in Firmware, Xperia Z Ultra

Xperia Z Ultra _C6833_14.2.A.1.144Earlier this week we reported on a new firmware build 14.2.A.1.144 certified by the PTCRB website for the Xperia Z1 (C6903 only) and Xperia Z1 Compact (D5503). The build was only certified on the European/Asian LTE model of the Xperia Z1 suggesting that it could be a carrier update.

Well now the same firmware build has been certified for the Xperia Z Ultra (C6833 model only). The firmware looks like a minor one over the last certified firmware (14.2.A.1.142), so we only expect minor bug fixes.

    Thats cool…so lucky z ultra user….:)

  • Marno Paz

Sony wasting time in minors updates.

  • xperiaDROID

It’s just a minor update, not the KitKat update.

  • Andrey

I dont have any updates after 14.2.A.1.136. My handset is C6833, Hong Kong.

  • kater

maybe u should try the PCC or SUS

  • androneed

    4.4 update for Z1, when ? galaxy s4 already got it…

  • RealityCheck2013

Why is SONY’s ‘PC Companion 2.1’ so sh*t for :-/ I have been trying for ages to work it out :-/
i.e i just want to update my Z1 via my Computer(Windows XP)(+ my Z1 is still on firmware version 14.2.A.0.290) but when i click on ‘Support Zone’ to update my phone i always get a ‘Internet connection required’ message(& i am connected to the internet anyway)??? + I read something about putting in your ‘Proxy Settings’. GOD knows how to find that on my Windows pile of cr*p :D (well i did find it but it was blank)
MY GOD WHY IS THIS NOT EASY TO DO FOR?!?! Oh well :(

  • xperia owner

good enough to fix some bugs while waiting for unknown date of kitkat lolll…:)

  • valentino

kitkat for z ultra will come to z ultra after Z2 launch in march..
so it will come to z ultra approximately 3 – 4 months after Z2 launch..
    maybe on july.. or august..

  • PAIN SIX PATH

Go and read people opinion about kitkat on s4,,they complain that it’s so laggy and caused so many problems,,and that their phone didn’t change by kitkat,,as I said before Samsung just upgrade number of android version,,but people…..
Latter but better with a lot of change, this is Sony updates

  • Gregor

Feels like Xperia Z is left out in the cold now. Guess it will recieve a halfdone update to 4.4 with no new features that Z1 and Z2 gets in 4.4.

  • Timbo1

Not if its bug fixes. This is what a company is supposed to do for support not wait months and months for major updates.

  • Kevin W

You are not the only one. I am current in the USA, and I am still on teh same firmware version as you. It sucks! I have the C6903 and I keep checking everyday hoping for the firmware update. I check on my Sony Bridge for MAC and Sony’s PC Companion. Both say that my phone is up-to-date. It pisses me off! the freaking firmware update is almost one month old! like WTF!

  • androneed

Tell this to the Xperia S…. lol

  • thumble

Try update service that should work for you

  • PAIN SIX PATH

I know Sony didn’t treat well with most 2012 phones,,I think because they were originally Sony Ericsson phones , they weren’t designed by Sony, and actually they aren’t Sony phones,,just look at 2013 phones quit different in all aspects, all have rain of updates, from multimedia apps to keyboard and system,,now you wanna say xperia m or l,Xperia m received two system update with good stuff in them, xperia l too, plus other app updates

Why are things so slow heading to India? I still have 14.2.A.1.136 on my xPeria Z1 C6902. And every day i eagerly connect to the PC suit but it says that i do have the latest software….Grrrrrrr, even after buying the flagship model as soon as it came in market, i don’t feel so previlidged by Sony

  • Aanjaney

You are right pal, but to be honest, issue is with Samsung support. My partner bought her S4 phone from Thailand on which i ran Samsung software update through Wi-Fi and now it is giving a lot of problems like battter drain and self restart….I guess samsung is not really doing much testing before releasing the software out. To my surprise, one of the guys at Samsung Smart Cafe said to me that the Update is did on S4 through wi-fi was not really the official one….WHAT CRAP !!

Thanks for the info;) Just did it that way & it updated it ‘but’ :( when i looked at my phone it said version 14.2.A.0.290(which was the version i had already) Maybe in the UK the newer version isn’t out yet, i am sure it is tho. Oh well.

  • RealityCheck2013

Yeah it’s annoying :( I am from the UK & no sign of the update for me to. Try it via –

    http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/%20update-service/

I can update from that site(SONY’s ‘PC Companion 2.1’ is just not working for me) I did a update via ‘Update Service’ but it just updated it to the same version i got already(i knew i shouldn’t of got excited while it was updating) :D Maybe it will work for you in the US(not sure tho)

  • PAIN SIX PATH

I think the guy on Samsung smart cafe made on excuse, but certainly Samsung release a bug fix update, then they say it’s real one,,but I hope your problem solve

  • Kevin W

So that happened to you too? I plugged my phone in Monday. It said i had a new software update. I did the update then checked on my phone and it was the same freaking firmware as before! I was so mad.

Very interesting thing I just come across at MyDeals247.com – I could choose any number of items (from the list) at very heavy discount rates (up to 75% off online) – more we buy more discount – I never seen this before.
