Xperia Z2Sony Japan announced the Xperia Z2 (SO-03F) and Xperia Z2 Tablet (SO-05F) for NTT DoCoMo earlier today, along with the Xperia A2 (SO-04F). From what we can tell, the Xperia Z2 (SO-03F) is the same as the global version but comes with 32GB of internal storage as standard (global model has 16GB). There is also support for Full-Seg, although this is via an adaptor rather than being built into the handset. The Xperia Z2 (SO-03F) has no infra-red support.

The Xperia Z2 Tablet (SO-05F) is an LTE model with 32GB of internal storage. DoCoMo plans to launch the Xperia Z2 on 21 May 2014, with black , purple and white colours available. The Xperia Z2 Tablet is scheduled for launch at the end of June 2014 in black and white colours.

Via Sony Japan (1 and 2).

Definitely looking forward to upgrading to a future Xperia with at least 32GB of internal storage.
Surprised Sony Mobile has not offered it to markets outside Japan, and the USA, so far.
With the niggly problems associated with MicroSD Memory Cards seen on the official forums, increased internal storage is a must IMHO.

Agree! Glad I am in Japan right now! Although not sure I will pick one up. Docomo usually doesn’t like to unlock its devices unless you are on contract with them.

  • Daniel Dorestant

    Full-Seg?

  • Ado Kanashii

WTF 32G?? Remember what i said before??? Japan ALWAYS gets the BEST shit, China Mobile the worst and the rest of the world AVERAGE Shit!! Now tell me im wrong!! Damm…

  • mountain

The problem with Japanese phones are they do not update as much as international versions. My Z1f is still on 4.3.

  • Ziich

32gb should have been standard on all versions

  • webusermy

You make it sound as if there is an “option” for a 32gb model.

I would gladly pay the premium for a 64gb model option.

  • Ziich

well the Japanese variant supposedly comes with 32gb standard.
the z1s in the states did as well. for 700 bucks at least 32 should be standard with the option for 64 and 128!

  • jj

Yeah, that’s why you have to find a ROM on XDA Developers…I always buy mine unlocked anyways.

  • jj

Well Sony is a Japanese company so why not have the best! For example if I am making a Joint Fighter for 5 countries of course I am going to have the best technology in the variant my country is going to use. Not a true apple-to-apple comparison but the concept is the same.

  • Hanzubou

You could say that Sony is attracting japanese customer, since Apple and Samsung still dominates the smartphone category there

  • xperiaDROID

I feel you bro…But hey, at least we still get the shit.

  • Mac

They have this “over the air television service” that can be reached by an giant antenna. I believe that Full Seg is HD video and one-seg is SD. Correct me if I’m wrong.

  • Abdul Ghani

yes hope new flagship phones and tablets have 32 or 64 gb option

  • Ado Kanashii

    Hahaha youre absolutlly right!

  • au

Practically, you can watch Japanese broadcasting programs just like you watch them with your home television. In addition, you can also watch them in high-definition standard. Some smartphones and tablets support both of OneSeg and FullSeg TV Tuner.

  • au

And don’t forget that they also include digital TV Tuner and Japan-centric features. Even both of Xperia Z2 SO-03F and Xperia Z2 Tablet SO-05F allow you to make voice call and video call via VoLTE (Voice over LTE) service offered by docomo.

  • Ado Kanashii

Thanks bro, Does everyone see what i mean??? Im not being dramatic, but i mean C’mon!!!

  • Daniel Dorestant

Wow I never knew that… Very cool

  • Daniel Dorestant

    That’s cool, thanks

  • hasdunk

There are always pros and cons. For example, I’m a docomo’s xperia z1 user, and we’re still using android 4.2.2, until now

  • hasdunk

Well to be honest, japanese tv shows are pretty sucks in general if you’re foreigners.

  • Ado Kanashii

I see dude its just that me from a foreigner perspective, i always get to know only the pros for japan. (like video games for example and “Japan only” realeses) on the other hand, I didnt have the idea of people still stucked at 4.2.2 in the Z1 wow!!

  • hasdunk

Mainly it’s because of japanese bureaucracy, and the amount of docomo’s bloatware in the systems. Japanese carriers don’t really care about upgrading their phones’ android version because they just want to make sure they change model every 6 months or so. And yes, that’s also one of the reasons why Sony’s flagship comes every 6 months, not every year.

  • jj

Because many Japanese don’t use service plans (voice) like we do in the States. They use a app called LINE to do a lot of communicating and e-mail.

  • jj

I was at Docomo earlier and checked out the Xperia Z2 and Xperia A2…Now I will have to try to find one unlocked when it hits the market (next week). Docomo does not like unlocking there phones for people if you don’t have some sort of plan with them.

  • Mac

    No problem man B-)
