Can’t wait for Android L? Try this Xperia Theme while you wait

Android L Xperia Theme_2XDA dev JanM RS has released an Xperia Theme based on the design of the next major Android iteration, dubbed “Android L”. The design elements include the Android L style buttons, colours and wallpaper. Quite a nice theme worth trying.

The great thing about the theme is that it works for non-rooted handsets as long as you are running Android 4.4.2 KitKat on your Sony Xperia device. If you want to give it a try, you can download the apk here and install as you would any normal Xperia Theme.

Update: Also see Ben Ling’s port of a similar Xperia Theme on XDA. This will work with devices on Android 4.3 and above, but requires root.

Plz someone make one for Xperia phones like SP having 4.3 JB

  • Sourav Banerjee

Not working on Xperia SP non-rooted 4.3 JB. only the wallpaper changes but not the buttons. plz see that it works on non-rooted devices.

  • Sourav Banerjee

softkeys are not changing :( need on non-rooted devices too..as we won’t get Android L

  • Andre Candido

    Wow! Awesome!

  • Sander Puus

didn’t you read? article specificially states that it works as it should “as long as you are running android 4.4.2”

  • bimmersonygasm

Has anyone noticed the buttons look like PS buttons? Coincidence or is the next Nexus or Android Silver going to be made by our beloved Sony?

  • ColtJDM

    the same problem for me

  • Sander Puus

that’d be awesome, OR it’s sony marketing at its best – charge google and every single company that ever intends to use andoid L for using PS buttons… That’d bring sony in the bucks that are needed to pass other companies and reach their goal as a top3 smartphone manufacturer just under sammy and iDevices

  • zaimi

Maybe they know how to write but don’t know how to read :)

  • Sander Puus

    lol, maybe…

because Google loves SONY! not to mention Google has been begging SONY to make Nexus phones from the beginning till this day, and first Google TV was partnered with SONY, and they used SONY TV and put SONY logo front and centre during I/O

have you not noticed Android has been influenced by Xperia UI over the years? it was SONY made Google go three buttons configuration; and with back button on the left instead on the right (idiots at Samsung always define logic with their designs)

  • roeshak

Not very happy with these new on screen buttons at all. Having said that, android is long overdue a facelift and Android l certainly does that across the whole ui. Really looking forward to it but don’t think we’ll see it until early next year lol

  • ToniDeLaPlata

The great thing about the theme is that it works for non-rooted handsets as long as you are running Android “4.4.2 KitKat” on your Sony Xperia device.

  • lol

and next sony will announce ” Xperia L won’t receive Android L “

  • niugininexus

Norton Mobile Security flagged this so “malicious”. False positive? Uninstalling just to be on the safe side.

  • tuser

Thanks for the help,i dont know how to read,so i didnt see that.

That sentence implies that it works on other devices that are rooted, otherwise why is that a great thing.

  • ToniDeLaPlata

note the “non-rooted” and the “Android 4.4.2” in the sentence, those are the keywords. Also if your Xperia T is rooted, do you still use the stock rom? If so and you are actually on at least 4.4.2 , it should work :)

  • FrancoMurru

  • Luís Alberto Pérez

Nice theme, works great on my Z with 4.4.2
But I think that this theme, as all the others, should also change the applications icons accordingly the subject of every theme.
