Xperia M2 available to pre-order in Germany for €279

Xperia M2 Germany has just stuck the Xperia M2 for pre-order in all three colours (black, purple and white) for €279. This is the official RRP for Germany, so whilst it may not be as cheap as some expected, there is every chance it will drop to a more reasonable price following launch.

The Xperia M2 dual is not available, so this may only appear outside of Europe. We haven’t seen any pricing confirmation elsewhere in Europe right now, but we’ll keep you posted. The Xperia M2 has a 4.8-inch qHD (540 x 960) display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor (MSM8X26 chipset), 1GB RAM, 8MP camera, 8GB storage and a 2300mAh battery. The Xperia M2 is due to launch in April 2014.

Pre-order prices are always ridiculously high.

This could have an SRP of near €220 (300 USD), as the Claims and Test Results only listed models “with a global average launch price up to €220”

When will someone leak the wallpaper/live wallpaper from Kit Kat? lol

I hope on the Xperia M2 Dual. The Xperia M Dual is available in germany by Amazon.

But I hobe more on a new Xperia activ/ go for having sports. I think on a compact smartphone with max 4,5″ display

Isn’t it better to buy Xperia V for €240 and get a good HD resolution? Probably also the camera will be better and maybe even the performance. The only advantage of M2 (not Dual) is 4.8″ screen versus 4.3 on Xperia V – but with such a resolution, I doubt it is an advantage.

Thanks mate, but I was referring to the Xperia Kit Kat wallpapers lol

The M2 will have official support and updates though.

It just looks so good with the all white casing, front too. That’s one thing I dislike about the Z series, its two tone black and white shell. They should just rename it that instead of white, because in fact its not all white.

I just did it! :) With the V you have a better camera (I don’t have any reason to believe that the M2’s camera will be any better than the SP or L cameras, which are awful, while the V camera is good), and a sharper display for sure, since it has a higher resolution on a smaller size. And the chipset is powerful enough.

On the other hand, the V has been criticized for its small battery while this has a 2300 mAh battery on a snapdragon 400, meaning that it will probably last much longer (see the Moto G).

I prefer alcatel s2 mini or huawei g6 as price, materials and definition of display (244ppi huawei and alcatel 229 xperia m2). Sony wake up! ;)

Don’t forget the battery, which v has a weak one,and remember that xperia v is a 2012 phone and at first it’s price was 2 time and more higher,,its a natural process, look at z price at first and now,and 100% you should choose m2 over v,,because 2013,14 xperia are better than 2012 ones, its my personal experience that 2012 are weaker they are more SonyEricsson, even xperia m has better screen than t in so many situations,m had realistic colours,

You mean that process of replacing a stable and robust software with a buggy and not-optimized one, with ugly new Sony wallpapers, but with higher number of Android version…? ;)

  • Dmitry Perets

In fact, I think that Xperia V was one of the most successful Sony phones, without obvious drawbacks. Everything was good: screen, materials, design, performance… Even software (before they ruined it with their buggy 4.3).

The battery performs good enough, comparing to the others. I agree that bigger is better – so this seems to be a real advantage of Xperia M2. BUT don’t forget that it has 4.8″ display that is likely to consume more. So it needs to be tested.

It is indeed natural that the prices go down. That’s why I think that 2012 almost-top phone like Xperia V turns into a great mid-phone in 2014.

  • Dmitry Perets

My only complain about updates is: why the hell they listened to the fans and released this buggy 4.3 for Xperia V? It had the best software that Sony ever released, and – judging by the screenshots of Sony KitKat – will never release again.

  • Dmitry Perets

I hope Xperia V will get some bugfix after what they did with the last update… I am seriously thinking to flash the old 4.1.2 back… And then no need for KitKat or whatever…

I didn’t speak about resolution, I said about color quality of the display,,yes xperia v display show more details, but qhd is a good resolution too,,and certainly xperia v was one of the best phone in 2012(I must say color quality of v is incredibly good but I like realistic colors,so in comparing with m2 it can’t win,,I defeated so many phones with its display,,,my brother had one,,

Very interesting thing I just come across at – I could choose any number of jewellery items (from the list) at very heavy discount rates (up to 75% off online) – more we buy more discount – I never seen this before.
