wpid-20140122_225234.jpgThe Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is due to release in the coming weeks and for those planning on acquiring the handset, you may be glad to hear that root and a CyanogenMod-based recovery is now available.

XDA dev DoomLoRD worked on creating the solution with the help of a willing guinea pig who owned the phone, Koush and his CWM recovery work and the Free Xperia team. The solution requires an unlocked bootloader and all details can be found in the source link.

Thanks DoomLoRD!

Who cares about root after 4.0 anyway

  • drugbone

DoomLoRD, the greatest did it again! :D

  • Alfonso

Root for Xperia Z 4.3 would be great!

  • Patrol619

Hahaha the phone is not even released yet but it has been rooted already :D DooMLorD is a Legend :)

  • assback

I don’t want unlock a bootloader in this phone, so I’m waiting for solution with locked bootloader. But as always Free Xperia team did great work!

  • Rayns

    impressive work!

  • Len ?lovek

Impressive, although I am still wanting for a “one click wonder” for the Z1.

  • rvjaywaks

but it for unlock bootloader. :(

There are some nice things you can do with root still after 4.0, like (off the top of my head):

    1. Use LinkSD to move apk’s to the SD Card
    2. Remove preinstalled apps
    3. More scripting options.
    4. Use a firewall to deny some apps connection to the internet.

It’s not a deal breaker, but it would be nice to have the option

Not to underestimate DoomLord work but phone with unlocked bootloader is easier to root because advanced dev like DoomLord will only need to compile custom kernel with custom recovery and boom, rooted the phone it is..

  • najiy91

Doomlord, please make a clean root method(not downgrade method) for zperia z1 4.3. please some one.

  • najiy91

agree with you.i hate that downgrade method.please someone make a clean root method.

Pls release to root Xperia Z 4.3 with the easy way.. :(

  • HardyHarHar

Rooting an unlocked bootloader phone is easy as throwing a stone for those who know how to extract and repack ramdisks. We need rooting + locked bootloader :D Recovery is also cross compatible with Xperia Z1 since they both have the same internals.

Still props to DoomLord for the advance work on the phone.

  • najiy91

    totally agree!

Yes we all know that rooting phone on unlocked bootloader is “easy”… Finding exploit that works on locked bootloader is the tough part…

But Atleast you have A READY-MADE OPTION NOW!

I just hope that you guys can find such exploit for locked bootloader on Z1 so that one day root is available for z1 with LB :) Anyways kudos to you for your efforts.

  • boosook

Anyway, he did it, and did it before anyone else! ;)

  • Amir

a dream device for people who wants a small flagship. this phone should sell a lot.

  • Jimvest

I used this guide to get full root on LB Z1

  • hansip

Yeah i know :) But my point is not what DoomLord had done (it is a great achievement), but such achievement is not that headline worthy considering that the phone is unlocked at the first place. It’s like “hey the Nexus 5 is rootable” sort-of news.

But anyway, don’t want to mess up Doom’s feeling i guess :) big fan of him, just an input for XperiaBlog to be better at future. Cheers!

The Z1 Compact is now shown as “in stock” at a few Swedish retailers, some of them reporting availability in stores from tomorrow :-)

    Or my personal fav.
    5. Use a VNC server on the phone, so you can remotely control it entirely from the computer.

    Any links?

Very interesting thing I just come across at – I could choose any number of jewellery items (from the list) at very heavy discount rates (up to 75% off online) – more we buy more discount – I never seen this before.
