Thanks Darei and Jonathan!

  • Mohit Verma

Hope this firmware will fix battery drain and heating issue.

  • Reza

    Sony is really on fire..

  • Nabeel Raza

It’s raining certifications and updates across Z series

  • Hoping that they will solve the redrawing and other issues…

  • xperiaDROID

It’s not that they’re on fire, it’s because they need to fix the bugs that is on the current software, or else their customers will definitely be on fire.

  • P9

hope this fix slow battery changing issue.

  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

So much taking time to fix the bugs and releasing the final firmware.

  • P9

hope Sony brings xloud back too

  • inspire

I don’t experience any unexpected heating issues or battery drain on z1 with the latest available version.
Sd800 on z1 is quite good in this regard and only heats up while playing very processor-intensive games and still gives battery backup of 1.5 days under normal usage even after 1.5 years!

Just that I’ve noticed that battery charging is a bit slow now but no problem with using it on battery whatsoever.

  • Jaissal S

woah! I don’t even have the .270 update yet. I wonder what this new update will bring.

  • dEFLASH

my ass on fire cuz I can’t move apps to SD
“now you can move apps to sd .. they say (5.0.2)” … okay doodz, move from internal to “sdcard” not “sdcard1”?? genius, Einstein crying like a baby, and tears of emotion.
Damn sony why so serious ?

  • dEFLASH

my ass on fire cuz I can’t move apps to SD

  • Lino Dias

Use flashtool to update to new version

  • Deki

    I still don’t have .270… waiting…

  • jag

so that’s why maybe my ultra don’t want to update to –.270.

  • Reza

How come? My Z2 is working fine and i can transfer apps to SD card even it’s not all but at least it could free internal memory.

  • Reza

They’re not robot, it takes time to fix something..

  • Jaissal S

I’m not desperate for the update. I can wait for it. The .242 update works fine for my day to day usage.

  • Reza

    Ohhh my mistaken..

  • mukul verma

It’s ota available in Indian z1 around 18 mb

  • mukul verma

It’s integrated with sound enhancement.so no need xtra app.

  • xperiaDROID

Hell no! I’d rather have xLoud enabled by default and can’t disable it. If you disable it, your phone’s speaker is basically crap.

  • Lino Dias

Make a factor reset, that may solve the problem

  • mukul verma

How can you not transfer to sd card, I can transfer data to external sd card.again check your apps in setting- apps- on sd card option.

  • RealityCheck2015

My Apps(on my Z1) don’t load up as fast as they did before i did the Lollipop up date :( It’s not to bad tho, but with each big update you would think things would get faster. Still do love Lollipop mainly & some cool features it has to ;)

  • mukul verma

    Hahaha..very well said..

  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

Yea you’re right they’re not. But I am happy they actually updated whole range of devices unlike other companies, but I don’t understand when they’ll have a good camera update.

  • mukul verma

I got approx 1.5 days of battery using 3g, smart band. I am not getting this issue..may be you need factory reset.& there is not a single issue of over heating.

  • Amey Kanikdale

    Any changelog guys.?

  • mukul verma

It’s just certified, not rolling.. So no changing at this time.after rolling we’ll know.

  • Deki

    Screenshot? Any changes?

  • Jaissal S

If things were to get faster after updates, current Sony users would be less likely to buy new Sony phones, therefore affecting Sony’s profits. New software is always going to be more demanding for the processor right?

  • Abdul Ghani

    maybe for all region release

  • Kaarthikeyan Swaminathan

Not many OEM actually fix bugs this quick, If u know what i mean ;)

  • Kaarthikeyan Swaminathan

U need to put the SD card in ur fone I guess.
On a serious note it works perfectly fine on Lollipop.
But not all apps support this feature. SO if a specific app that u want, doesnt let you move it then scream at the developer

  • dEFLASH

    Double checked it.
Okay, rly “on sdcard…” but on “sdcard”, not “sdcard1”.

Sorry for russian-like screenshots, but I think youll got my my “message”.
look at first “sdcard” screen from root explorer, and second “sdcard1”.
now…app was moved to sd… (app screenshot), but “sdcard1” still have only empty folders.
    So…
3 of 8gb free on “Sdcard” (internal)
58 of 59.9 are free on true sdcard1.

Info about firmware at first screenshot.

    Regards.

  • ChilliPSco

Battery drain is a pain. Never experienced an overheating issue though. However, I have noticed some extremely slow response when using apps or closing apps down and going back to my home screen to find it takes a few seconds to get the icons to re-appear on my home screen.

  • dEFLASH

Yeah you can move some stuff like photos, videos, music…
    It’s not a problem.
    Problem is move apps (Android/data | Android/obb).
On sdcard this folders are empty on 5.0.2 like on 4.4.4…etc.
They say “you can move bla bla bla, on sdcard…one thing…internal sdcard.”
If you check it twice – you can see.
Move from phone to sd – check free space
Move back from sd to phone…nothing changed :D

  • mukul verma

Changes only I have seen a close all button, many bug fixes which was affecting previous rom.

  • mukul verma

I got it, contact your app provider for able to transfer to sd card, Sony already said to contact their app manufactures to able to transfer to sd card. Its manufacture fault. Not Sony.

  • Ibrahim Najjar

i hope it fix the WiFi problem its very weak and slow when connected to mid range network
i never had these problem in kitkat ..

  • dEFLASH

    How it will possible ?)
Sony can say that they steal aliens and smoking weed every day…but but they are not steal aliens irl.
Show me the app on Z U that move their files to extSD (aka Sdcard1).

  • Mohit Verma

Indeed, Apps crashing and lagging problem is still there.

  • Redfire 89

When i will see the update for my xperia z (c6603) in germany? Someone knows when it could happen?

  • Boonerski

That’s mostly Android Lollipop’s fault. Lousy multi-tasking and RAM management are bugs in the 5.0.2 firmware. Will probably get resolved in 5.1 hopefully.

  • Mohit Verma

RAM Management is very poor in Lollipop. Apps frequently crashes and restarts. I’ve never experienced such issue with Kitkat.

  • Mohit Verma

haha. sony making fool of us.

  • Tomislav Mati?

I have Z3 and I am going to write what i saw on it. Only apk is moved on SD card. For data developer needs to write app to move data to SD card. I saw that app is using some memory on internal memory and some on SD card. Yes I got free space but it was not enough to me. At firs firmware it was saying that full app is on SD card while it was not but now they fixed it and it is saying correctly how much memory of app is on SD card and how much is on internal memory.

  • dEFLASH

Looks like. But not only one sony, google – the firstborn evil, cuz we have trouble since android 4.x, with their security care of us.
“Blah blah it will be new security milestone blah blah NSA can’t hack and steal your home photos with your big captain…blah blah”…damn I don’t care about it. I just want to get a choice be secured or not, use my extSD for apps and photos or not. Thank god we don’t have troubles like in iOS, cuz I have ipad and it was jailbreaked from a to z, without jb it was just expensive hipster toy for games and redtube lol.
Okay guys. Be cool, write to me if you find something.
    Regards.

  • Killian Khoo

    What theme is that ??

  • Killian Khoo

Not all apps support this feature.

  • mukul verma

It’s PlayStation theme, you can Search it on xda site.

  • dEFLASH

Here is another one marketing trick.
Difference between 8gb and 32gb is 10bucks, but difference between smartphone 8gb and 32gb are 100$. So why sell phone with 8gb and fullaccess sdcard slot, when we can cut access and say “That is for your safety doode! NSA, FIB, ISIS, HACKERS!!!111 khkh ke-ke-ke, okay give me your money!”

  • mukul verma

I don’t have z u, I m having z1, & I am sure its app problem, not Sony., as above also said not all apps support this feature, so you have to contact app developer..

  • bahar_b

appreciated the efforts of those who are trying to provide the best is a good start. it shows your maturity…..
@sony update staff..emmm..so when it will be released?

  • Kim Romberg

Yep, overheating…that is the only problem I have with this phone, but that one issue is really MAJOR. Two minutes of Hay Day (not to mention Candy Crush etc)…too much…overheats.., some photo editing…overheats.., writing on Fb or similar…overheats.., just to name a few of examples.
The overheating then causes problems with the touch screen and makes the phone useless for a while…
It was okayish in jellybean, so it hasn’t always been faulty…

    *sigh*

Today i updated to. 270. Again new update?

  • Aditya Thakur

Is there any way to root Xperia Z1 c6902 with locked bootloader?

I had already updated my device to lollipop and don’t want to downgrade my device to Kitkat and flash pre-rooted then

  • Lino Dias

i solve all the problems with a factory reset

  • MANISH GEHLOT

My Xperia z1 c6906 is having serious battery drain issues after updating it to 5.0. Even after updating it to .270 version “Android OS” is eating up around 40% of the battery with “Mobile Radio Active” on for all the apps. Battery backup was the USP of this phone. I think this needs to be addressed otherwise need to move back to Kitkat which had very great battery backup.

  • MANISH GEHLOT

My xperia z1 c6906 even heats up while using camera for about 2 min after lollipop update. Serious battery drain issue with lollipop. Booting takes up more time than kitkat.

  • MarkLastiwka

I already got it on my Z1 through PC Companion. Gave me the “clear all apps” button

  • mukul verma

factory reset your phone..booting always takes longer time for the first run. mine takes approx 5min after updating to 5.0.2, camera doesnt heat up in this update, infact its pretty fast while opening.i had made a 35 min video, still doesnt heat up. & batterydrain is not a issue in this version.

  • fried_egg

.270 is good but it is far from perfect… the phone overheats with the music player alone!! but there are a load of small “errors” that shouldnt be in the wild. Worse, dont bother with the camera… it very quickly warns you if it gets hot it will shut things down… and then does.

  • Riju Pal

Today updated my z1 to. 270. But tethering problem still exists. Is that why sony rolling this update?

  • Imran Rizki Dukalang

Will it comes with Android 5.1.1 ?
    Hope so

  • Kim Romberg

Don’t know how many factory resets I’ve done, always updated to newest fw…the problem remains…

  • mukul verma

It only shows error, but you can use tethering. When I use it shows error but I can use tethering.

  • nadim ahmad

Disabling Ultra stamina mode re enables disabled apps which are disabled like play music, news stand, social life etc.
    How can i fix this

  • Tim Rox Westerholm

But they’re adding new content too, like the close all button, i know it’s not much but they’re trying to copy the Nexus series and nexus don’t have that option, so it’s a step to the right direction

  • mikko

    Hi everybody,

I have read a lot of complaint about Lolly pop update for sony xperia Z phones.
So I share my experience and try and help those who can’t resolve the issue themselves and keep on moaning about lolly pop!

When I update my Xperia Z Ultra with lolly pop, there was a lot of PROBLEMS with it.

A ……Battery drain really fast (Thought battery is gone and needs replacing)
B…….Overheating! Had to switch it of and on again to stabilize
C…….Everything was slow and stuttering. A lot of crash and random reboot

At this point I hated my Z ULTRA and was going to disown it.

Then I decided to try and resolve the issue and this is how I DID IT…..

First I back up all my important files and messages. Then I did a COMPLETE
    FACTORY RESET…deleting and destroying EVERYTHING.

After that I just restore all my Apps and setting…just like getting a new phone……

PRESTO….EVERYTHING IS PERFECT with LOLLY POP.

My Z Ultra is running perfectly. All the above PROBLEMS is gone and my Z Ultra Is
AMAZING again. It is much better than before now….even battery life is BETTER.

So if any of you having Lolly Pop problems on your Z phones, just do what I did before complaining and disowning your Z Phones!

Sony should do a better job of telling people how to update or handle the update procedure better. Instead they get all this NEGATIVE feed back for NOTHING…effecting sale and reputation!

I am in Love with my Z ultra again… still the best phones I have ever own so far…….

  • Riju Pal

Yes, its working. Thanks bro. Hey do u have problems in changing album arts in “Music” app? I can’t choose pic from my pic gallary nother i can clear an album art. Just i can “download from network”, which is also not very stable. Plz help…..

  • seVen NG

i still not receive update version .270 in malaysia. how about other malaysian z1 user. did all of you get the update to .270 yet?

  • Maxx Tan

chill la… still .242 for malaysia

  • MANISH GEHLOT

I have updated my phone about a week ago and still the battery drain is the issue. I have even tried factory reset but of no use. Camera always heat up even after using it for only 2 min. This is going on since the Lollipop intiial update and had not changed in .270 version also.

  • mukul verma

did you kept aside for 5-10min after update? after lollipop update i kept aside for 5 min, after that i had used, so till now i didnt get any battery issue & over heat problem.

  • mukul verma

which version are you using? i am using latest beta version( 9.0.1.a.3.0) of music app & there is a option of change of album art or you can delete album art if you dont like it.

  • Riju Pal

I am not using the beta version. I have 9.0.0.A. 0.1. It also have that option. But some changed album arts re changed automatically after restarting. The music is not showing any updates in play store.

  • Not possible. The version is just hitting Nexus devices. Besides 5.1.1 will come to Z3 first.

  • Did you try cleaning cache?

Press and power button + Up volume key together. Device should shutdown with 3 vibrations.
Restart and you’re good to go.

  • mukul verma

May be clear your catches & data..hope it’ll solve your problem. I’m not facing this issue in beta version, may be stable version it may have.

  • Kim Romberg

Well, good for you…but the problem with these smartphones is, what works for one doesn’t necessary work for another… :/
I have had overheating problems ever since the KK upgrade and tried everything…but nothing works. The latest two fw’s have been the worst. Now a few minutes playing Hay Day, Candy Crush, writing (mails, fb, messages…), looking at photos, not mention editing, is making the phone overheat and useless, as the touch screen goes nuts and it gets laggy as heck…:(

  • B. Alex

Yeah , if they can fix some other problems like the icons redraw on the home screen when you get out from an app that should be perfect. Any of you having this or found a solution??

  • Kim Romberg

    Yep, tried that…many times…the issue remains…

  • Lucky me. It worked for me (Factory reset didn’t).

  • Kim Romberg

…I, on the other hand, have great battery time (always had) and not really any problems with apps crashing…

  • Aleky2002

Sdcard1 is your sd card sdcard0 is your internal storage

  • Aleky2002

Even for me wit the 270 update WiFi became quite shit

  • MANISH GEHLOT

I haven’t kept it aside after upgrade. I think the battery drain issue is with C6906 models not other models of z1..

  • Ariyadi Putra

Does this update just for limited country? I already check on my mobile but it says I already in latest update while my build number was 14.5.A.0.242
    How can I say? T-T

  • mukul verma

may be.than wait for fix bro.

  • Riju Pal

No, my c6902 also overheats and battery drains pretty fast after. 270 update. And also takes long time for charging. Heats while charging….

  • Jaissal S

Oh cool. I am still waiting for the notification

  • mukul verma

it should be available, check your whats new app.

  • Jaissal S

I have, there is nothing. I have even refreshed from ‘Software Update’ via settings.

Where the Hell is this Update. Waiting Waiting

  • taoizt

Pfff I’m waiting for ages for the lollipop version for this Phone. I have an unbranded Z1 compact, bought in the Netherlands at Smartphoneshop.nl . Still stuck on version 4.4.2, I start to loose my patience on this and it can be a big reason to NOT choose a Sony next time. If they promise Lollipop update please live up to it and don’t wait till version like 5.1 is widely available and Android M is around the corner to bring an ‘ older’ (5.0.2) version out. It appears that almost all competitors like LG, Samsung, HTC etc. are faster. Frustrating as hell!

  • Yasiru Theekshana

just flash a ftf with flashtool

  • taoizt

well…nice and all but i prefer an official OTA update, is that too much to ask? Strange that other brands don’t have to go for this ‘hacking’ type of solution

  • Deki

Did any of you got the update? I am still waiting, no words…

  • Its an official update….. And you will still receive new updates if its the case
