OMG cool! Oh, wait… £74.99………? you gotta be kidding me… that’s over the half of the SW2 here :(((((( no way Sony, you crossed the line this time :/

  • Colby Leong

I was looking forward to this but for around $128 in the States I might just have to pass. Frick so if this is expensive how much is the Core going to cost?!

  • Micro

yeah.. I really hope this is some kind of “early price”, for pre-orders or something… otherwise it will break my heart, but not the wallet :”( this price just ruined my day :(

  • kevinlow

I think the price will end up being competitive. I don’t know what the prices are in GBP, but as of today, similar products like Plantronics Backbeat Go 2 is $82 and Jaybuds Bluebuds X is $152 on Amazon.

  • Micro

    SBH80 – £74.99 ~= $125
SBH20 currently costs like $50 (official sony store)
    SBH52 – $116 (the same store)
and those last two prices are highest possible (easy to get them much much cheaper)
So 80 with almost no features is more expensive than 52..? IMHO it’s just wrong.. :/

  • kevinlow

This particular form factor is the reason it is at this price point. Most of other bluetooth devices are either clip style like the SBH20 and 52, or Bluetool style, which only gives you sound in 1 ear. The feature that makes it more expensive than other form factors is its size and ease of use. No cumbersome clips, and no looking like a bluetool. There are only a few other headsets that offer this.

How much did you want it to cost?

  • JG

So beautiful.. but too damn expensive

  • Colby Leong

High 80s, around 90 seems fair. I would gladly pay 130 for the Core

  • Wolf0491

I see similar items in eBay daily deals all the time from like LG for 40 ish bucks. What’s makes me purchasing these for $100 USD worth it? That’s how much I found them for anyway.

  • Colby Leong

Either way 2014 isn’t mostly about upgrading my Z1, depending what the Z3 has, but majority is prolly going to wearable tech. I will get this and the Core, I just wish my wallet didn’t have to hurt so much, but that’s what you get for Award Winning Designs, and the same great Sony tech.

meh, neither 20 or 52 look like a bluetooth dude. Both multipoint, NFC, bluetooth 3.0 etc. And SBH20 looks more like ipod, and comes with great headphones (actually a pair), has HD voice too and guess what – multipoint BT. You can’t say it’s like regular.
And the 52 – this looks much closer to a walkman, very good headphones too (a pair..) and a number of “smart” features (caller id, call list, smart apps on the phone side, blah blah) that make it probably more featured than the sammy’s watch itself (oh yes – and the battery..) so the price of 52 is much more reasonable.

SBH80 is beautiful (omg, it freaking is..), but basically it’s a pair of irreplaceable headphones with several buttons and an additional microphone. None of them look like bluetooth set, but when you compare the features and designs – 80’s price is just insane :/

  • xperianer

looks good, is there a similar product without in-ears?

  • LancerEX

Also available in the Philippines as well through grey market stores. :)

  • Bucho

    ‘almost no features’?
A bit of research shows that these are easily the best bluetooth earbuds you can buy, almost audiophile territory. So suck it up and get the best option or go cheaper and don’t.
    But please, stop moaning.

£74.99 is cheap. I don’t know why people complain about it. Do you guys want a 15€ thing which has no quality? So move to ebay to some china sellers…

I bought me a Shure SE315 (~200 €) about 3 years ago, and still using it and had no problems with it.

  • Cmmdr Keen

better to get sbh20 and your own cool earphones.

Very interesting thing I just come across at – I could choose any number of jewellery items (from the list) at very heavy discount rates (up to 75% off online) – more we buy more discount – I never seen this before.
