SmartBand SWR10Sony has launched the SmartBand SWR10 in the United States through the Sony Store website and retail outlets for $99.99. The SmartBand is due to start shipping today. Only the black colour of the SmartBand is available right now, but additional colours are due to land later this month. SmartBand SWR10 is designed to be used with smartphones running Android 4.4 KitKat. Now all we need is the Xperia Z2 to make an appearance in the US too.

I’m hoping the Z1 Compact shows up in the US too!

Expensive I’d say. I own one and I’d say that it really shouldn’t cost more than $69.99.

  • Lunkz

    Serious? Not worth a 50 € Bill.
Has just some sensor and a vibration motor, and bluetooth. Thats it. Better buy the Smartwatch 2…

  • RbbrDcky

SBH80’s are now available on the site too!

Actually I would love to have a digital watch on it that could be lighted up like the 3 white LEDs. I keep raising my arm trying to get the time..
Also as the music player is almost the only thing I use it would be nice to controll the volume somehow too. Time for more colors!

yes, smartband lands in but can’t record cycling or transporting with car, bus, etc

Why would this arrive first before the Z2? Lol.

  • RbbrDcky

Why would that need to come first? The smartband works with any KitKat Android device.

(Oh right, just remembered mobile carriers lol.)
Well, I’d think associating a new accesory to a brand-new smartphone(Z2) would work better for marketing purposes. Especially since they would work together the best with the same design language and app design in the Lifelog App. Well, having it with Z1 isn’t much too far I guess.

  • RbbrDcky

I do agree with you on that point :)

I have the SBH80 around my neck right now connected to my Z Ultra. It’s an awesome device. I got it from Hong Kong through an online retailer a couple weeks ago.

  • Spectre51

    It’s coming.

I wouldnt recommend anyone spending their money on it. I brought it from amazon and have now sent it back. Reason ? It’s mostly pointless. I found it inaccurate at times when it comes to counting the footsteps and the distance walked. The media device control is the best feature of it. It was one of the main things I wanted it for. The other annoying thing was that i keep losing connection with my Z1 even tho the phone was right next to the band. You can use the life log app without the band so pretty much you are just paying 80 euro for a pedometer. If someone wanted a Sony gadget i would recommend a Sony Smartwatch, since the last update its just perfect.

  • Ethan ‘blaze’ Parker

I really prefer this over a smartwatch, also this is the best Smartband in the market atm.

But umm, they all are overpriced IMHO. Its just a band after all.

  • Arthur Simon

I got it free with my Z2 and thus I’m using it, but I have to admit that 100 euros is a bit too much for what it offers.

  • Lunkz

yes me too. But still the price is the kill argument. But I will wait…

  • Ethan ‘blaze’ Parker

Same here, got it free with my Z2! :P

  • BruceLeeRoyJenkins

They are great, excellent sound quality, feels really comfortable. I wonder if the second iteration will feature Sony’s active noise cancelling.

  • Raj Singh

They should put a heart rate monitor on it and merge it with the SBH52 with a tiny display… right now there are too many accessories but they all do things a bit different so if you want everything you have to buy it separately. I don’t mind paying for it but you’d kinda look a knob carrying/wearing the SBH52, SBH80, SWR10 and BRH10.

  • Sreekanth Namboothiri

With Indian market they giving it free with Xperia Z2
    and i got mine too.
    practically useless for our lifestyle.
they should have given some good heasets instead of this band.

  • InspectorGadget80

Bout damn time took it long it enough. I found it its cheaper on amazon site 88$. And where the heck is the green strap at?

  • Tech Gospel

Meanwhile… Sony Philippines has all the accessories for the Tablet S (yup, the S) but never sold it here… and no accessories for the Tablet Z or Z2… and no SBH52, or SBH80. And they wonder why no one is buying?!??!

  • josesl16

I read somewhere that active noise cancelling requires almost no latency between the input of the external noise to the output of the cancelling noise. Bluetooth has some latency, so the only way that it would work may be if the headset itself can process it internally without the phone. I don’t know if they can do that.
Otherwise, I also have it and I agree it’s a great device, easily hidden and you won’t even notice it after a while. It should’ve had better flaps and bluetooth 4.0 for stand-bys though.

  • BruceLeeRoyJenkins

Agreed discreet when you want them to be, and stylish when you don’t. Fit much better than the Z1 packaged earbuds, flap is pretty annoying, but the “splash” proof is a nice, needed, plus

  • Rene Pedroso

This should be on the Smartwatch 2
