Xperia Z1 Compact TelstraThe Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is now available to buy in Australia via carrier Telstra. The handset can be ordered online and is available in stores from today. If you order online by the 31 March you will also get a free Sony DR-BTN200B Bluetooth headset. The Xperia Z1 Compact is available on contracts starting at A$63 per month and outright for A$552 (£302, €361, $501), one of the cheapest prices we have seen globally.

Telstra is offering the handset in three colours (black, pink and white) – the popular lime option is not offered. Telstra has a 60-day exclusivity on the Xperia Z1 Compact in Australia, so if you don’t want to wait for Sony to sell it directly head over to Telstra now.

Xperia Z1C is worth the attention and focus of a flagship. Sony is ruining the opportunity by not spending a bomb on its marketing and the staggered release of the handset.

  • On the other hand, Sony already has one flagship per year ‘too much’ (more than other manufacturers) so adding the Z1 Compact to their flagship range would only cause confusion to regular customers. “What exactly is the best Sony phone?”

Maybe, however, they could manage to make the second flagship of 2014 be the Z2 Compact. That would be a win-win, since it wouldn’t be directly competing with the Z2 either (as opposed to the Z and Z1).

  • In Singapore, M1 and StarHub is not planning to take in the Xperia Z1 Compact so right now it’s only exclusive to SingTel. Anyway, Sony didn’t release and promote the Xperia Z1 Compact as fast as back then when they announced the phone. Anyway, I assume the sales won’t be as high and phone won’t be that popular since Sony already announced Xperia Z2. Oh whatever, I’m still getting a non-Sammy or non-fruit phone :)

I will be nice to see this compact flagship in HK, not confirmed, probably as Chinese prefer phablets phones

Very valid point. Completely agree with what you said.

How would adding the Z1 Compact cause confusion? How hard it is for the average salesman to say that the Z1 Compact is exactly just the shrinked-down, 4.3″ compact version of the Z1, with pretty much completely same hardware as the Z1?(maybe except the battery and display resolution, but your average customer won’t care too much about that anyway…)

Very interesting thing I just come across at – I could choose any number of pants and shirts (from the list) at very heavy discount rates (up to 75% off online) – more we buy more discount – I never seen this before.
