SmartWatch 3 AdaptorSony unveiled the Stainless Steel SmartWatch 3 at yesterday’s CES press event. It is undoubtedly a premium-looking smartwatch, but if the strap still isn’t doing anything for you then you’ll be glad to hear that Sony will soon allow to use your own strap.

The SmartWatch 3 “holder” is a special adaptor, allowing the user to click in the SW3 display which then enables you to use a 24mm wrist strap of your choice. Sony says that the holder will be available in the “early part of 2015”, so that probably means it should be out by next month.

  • Yay! |When I tried on a SmartWatch 3 in December the rubber strap felt HORRIBLE on my arm, I couldn’t wait to get it off. It very nearly put me off the SW3 completely. I’m so glad that they’ve released a metal strap and also this adapter. :-)

Super ugly… I’m still happy with my Smartwatch 2.. it looks fabulous!

  • spatch72

Still ugly, but this is a vast improvement. I guess that means this “holder” will fit my black leather band from my Smartwatch 2. Bonus!

Matter of taste, I find SW3 more beautiful than SW2

  • Definite improvements with this and the stainless steel edition, though it makes you wonder why this adapter wasn’t available at launch. The lack of custom wrist straps was such a big negative in reviews that it can be difficult to wipe that out of consumer minds even a couple months later.

Sorry sony but sw3 is so ugly, except the stainless steel edition :D

The Smartwatch 3 is much more sleeker. While the SmartWatch 2 has a much more stronger and bolder edges. To be honest both look great, I just hope their 4th Gen. is a lot better than anything the competition can do

Well, it’s all a matter of perspective; last year I had a Smartwatch 2 because there was no nicer smartwatch on the market. I was hoping to replace it with the Smartwatch 3 but in the end I opted for an LG G Watch R, because I thought it looked nicer. I think Sony left a bit the competition to catch up or even overtake them.
I think the stainless steel version of the Smartwatch 3 looks again very good (good enough to challenge the average Apple Watch) but I think the Motorola Moto 360 and the LG G Watch R upped the ante a bit for all.

Agreed, Sony has some catching up to do in the Smartwatch game. I hope their next one has a slightly bigger screen, better resolution and a great design that ties in their Omnibalance design. I was planning on replacing my Smartwatch 2, but the Moto 360 was much better. I wonder if Sony could partner with other watch makers and develop a better design

Oh wow it’s really good! I would like to buy this.
Have a look at Sykla smartwatches that I recently bought at

I’m happy with my AP Royal Oak watch. After 40 years its still not out of style. While all smart watches after 5 years will lay in fields.

I guess you’re still rocking a land-line too then, them fancy smartphones go out of style really quickly too, and none of them are good for 5 years either.

Does anyone know if this is out yet and if so, where I can get it from (UK) ?

4 months later and still no holder kit. Still waiting Sony. I probably should just sell the watch, seems like they were bluffing on the holder kit. Was a major reason I got the watch in the first place!

  • tffk

I’d like to buy the SW3 but not until the holder kit is released. I don’t understand why it wasn’t released at launch?? Looks so much better and so many more people would have bought the watch. Sony WHYY!

  • Bear3825

Anyone know when this adapter will be released in the US? I’m still waiting!
