in Firmware, Xperia Z3 series

Xperia Z3 Compact_23.0.1.A.5.77The Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact has a new software update around the corner, as a new build number has just been certified by the PTCRB. Currently, these handsets are currently running version number 23.0.A.2.105, but the new update would move this to build number 23.0.1.A.5.77. Given the change in build number, this could be more than just a bug-fix. However, it may be a carrier update. We’ll let you know if and when it starts rolling.

Xperia Z3 build number 23.0.1.A.5.77 certified for D6603 and D6653 variants

Xperia Z3 Compact build number 23.0.1.A.5.77 certified for D5803 and D5833 variants

    Whaddo we want? LOLLIPOP!
    When do we wannit? NOW!

  • Ahmed Ghorab

    maybe lollipop !!!!!!?

  • Simo

    No not now

  • Simo

  • Ahmed Ghorab

i know it should be released in 2015 but maybe Sony will make Christmas soon :D

  • Simo

    But lollipop is buggy

  • Me

Keep telling yourself that, and everyone else can keep wanting lollipop (despite any bugs you mention)

  • Razvan

Although i would also like Lolli before Xmas i doubt that in only one month from ASOP release, SONY is ready with development and integration of all Sony apps so soon :) !

  • Micro

    you never know mate ;)
they actually made it with 4.4.4 for Z1 before anyone else, nobody expected that too ;]
ok, my z2 tab felt a bit offended with this but.. oh well ;D

  • Lollipop killed my Nexus 2012. It is unusable.
I want stable business phone, not beta product. It is better to wait month longer than having bricked premium phone.

  • Xyor

Just judeging by the build, it’s still kitkat

  • fluxx

Anybody knows if there are first leaks of Sony Xperia UI with Lollipop? Will there be big changes?

You want a stable business phone? Get a BlackBerry.

  • I mean business, not outdated ;-)

  • Raj Singh

I can’t tell if you’re trolling or if you actually believe it’s outdated. It probably doesn’t have the apps you want. I’m curious to know why you think BB 10.3 is outdated.
If you want ‘stable’ and ‘business’ oriented, BlackBerry is your best bet.

  • No, I’m not trolling. But if you want something stable, it doesn’t mean you don’t want access to new features, applications and compatibility with others. If I’m supposed to only use e-mail, some kind of communicator service and phone calls, added security and two profiles – yes BB is the way to go.
But business doesn’t always mean banking business. I mean quite reliable phone with newest features but stable and working. I paid for working phone and want it to be up to date & working at the same time.
If I’d like to be a beta tester for Google I’d go for Nexus line. But I chosed Sony for its look & feel. I want to have Lollipop as soon as possible, but I want polished product, not developer product. Today L 5.0.1 was released fixing some bugs (no change log released yet). I want that Sony bring most up to date, polished, stable and consistent experience with its new OS revision. Until that I prefer to have stable 4.4.4.

Back to BB. When you work with companies using Exchange services I’d consider Lumias for their e-mail support. But limited store and quite closed system (like in iOS) prevents me from using them.

I think you’re right. Blackberry is a good device, but we have more than one reason to chose Sony devices.
And I Suggest to everyone to keep in mind that Lollipop is probably newa nd need to be fixed a lot before to be carried out to others devices, so i’m ready to wait before to get it, even if release take more than 6 months.
My Z3c is fast, responsive, and can do what i want.

  • Ritwij

I have two BlackBerry phones, and both are pathetic after software updates. One is BB OS 7, which i don’t know how to downgrade and not even interested. Other is BB OS 10, which is quite nice but battery calibration and all sucks on it. Sometimes it would turn off at even 30% , and my battery is fine. So, not really stable.

    If you say so…
In my opinion, BB10 is one of the best platforms for enterprise.

  • genwral

many versions were certified but roll up never happens!

  • Xperia V user

It would be so good if BB10 runs on Xperia devices.

  • ?? ???

My Z3 is still on 23.0.A.2.93.. Is there anyways to update it faster??

It might be, but I have a lot of issues. To solve the battery issue, I had to flash a leaked OS version, which came with another set of issues!

  • Guru Tim

Faster autofocus, and sharper images and I’ll be happy. I don’t really care about Lollipop. My Z3C is insanely fast, looks good and absolutely destroys everything I throw at it. Camera is solid, but the only weakpoint. Sort that out and damn I’ll be over the moon!

  • Hieu Nguyen

These posts are pretty much pointless – as mentioned, there have been so many firmware versions that have been certified yet never released. Sony have been incredibly slack in regards to software updates. I’m still having damn issues with phone calls whilst being connected to WIFI and LTE. Neither my carrier or Sony Mobile support want to help.

  • Ritwij

Aaaand now I’m back with the battery issues again.

  • Samsung

    Sony is always too late!

samsung, htc, lg, and moto are much faster, for example Note 4 is going to eat Lolipop next week while Xperia Z series have to wait until next year, Q1 and Q2 lol!

  • Raj Singh

That’s weird. We have thousands of BlackBerry devices deployed within our organization. I have not come across that complaint yet. We also have highly sensitive data that must remain secure… no issues there. Our communications infrastructure is paramount to providing our services to very high profile clientele. In my experience and during my tenure, it has been extremely reliable with very little fuss and next to no issues.
    Professionally, I use a BlackBerry.
Personally, I use an Xperia Z Ultra.

  • lovebmw

thats because they had many many many many many many phones… all that will change now, and like i have been saying in the last 7 years, we will see faster updates. more positive feedback from consumers, better quality and very competitive phones.

  • Phat-t

I love my Xperia Z3 Compact!! That is all, move along now.

  • GregLu

Just to make thing clear : How about having officially Lollipop on a Galaxy S3 ? Or even a Galaxy S4 ? Is there any announcement here ? No ? Such a shame.

In the meatime, Sony has his ENTIRE Xperia Z Series upgraded to Lollipop.

Looks like some Sony users will get some tooth fixed after that !

    Just sayin’.

Please come back when Samsung will announce officially some upgrade for his Galaxy Line, from Grand to Sx to whatever. Too many models, poor software update, flashy colours, meh. And i’ve owned a S4, BTW.

  • GregLu

BB PassPort is perfect for a business phone, truly ;)

  • GregLu

No changelog from Sony ? No update then. Simple as that ^^

  • Dan Vafidis

yea and what’s the difference between samsung KK and lolipop? the system menu is lightbluae instead of green … whoaaaaa, and what about LG? nothing changed except the number is now 5 instead of 4

  • John D. Court

Hey, little yellow chinese rickshaw driver – tell me, are really ALL of you mass cloned dwarfs “Nguyen”? I mean, all of your parents are sisters? And what are you doing leaning at that car? Do you think the german, american or swiss owner likes that seeing your poor yellow asian ass leaning there? Tztztz……

  • John D. Court

My Note 4 Exynos is faster….Bad Luck for you.

  • Guru Tim

That’s good for you. And my Z3C is smaller and lighter and allows for convenient one handed use.. Bad luck for you. Why even comment on this thread?

  • Xperia Z3

Let us be slow, but quality….

  • Hieu Nguyen

For someone who’s trying to make a racial insult at someone who’s Asian, you’re doing a mighty poor job and quite frankly, embarrassing yourself because
    1) Your English and grammar SUCKS. Like really, you need to go back to elementary school
    2) Nguyen is a Vietnamese surname jackass
    3) Your comment makes no sense whatsoever so not insulting at the least
Move on now you poor excuse for an internet troll…

  • Hieu Nguyen

    its just been released

  • Tobias Hedlund

    Nothing in Sweden =(

  • BenL

I just installed it on my Z3 Compact. It’s 4.4.4.

  • Random dude

Why bad Luck? I don’t think he wants the FASTEST Phone, i think he wants a FAST Phone. And the Z3C is fast, believe me.

  • xperiatized

    just got it (DE)

  • Vishnu

This update is rolling now in India

  • atiratha

I think there was a slight camera quality improvement in this update. At least I’m not seeing so many compression/oversharpening artifacts at max resolution at 8mp (Z3C)
