According to the changelog, the new firmware adds the option to perform a master reset using the hardware keys. I received my Walkman update a few weeks but nothing so far as of today. still waiting to see…..

I got tired of waiting for T-Mobile to update the device. Installed generic C6603 commercial/jurnalist version of Sony’s recent 4.4 release on Saturday. My phone runs great so far and has more features such as camera applications. I’ve even noticed better network performance and battery life. I was testing everything to make sure it worked or I would have gone with my restore of 4.2. WiFi calling wasn’t something I used so I’m fine without it.

What is WiFi Calling i never saw it on the normal version of any Z series
Is it like a LAN call ?

    Could you explain it more

  • Mark Mann

basically you connect into wifi and you make phone calls using the wifi as your phone connection(yes to your question)

  • What a superb features contain in T-Mobile Xperia Z. I hope these features are latest. I really found really informative for me. Yes, I also want to some Explain about the WiFi.

As Mark Mann mentioned, it allows you to make calls over a WiFi connection. It’s not like voice over internet like Google Voice. It’s different and built into the framework that T-Mobile installs on their branded devices. It allows you to use your phone number for making and receiving calls. Before they offered unlimited minutes, it would subtract from your monthly allotment so it wasn’t free.

It’s a nifty feature if you find yourself without cell signal. Hence why they push WiFi calling as their answer to poor indoor reception and when anywhere T-Mobile does not offer service. Sprint is now doing the samething but T-Mobile has had this for years.

If you are using a phone that is not sold through T-Mobile then you would not have seen this. International versions of the Xperia Z or one sold through T-Mobile and flashed different software will not have it.

The update is available as of today, but the build number is 10.4.C.0.814, not 10.4.C.0.808: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53148361&postcount=982

Only through Sony PC Companion/Sony Update Service/Sony Bridge for Mac at the moment, no OTA update yet.

Nothing here, I’ll try connecting to the PC as someone mentioned.

Also, I couldn’t get access to XperiaBlog for a week now, yet everything seems to have been working just fine? What gives?

    This is 4.3 or 4.4?

  • XperiaBlog

That is really odd – we’ve not noticed any hiccups on our end…? Anyone else suffered from perceived downtime?

  • XperiaBlog

    Thanks for the heads-up Apollo89.

c6606 update to 10.4.C.0.814 pushed my from from 4.2.2 to 4.3 (Jellybean). This is not a kitkat update :-/

Did the upgrade via the Sony Bridge software, worked pretty good, all my data still present. Haven’t fully reviewed the changes (some visual changes for the stock messaging app at the least) but it appears to still function ok

Weird, I was so sure you guys were down.

I tried checking at work at home and my phone, the browser would take forever to respond and finally tell me the site was unavailable.

My phone installed the update today and for some reason it will no longer go beyond half volume with headphones plugged in. It works fine without but as soon as you plug into headphone jack it reverts to half volume and will not turn up. Can I fix this?
