Upcoming Sony D5103 hits Indonesian Postel; release coming soon?

by XB on 5th April 2014

in Rumours, Xperia T3

Sony D5103 PostelThe Sony D5103 model number is one we have come across before, mainly via benchmark leaks. Now it has passed through the Indonesian Postel website – the country’s telecoms regulator. Once a handset appears on Postel, it’s release isn’t normally too far away.

Following earlier benchmark leaks, the Sony D5103 is expected to run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8X26 chipset (1.4GHz quad-core processor and Adreno 305 graphics), have a 5.2-inch (720 x 1280) display with a 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, 8GB storage and 1GB RAM.

In every sense, the D5103 looks like a larger Xperia M2 to us. The Xperia M2 has a 4.8-inch qHD display, but runs the same chipset, RAM, rear camera and storage. So the Sony D5103 appears to offer a larger display and front-facing camera over the Xperia M2. We’ll bring you more news as we have it.

    Might be L2?

  • Worried user

Please make it with a removable battery!!!!!!

  • giri1in

Hope Sony doesn’t become the next Samsung…a phone launch a week :P

  • Revitalize

Yes,I hope this device battery is removable,
Xperia M2 and T2 Ultra is non-removable battery so because of that I wouldnt buy them

  • Dave Maudsley

SP2 actually, probably with different name. I reckon L2 will be somewhat a surprise…

  • Ethan ‘blaze’ Parker

Why do you guys need removable batteries? o.O They’re Li-ion, last 2-3 years easily.

  • glein

Wouldn’t it be smaller if it were an SP2?

  • Emerson Gochuico

My younger brother’s gf has xperia L and when they bought it it has a free battery that she doesn’t even use because it’s very hassle just to open up the back cover and change the battery. Not mentioning you have to charge 2 batteries every time. For me external battery are the best way to charge up just be sure to have a 2.1A output for fast charging.

  • Vinayak Mehra

SP2 should have a Krait Processor and Adreno 320 GPU

  • yl

SP is still better than 2014 midrangers of Sony till now imo.

  • Billy de Fretes

well my xperia Z already 1 year and battery still doing great job.

I think it is M2 that follows SP. Model numbers come in the same line

  • Shroomish

I wonder if this is Sony Xperia Z2 Lite or Xperia SP2. But anyway Xperia Z2 not yet available here in Indonesia but the band aid phone already goes on pre order here. Sony, I’m your biggest fan but why you always one step behind your competitor ( “-,-)

  • Coelacanth

No leak about D660X? it makes appearance on Antutu at the same time with D650X (XZ2) before?. Does it Xperia ZL2?

  • Amir

how does sony going to differentiate each of the mid range phones? M, G(?), and now this one. what’s the point of this, for specific markets?

  • Pingback: Sony Xperia G (D5103) aparece otra vez online | LuisAndradeHD.com()

  • xperiaDROID

There won’t be a “Lite” in Sony’s dictionary. Unlike Samsung, Trend Lite, Note 3 Neo, Core Advance, etc. I wonder who name their devices. Not creative, nothing neo at all.

Don’t worry, the Z2 will be available shortly, so it’s not a step behind their competitor.

  • xperiaDROID

    E – Low end
    M – Low-mid end
    L – Mid end
    SP – Mid-high end
G will be also mid-high end then.

  • Amir

thanks for the clarification. seems like sony trimmed down the lines. i think it’s a good think. there is no need for 40 different lines of phones like samsung is doing.

  • Rk

It will surely be the L2. If you see the Xperia l and m there is just a slight difference between them and over here the specs of m2 and the other rumoured device is very little so it should be the L2

  • shanefalco

    it’s xperia c2 for asian market ???

  • Prateek Bhanushali

    Have a look at T2 ultra… :)

  • hyper0926

They are calling L as camera phone. So L2 is supposed to comewith atleast 10/12/13mp right?

  • makes me confuse

  • yl

:) I already know about it and it’s quite beautiful but still not as good as sp. Only thing better is it’s screen. Although it has lower ppi same ram, adreno 320 is still better than 305. On top of that sp is more compact. I don’t really know about cpus but I think the krait one in sp might be better than Cortex a 7 but it might win on core count.

  • Rutang

I’m sick of this ! Why we can’t have a compact phone with these specs ? Only the Xperia Z1 Compact ? 4.0″ 720p IPS display, Snapdragon 400, 8/13MpiX camera, nice Walkman music chip, included fine headphones, latest Android with fast upgrades, and price around 300$ ? It’s that hard for mighty Sony ?

  • Netto Dashius Hexareus

High possibility D660X is a fake phone made by editing build.prop of Xperia Z or the Z1…

  • johnylim

except the display :( , SP display really worst amongs 720p display phone

  • Joe

I been waiting for a SP replacement, but this update seem marginal at best

  • Shroomish

LOL. They’re just recyclable plastic toys for kids. Even, a 3 years old boy won’t play with those plastic devices.

I hope so, I’m just a impatient fans. Here, just Xperia Z1 Compact that goes on pre order with free smartband.

  • Coelacanth

    I guess so

  • Shakhawat Hossain

Well if it’s M2 which follows SP then its not an upgrade actually, a downgrade if you ask me. Specially that huge display with less then 720p resolution is really helpless among the crowd of very good mid rangers from other OEM’s like Lg and Motorola(they also offers very cheap mid rangers which packs a lot of bang for bucks, just like Sony). Also the build of M2 looks really cheap, specially the back. But SP looks elegant and well built. But it all comes to personal preferences at the end.

  • Tim Vels

I am extremely sorry. It is the SP and T2 Ultra. Not the M2. Sorry.
    http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=5364&idPhone2=5965
Anyway I hate that being an ultra phone. I totally agree with you.

  • Shakhawat Hossain

You are right but maybe we are expecting too much from Sony ? Because if SP2 packs a krait (quad core) and a Adreno 320 gpu then it wont be a mid ranger actually and will hamper the sell of their Last years flagship phone (Xperia Z). And if SP2 packs quad core(A7) then it will be coupled with Adreno 305 which will not be much of an upgrade for us SP users i reckon. But its just a perspective of mine. Hoping that i am very much wrong :)

  • Shakhawat Hossain

Smartphone display size standard is increasing day by day. And it looks like Sony is one of the first ones which were looking to jump ahead of the competition with ridiculously sized display’s(Z ultra, T2 ultra and now M2). So i wouldn’t be shocked so much if it turns out to be a SP2 with 5.2″ display. The only phone they have done right this year is the Z2 as of now. It looks like 2014 is going to be a very bad year for Sony and for Sony fans like me who are holding very high hopes which won’t come true by the looks of it….

  • Shakhawat Hossain

Besides, SP had the biggest display among the mid-rangers of 2013 from Sony. So It is only logical that the successor of SP will also carry the same trend into 2014. So my speculation is that, if Sony has plans to out a 5.2″ mid-ranger phone in 2014 then it will be SP2 (if this is to have the biggest display among mid-rangers). Sorry for bad english :)

T2 ultra has ridiculously sized display, too big for regular folks like me. 4.6″ is perfect for 720p resolution but 6″ is not imo. SP users won’t be able to live with the 245 ppi pixel density display (SP had 319 ppi display) but it all comes to personal preferences in the end :)

  • Shakhawat Hossain

In terms of color reproduction and viewing angle, yes ! But in terms of sharpness, Sp is still good then a good lot of mid rangers out there :)

  • Prateek Bhanushali

Yep, absolutely its a personal preference bro :) But soon SP2 or whatever it is called will enter the market… May be this is it ;)

  • glein

The SP is supposed to be a click below the Z though, the mid range device powerful enough to do most stuff except surpassing the high end device, to be more value for money than said device and have a more manageable screen size. This one is more of a downsize in specs with a bigger screen, similar to what the T2 Ultra is in comparison to the Z Ultra.
