Xperia Z2 replace screenIt always fascinates us how manufacturers can cram so much technology into something the size of a phone. Smartphones have gradually replaced many standalone gadgets such as MP3 players, digital cameras, portable gaming machines, GPS devices and more. Therefore, it can be quite painful if your phone gets damaged, especially as repair can be costly.

Witrigs, a specialist in spare smartphone parts, has released a video showing how you can replace the screen of the Sony Xperia Z2. It’s a fascinating watch, even if you don’t have the handset, just to see the process of stripping the phone down to its display and then seeing how it is put back together. If you do unfortunately need to replace the screen, all of the necessary parts from Witrigs can be found here.

The only way to fix the gap issue yourself I guess…
How about using the heat gun to heat the screen, then realign so that gaps disappear?

    Hi! ASL PLZ

He should have wiped the camera lens before applying the adhesive. Leaving the adhesive in open air for a long time increases the chances of dust, micro fibers floating in the air to stick in it which could compromise water proofing.

2nd is the screen the same as the original one? I noticed the second one looked washed out already.

3rd is it the same adhesive as the original one? Seems like the original one hardens and is very sticky while the second one looks not that hard and doesn’t dry at all. I assumed that it was dry at first and it would need to be heated first in order to place the adhesive. I would have hoped it has a tar like attribute.

1st obstacle you would encounter is… “Where should I get a IPS screen to fit into my z1” I mean you can’t just get one from the galaxy note and trim it with a glass cutter and fit it into your phone right? :D

2nd the pins. I don’t think the would have the same number of pins and the same placement at all. You can’t just pry the connector from the z1’s screen and stick it into the IPS screen and done :p

What about those programmers that get’s pressured by the company to provide updates ASAP thanks to the whinny update whores here in xperiablog? lol! At least those kids just have to do the daily routine while the programmers need to burn some braincells and have daily headaches and stress doing their jobs.

  • RealityCheck2013

I bet he dropped it after doing all that :D + Wouldn’t it be nice if it was easier to change part on a phone or any other Tech stuff. But i guess Companies would hate that :-/

Quick job but this phone would have earned 100+ Scratches and moreover cleaning the back side and then cleaning the screen. This is indeed Chinese without the brain :)

Boom, you have now a waterproof flagship what isn’t waterproof anymore.

  • Dion

Why should it not be waterproof anymore?
