self look even more stupid. kinde fire is a whole diffrent tablet to kinde fire hdx

  • Anzilleo Kristello Mozihim

    Oh my goodness!

  • zairolafzal zainal

Japan price rate for smartphone n tab always higger comparing other region. In malaysia xperia z ultra non lte only rm1699-1899 i bet this wifi version will cost rm1299 – 1499.

It seems Sony is focusing on oversized phones and ignoring the tablet market. Would really like to see a Xperia Z Mini 8″ tablet.

  • cs098

Sigh, putting an s means more than one. Like cats or dogs.

    Don’t be stupid.

Kindle fire is the product line up, the kindle fire hd is the low specced one, the hdx is the high specced one. Neither are called just kindle fire.

Brush up on names before you accuse someone for making a perceived mistake.

  • MarkLastiwka

assuming you want the POS amazon ecosystem instead of Google’s…

    Also, kindle’s aren’t waterproof…

  • cs098

True lol, but nothing a custom rom won’t fix.

Still I’m not saying the zu is bad, it’s just too expensive considering small tablets are generally cheaper. I think 300 – 400 is a good price range.

  • MarkLastiwka

Sony has never really been in the cheap device game. They have always gone more premium. That being said, prices for electronics tend to be more expensive outside NA, so if they do bring it to NA, it would probably be slightly cheaper. I don’t see it going as low as the Nexus 7 or Kindles though.

  • faysal

so bacially putting an S means a diffrent model? so if i put z1s does that mean im talking about z ultra? even though ther are not the same product or even on the same model range. please be quite cz i cba with idiotic comments like your.

  • gunboat_d

no, i’ll agree with the other guy. don’t try and dig out of the hole by quibbling over plurals. the Fire and the Fire HDX are different. if you’d said Fire HDX, you’d be right.

  • cs098

but there no such thing as just the kindle fire it’s the kindle fire hd, and the kindle fire hdxs.

So with just kindle fires I mean the line up, and since it’s plural I obviously mean more than one. I don’t understand what’s the problem.

  • cs098

no, s as in plural, don’t you know your English?

Don’t complain when you don’t know your English and misread what I said.

  • cs098

True, so I think the 300-400 price is good, that’s where the ipad mini is and that’s pretty good for a device like the z ultra IMO.

  • ryq24

Sony products are always expensive that’s one reason samsung and lg are beating them. Hope they do something about it.

  • jake

No . Its imposible kindle fires ( which implying all kindles having same spec ) to have same spec with zu

  • jake

Now just admit that you are wrong rather than twisting the word . Be a man admit you are wrong and we will forgive you .

  • cs098

OH you know what I mean, and meaning more than one does not mean all of them either.

  • cs098

Twisting what word? How am I wrong because I meant the the hdx when I wrote the comment.

  • faysal

u idiot OMG putting an S doesnt mean a diffrent product u silly kid. you could have said kindle fires hdx’s as they have diffrent model. kindle fire only has one model which is 7 inch!

  • cs098

I said plural, not a different product. Learn your English before you write random nonsense.

  • faysal

you need to learn how to be more clear. you said kindle fires so this includes kindle fire hd which does not have the same specs… if you said kindle fire hdxs then its a correct statement.

  • cs098

    I’m still technically correct though.

But true, I should be more clear, my mistake.

  • doraemonboi

    How is Samsung cheap LOL

  • nobody

this argument is pointless…..he just want to imply kindly fire hdx is cheaper but have higher specs than xperia z ultra……only real fanboy would choose sony over other brand if they have same specs but higher prices…just look at xperia z ultra gpe….the price is $649, while the G Pad 8.3 costs $349.99…..z ultra use snapdragon 800 while g pad use snapdragon 600……that’s it……way to pricey sony…..i’m also a sony fanboy….but hope they would change their product price tag or make them differ from other competitors….. water resistance is good but not enough for non fanboys to buy it…juz my humble opinion

  • cs098

Hey he started the nonsense, but glad you agree with my point. The zu Wi-Fi is on the pricey side.

  • cyun84

This is not a tablet, nor is it a phone. Wish it were one or the other. Test drove it for a week, but it was really lacking in the camera department. Thinness and lightness were unbeatable though.
