CyanogenMod 11 Nightlies hit the Xperia SP

Xperia SP Android 4.4.3The Sony Xperia SP now has official CyanogenMod support. Nightly builds for CyanogenMod 11 started a few days ago, which means owners can enjoy Android 4.4.3 KitKat without having to wait on Sony’s upgrade plans.

As with any nightly build, do not expect a fully stable release, however most Xperia SP owners that have tried the CM11 release report a smooth performance. To try this for yourself, head over to the CyanogenMod website – remember that you’ll need an unlocked bootloader. See a video of CM11 on the Xperia SP in action below.

CM11 for Xperia SP

Thanks F170!

    Wow !

  • Remsi

    finally! try it!

  • vasu

I hate pure android ui… It doesn’t give Xperia feel.. Very big icons nd poor battery

  • Guest

I feel the same, it just looks common and ugly. Sony Xperia have that sophisticated look.

  • Dumba$$

Why did you just reply to yourself in the manner of a different person? :-/

  • zia

does any body experience CyanogenMod 11 Nightlies in xperia sp …???
please share your experience in xpria sp… :P

  • bane

LOL dude, why are you talking to yourself. And since you unlock bootloader (maybe also root) you can change the buttons and of course it doesn’t take much to change wp and other things. And if I’m not mistaken CM has its own theme engine, too.

  • Imtiaz

Thied class loking UI compared to Sony’s aritocrative one B-)

  • imtiaz

    *third class

  • Bob

Lol how did u know he was replying to himself?

  • bane

Same registered name was replying to himself, now it’s changed to Guest. I guess he was bored :D could be some glitch too idk.

  • K

Does this imply no KK from sony?

  • Hubert Brandstetter

I have CM11 running on the SP since a few days. Much better than 4.3 (very laggy) – smoothness is similar to 4.1.

You can find 4.4/CM11 for the SP also for locked bootloaders.

  • Ostap Koloda

Fuck this! I love Xperia UI, but Cyanogen mod usually sucks – too black appearence

  • hyper0926

i felt the same as well. You need to customise it. A lot of customizations can be done to cm11 than xperia since its based on stock.

  • ritamasrex

Xperia UI is more prefferable than kitKat

  • Jurgen

I tried to do the exact same steps he did. (open menu, take a pic, browse the settings) and my phone could just not follow! This just shows again how buggy our rom is…

Insert *We want Sony to create a KitKat firmware, not this* comment here

  • Aziz Suliman

We just need original kitkat from Sony
    We don’t need cyenogeb mode……

  • Guest

I haven’t (i’m the second Guest), you often see me commenting in SP articles (and telling people to shut up when they complain on here like this is an official Sony site). The other guy/girl has a different style of writing (or typing in this case) than me. I use the name Guest as I can’t be asked to make an account. So, basically, its a different person :)

Also, I really don’t want to unlock the bootloader, i’m not that technical and I just want official Sony software on my phone.

  • Guest

Thanks, I think a lot of people like me just comment and don’t have an account with Disqus.

  • roel

    speak for yourself

  • Guest 56

Shutup fool. You can reply too my ass.

  • bane

Were you pretending to be your ass when you were replying yourself? Congrats you achieved it, you are an ass.

  • StraightEdgeNexus

CyanogenMod is far more advanced than ugly xperia(kitkat) UI. Also CM is faster and has many customization options So, CM> > > > > >stock > > > > xperia.

  • StraightEdgeNexus

Third class English LOL. CM11 FTW, Xperia=buggy and ugly.

  • StraightEdgeNexus

    sony updates= more bugs

  • StraightEdgeNexus

It is android and there are hundreds of custom themes, which can change every bit of appearance.

  • Aziz Suliman

    Possible.
    but can fixing bugs.
    Not a problem.

Xperia SP is laggy, sometimes really slow and unusable.Even after restoring to factory settings. And the hardware is great.Sony fucked up the FW in SP.(Android 4.1 and 4.3 too) I think i will go for Cyanogenmod or other Rom.

you clearly did not understand what i meant when i said “speak for yourself”. i have nothing against Sony releasing kitkat (if that is even going to happen) … but there’s nothing wrong about giving us an OPTION to use cyanogen. if you don’t want to use cyanogen then that’s perfectly fine … and if you want to keep on wishing for something that is most probably never going to happen … then go right ahead. i am good either way.
