Another Verizon Xperia Z2 press image spotted

in Xperia Z2

Verizon Xperia Z2At the start of the month, Sony Mobile’s official social channel inadvertently revealed an image showing a Verizon branded Xperia Z2. The image showed the front of the handset, with the Verizon logo on top and Sony logo at the bottom. Sony quickly pulled the image and reiterated that the handset would be available in the US in its unlocked form during the summer.

Well now another Verizon Xperia Z2 has been outed via official Sony channels, this time it comes from Sony Korea’s official microsite for the handset. The image below, taken from that page, shows the back of the handset with a Verizon logo on the back, along with the 4G LTE symbol underneath. Whether or not we see the Xperia Z2 on Verizon in the future, it looks like Sony got very close to making it happen.

The partial side boob dripping wet in left corner?

Too bad Verizon isn’t compatible with TMo and AT&T bands.
Also if anyone else is interested PhoneArena finally out out their Xperia Z2 review, topping both S5 and M8. I usually prefer TheVerge’s reviews but different reviews reveal different views of a device.

Whether Sony or verizon release a Verizon compatible Z2 almost doesn’t matter at this point; Verizon is said to be activating VoLTE this year so the unlocked Z2 would work on Verizon’s network, as Z2 is compatible with Verizon’s band 13 LTE network. One other thing about that though is, while the new Nexus 7 was compatible with Verizon’s network, some people were able to pop in an active Verizon SIM while others who brought their Nexus 7 to Verizon were told it was not compatible.

What’s stopping Sony from selling the Z2 in the US right now, whether online or at the Sony store? Is it a production issue or a negotiation issue with the US carriers?

Good lead and there’s an excellent review there!

Only Sony knows why they aren’t pushing the Z2 through the US store. As for advertising and working with carriers, it’s simple, fear and the heavy saturation. Fear that all the money they throw in advertising and marketing doesn’t come back. In the states theirs always a Samsung or Apple ad, almost everywhere you look. Even now they companies rather advertise the new S5 than the M8.

Sony would rather focus in markets they know they can do well in, where they know they can make a profit. You have to remember that Sony is a big company with many resources, but while they’ve had a sort of absence in the US apple and Samsung have grown to huge proportion so over time. Unfortunately, Sony wow rather play it safe for now, and hopefully in the near future they will expand their foothold in the states. I do think the Z2 could definitely eat up profits from the S5 and M8, I mean just look at all the people buying the M8 for its speakers and design, and buying the S5 for its IP certification and lame scanner.

I do think it’s hard to find a good site that has unbiased reviews. I think AndroidAuthority is good at that, they don’t really lean to one device over another.

Like I say below, the bands are going to be a moot point soon as Verizon moves to VoLTE. With voice and data all traveling over LTE, the only compatibilty that would matter would be for Verizon’s Band 13 LTE, which the Z2 does support. (I am assuming, of course, that the unlocked version of the Z2 would support band 13; I see no reason they would make a special unlocked version for the US market.) See the specs here:

When it comes to Android phones, especially flagships I would rather save up and drop the cash for an unlocked version. I hate waiting for updates, and just imagine having a carrier locked Xperia phone, waiting months an end for the update, just to wait longer so your carrier can eat up more of your memory.

Have you seen their recent reviews for the S5? You’d think it was a commercial from Samsung. They’ve been pissing me off lately, in fact I don’t bother with them anymore.
