Sony Xperia Z3 dropped from T-Mobile’s website (again)

T-Mobile Xperia Z3 disappearsWe’re not sure what is going on between Sony Mobile and T-Mobile US, but the Xperia Z3 (D6616) has once again disappeared from T-Mobile’s website. If you try searching for Sony devices on the website, you are only shown the pre-owned Xperia Z and Xperia Z1s. The Xperia Z3 is nowhere to be seen, which could mean T-Mobile has stopped selling the phone.

However, we have been here before. In early April, the phone disappeared from the website and according to T-Mobile reps sales of the handset were halted. A few weeks later though, the handset returned and the price was dropped to $500. The timing does seem strange, especially as the T-Mobile Xperia Z3 recently saw an update to Android Lollipop. Could the disappearance indicate that the Xperia Z4 is on its way to T-Mobile? Verizon saw the Xperia Z4v announced earlier in the week, so it’s not that far-fetched an idea. Either way, we’ll bring you an update on this T-Mobile Xperia Z3 stock situation as soon we have it.

Pretty sure a Tmobile version of Z4/Z3+ is around the corner. Maybe that’s why Sony put Z3 on a very good $300 sale couple days ago…

Pulled due to issues according to TMO rep…

I’m on my 8th replacement from TMO, the rep at my store said that they pulled it due to too many returns/issues. This was after I asked them for a new device instead of refurbished.

They offered to cancel my remaining $425 balance in monthly payments and even taxes if I wanted to change devices. I might take that offer if the next one ends up having issues again…

  • illstplaya .

What was wrong with 7 of the phones lol?

  • Abhinav Tella

#1 Severe lightbleed between Glass/Frame – Compromised waterproofing
#2 Even worse light bleed, entire left side seemed to be having glue only in intervals and also compromised waterproofing
    #3 Pink Camera – severe
#4 Worked well was perfect for 7 months – T-Mobile themselves opened checked 4-5 boxes before giving me this non defective unit. Recently developed screeching/vibrating top speaker
#5 Replacement unit came Severe light bleed between Glass/Frame – Compromised waterproofing. Also had a patch of paint missing on lower bezel right of the speaker with light coming through like an extra LED lol.
    #6 Exact same as #5.
#7 Streak of dead pixels and and dust under LCD
#8 enroute via overnight shipping, so tommorow lol.

I wish I kept #4 and just lived with a bad speaker lol, I told them I want it back but its already off to Sony.

Well up to this moment there is only one model for Z3+ it is E6553 on White Papers, there should be already an E6516 there.

what the issues plaguing the SD 810, I say no thanks to the Z3+, Hello Z3. I know that once the Z3+/Z4 is released globally, the Z3 would drop in price soon after, possibly 100 to 200 USD down. I could go for the Z3 T-mobile version, which have 32GB and wifi calling, but it would be slow to updates.

The last update was given to T-Mobile about a month after Sony provided the international update and T-Mobile released it after about 3 weeks of testing, so if 5.1 comes in July expect about 1.5-2 months delay at most. I think it will be less, as it’s not as big a jump as the last one.

I actually returned my old Z3 for your reason #1. I honestly thought it was just a fluke. (I switched to the Nexus 6 after that though, lol.)

  • Abhinav Tella

Most definitely not a fluke as I found out, my local store rep actually admitted it, considering they opened multiple boxes and checked to give me phone #4 which was perfect. Apparently I was not the only one either with multiple returns. When I asked for a new one after #4 had issues later, due to bad refurbished replacements, they said they only have refurbs as they discontinued due to too many issues.

Happy with #8 though lol. I’m glad I bought T-Mobile branded, they shipped me overnight/1 day shipping for each of the replacements #5-8. Dealing with TMO is so much easier than manufacturers, even without insurance.

I hope you got the newer batch of Nexus 6, I saw some of the early ones had burn in only a few days. Nexus 6 is also a good phone, enjoy.

Since the presentation of Sony Xperia Z3 Plus, the price of Xperia Z3 is down every week. A situation that is expected to increase when the Plus version will be marketed in all online stores.
