Lifelog now supports non-Sony phones; SmartBand SWR10 app updated too

Lifelog Google Log-in_2Sony’s Lifelog application has been updated to build version 1.0.A.1.1. No changelog has been provided in the Google Play Store, but it seems like non-Sony phones are now supported with users able to log-in using a Google account. For Sony Xperia handsets, it is mandatory to log-in via a Sony Entertainment Network account and we have found no way around this.

The other change that we noticed is a couple of new options within Settings > Profile where you can set your “Stride length” and “Running stride length”. The SmartBand SWR10 application has also been updated ( with the main change being the addition of an auto night mode.

Does the lifelog app need the Smartband to do step counts, or does it use the accelerometer to do it as well? What about distance travelled?

  • the_black_dragon

travel distance works. it checks position every 15 minutes.
Step Count does not work. Z1 and most other phones do not have a dedicated Step Counting chip inside so it would use main CPU and that would cause huge battery drain

  • MarkLastiwka

I figured as much. It seems to be counting my calories though. Not sure how lol

How does it do the movies/games/books? based on if you use those apps in your phone? Won’t count if you read a paper book or watch a movie on the TV?

  • the_black_dragon

calorie usage is atm just the base energy consumption of average people (depending on weight, age, gender and height)
it reads the system log what apps are used when and how long (depending of category of this app marked in play store and app details) so e.g. FB, FB Messenger, Skype, WhatsApp, Twitter, Tapatalk and so on are categorized as Social interactions. Movies App, Play Movies, VLC and so on count as video apps and so on…
real paper reads and TZV times are not logged of course. this would need a seperate input tot the app to mark begin and end of each action and i’m sure… nobody would think of that everytime ;)

  • MarkLastiwka

I was looking if there was a separate input option but couldn’t find anything lol

You basically confirmed what I already thought. It’s more partially logging life in that sense…

That to me is still does not clear whether the Smartband tracks my step. Well if it doesn’t, then it’s a no-go for me.

Where is the SmartBand even available yet? It’s not in the States is it??
