At the start of the year, we saw the Sony D6603 model number in a benchmark. The specs leaked by that benchmark looked very similar to the eventual Xperia Z2 (D6503), although RAM was pegged at 2GB RAM rather than the 3GB seen in the Xperia Z2.
Well, now another variant of the same handset – this time with model number D6653 – has appeared on the Indonesian Postel regulatory site. Models appearing on the Postel site always tend to be released at some point down the line, so could we be looking at the potential Xperia Z3?
The Sony D6653 could even be a particular variant of the Xperia Z3, much like the Xperia Z2a (D6563) is supposed to be part of the Xperia Z2 (D650X) family. Time will tell, but we would expect rumours to intensify over the summer months as we prepare for IFA 2014 in September, where Sony Mobile is expected to launch new mobile products.
