Socialife News app supports screen rotation; icon updated for Material Design

Socialife_NEWSSony’s Socialife News application was updated earlier this week and a new Material Design icon introduced. We didn’t notice any big changes in the UI of the app itself, however another change is that the app now supports screen rotation so that news can be consumed in landscape view. The update is live in the Play Store right now.

Has there ever been a more useless or more redundant Sony app than this one? What exactly is its reason for existing vs its legion of competitors? But I guess some people must use and like it … somewhere.

I like this app. I don’t need to install facebook or twitter and I can add rss link pages to read it all in one app.

If you don’t know how to use the app it doesn’t mean it’s useless.

I started using it recently, its quite nice! Clean interface and easy to navigate through. I like the fact you can type in any keyword and it will display the latest news articles online related to that keyword

  • SONY = shit company

    I still miss Timescape.

  • I feel bad as i am one of those whining sp user back then, but still proudly using that phone today.

  • Shaktimaan

*meanwhile ……… Xperia SP army gains support!!

  • hhhhhhh

  • I once hated it when it first come out coz it was full of bug and never use it again. But now this app is much better, i think i love it now.

If Sony is so insistent on preloading a news app, they should just include flipboard or google newsstand – both of which are much better than this (after all they have dedicated teams behind them). While Socialife isn’t that bad, the resources can be spent better elsewhere.

In The end, Sony will release Systemui and white background settings menu…LOL and lollipop will be updated to Z owners.

  • Chitti- The Robot

It’s a news reader, you can add rss feeds to get news from your favorite news sites and new posts from your favorite blogs all in one place. It’s pretty handy.

  • Emil Oskarsson

Why did you buy such a bad phone from the beginning? Neither Samsung LG or HTC will update phones like that so don’t be mad at Sony :p

  • Amimanot

LOLLIPOP HAS ARRIVED!!! (just practicing my reaction for when the damn thing actually arrives)

  • Amel_Marie

Am i the only one here who havent got the album and photo editor updates yet?

  • charbel aoun

If sony dosen’t b*** the SP, we will get lollipop :'(

  • Adi Crisan
